About Lucky Dragon

Welcome to Lucky Dragon, a Chinese restaurant located at 1960 N Bend Rd, Hebron, KY 41048, USA. While it might appear as a simple takeout spot in a strip mall, Lucky Dragon has garnered exceptional praise from its customers, particularly for the freshness and quality of its food, setting it apart from typical Americanized Chinese cuisine. You can contact them at (859) 586-2121 or their mobile number +1 859-586-2121 for placing orders or inquiries.

Based on the glowing customer reviews, Lucky Dragon seems to be a delightful surprise for those seeking authentic and flavorful Chinese takeout. One recent customer who had just moved to the neighborhood described the food as "so fresh and amazing" with "big portions." They further noted that it tasted very close to a "home made meal" and was notably "not greasy," a welcome departure from the often heavy and oily nature of some Chinese takeout options. This initial positive feedback suggests that Lucky Dragon prioritizes the quality and freshness of its ingredients and employs cooking methods that result in a lighter and more wholesome meal.

Perhaps the most compelling review comes from a couple from Dayton, Ohio, who stumbled upon Lucky Dragon serendipitously during a long and tiring day with appointments in the Cincinnati and Florence, KY areas. Initially not even considering Chinese food, their decision to try Lucky Dragon was based on its convenient location in a strip mall where they had stopped to refuel. They admitted to having low expectations, anticipating the "usual GFS/Sisco sourced, Americanized food, heavy on the greasy brown sauce" common in many Chinese restaurants. However, their experience was anything but ordinary.

Driven by a 30-year "hobby" of trying egg rolls worldwide, the couple's interest was piqued by Lucky Dragon's "roast pork egg roll" listed on the menu. What followed was described as an "ooooh myyyy" moment. They were greeted by the "lovely husband and wife team, the owners," who were noted for their exceptional friendliness. Their order included the "Triple Ingredients" (likely Triple Delight) and Szechuan Chicken, with their primary hope being that the egg rolls would be decent.

Upon tasting the roast pork egg roll, they were astounded, declaring it "THE BEST, most flavorful and carefully made from scratch egg roll we've ever had in our lives." This is high praise indeed, coming from seasoned egg roll enthusiasts with global experience. This suggests that the roast pork egg rolls at Lucky Dragon are a signature item, crafted with care and exceptional flavor.

The couple's positive experience extended to the main dishes as well. They found both the Triple Ingredients and the Szechuan Chicken to be "utterly unique," devoid of the heavy, greasy brown sauce they had anticipated. Instead, the dishes were described as "very light on oil" and possessing completely distinct spice and flavor profiles. The Szechuan Chicken had a noticeable "ginger and garlic vibe," while the other dish was more "savory and 'juicy'" with an indescribable quality. This indicates that Lucky Dragon offers dishes with nuanced and individual flavors, moving beyond the commonality often found in Americanized Chinese food.

The reviewer concluded by urging others not to be misled by the "tiny place in a strip mall" and to avoid assuming it's just another generic Chinese takeout. They emphatically stated that it was "the best Chinese meal we've ever had in our lives" and were so impressed that they immediately went back inside to purchase six more egg rolls to take back to Dayton, a testament to their exceptional quality. The reviewer lauded the owners and suggested that Lucky Dragon is "worth a trip there," even a long one, emphasizing that "It's THAT good." Their final sentiment, "Lucky Dragon indeed. We certainly got lucky, randomly discovering it. We will be back, for sure," underscores the unexpected and delightful culinary experience they had.

Based on these reviews, the environment of Lucky Dragon appears to be a modest, perhaps small, establishment located in a strip mall. It might not have elaborate decor or a large dining area, as suggested by the description of it as a "tiny place." However, the warm and friendly service provided by the husband and wife owners contributes positively to the overall customer experience.

In terms of services, Lucky Dragon primarily functions as a takeout restaurant, as indicated by both reviews detailing their experiences with food taken off-premises. The first reviewer specifically mentioned it as a "Chinese take out place." While dine-in service is not explicitly mentioned, the focus seems to be on providing high-quality food for customers to enjoy at home or elsewhere. To confirm if they offer dine-in options or delivery services, it would be best to contact the restaurant directly.

Features of Lucky Dragon that stand out are the freshness and non-greasy quality of their food, the generous portion sizes, and the exceptionally delicious roast pork egg rolls, which have been described as the best ever tasted. The unique and distinct flavors of their dishes, such as the Szechuan Chicken with its ginger and garlic notes, also set them apart. The friendly and welcoming service from the owners is another notable feature that contributes to a positive customer experience.

Currently, no specific promotional information for Lucky Dragon is available in the provided reviews. It is common for takeout restaurants to offer lunch specials, combination meals, or discounts for certain order amounts. To learn about any current promotions or special offers, customers are advised to inquire when placing a phone order or check if they have a menu available online.

In conclusion, Lucky Dragon in Hebron, KY, appears to be a hidden gem among Chinese restaurants, particularly for those seeking fresh, non-greasy, and flavorful takeout. The rave reviews highlight the exceptional quality of their roast pork egg rolls and the unique taste profiles of their main dishes. The generous portions and friendly service from the owners further enhance the appeal of this establishment. Despite its unassuming location, Lucky Dragon seems to offer a culinary experience that goes above and beyond typical expectations for Americanized Chinese food, making it a worthwhile destination even for those traveling from outside the immediate area. Local users in Hebron and surrounding areas should definitely consider trying Lucky Dragon for a truly satisfying Chinese takeout experience. For details on their menu, services (including dine-in or delivery), and any current promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended.

My wife and I don't do this--we don't write reviews, of anything, but we had to share this experience. We live in Dayton, Ohio, and had 2 appointments yesterday, one in the Cincy area, and one in Florence Ky. It was a long drive in very heavy traffic, we had been in and out of the car at this point for over 6 hours, and we stopped and filled the tank and randomly parked in a strip mall next to the gas station to reset for a moment, and figure out something to grab to eat on the way home that didn't involve a fast food drive-thru. As we were sitting in the car and I pulled the phone out to see what was near us to grab some take out, we noticed we were parked right in front of Lucky Dragon. We hadn't even considered Chinese food as an option (not the easiest thing to eat while driving), but we both looked at each other and thought, ok, why not, it's probably the usual GFS/Sisco sourced, Americanized food, heavy on the greasy brown sauce that saturates almost every selection at almost every Chinese restaurant, and makes every dish taste the same, regardless of which one you order. But having a 30 year "hobby" and passion of trying every egg roll we can in every city we've been in throughout the world, we figured it was at least worth a shot when we saw on their menu, "roast pork egg roll". Here's where the ooooh myyyy part comes in. I was greeted by a lovely husband and wife team, the owners, who could not have been more nice. I ordered Triple Ingredients (Triple Delight?), and Szechuan Chicken, not expecting anything special, but we were hopeful that their egg rolls were going to be decent. I took them back to the car where my wife was waiting. We each took a bite of an egg roll. THE BEST, most flavorful and carefully made from scratch egg roll we've ever had in our lives. The two dishes we ordered were utterly unique--no heavy greasy brown sauce, very light on oil and both had a completely different spice and flavor, the Szechuan having a distinct ginger and garlic vibe to it, the other a bit more savory and "juicy" thing going on that's hard to describe. Simply put, don't let this tiny place in a strip mall let you assume it's one of the thousands of "generic but decent enough" places. It was the best Chinese meal we've ever had in our lives. I rushed back in and bought 6 more(!) egg rolls to take back to Dayton. This wonderful couple really have it going on, and it's worth a trip there. Even if it's a long trip. It's THAT good. Lucky Dragon indeed. We certainly got lucky, randomly discovering it. We will be back, for sure.

We’ve been dining at Lucky Dragon for over 8 years, and it never disappoints. The consistency in flavor and quality is unmatched. The staff knows us by name, which adds a personal touch. My kids love the sweet and sour chicken!

I had such a great experience at Lucky Dragon Chinese Restaurant! The service was quick and the food arrived piping hot. My favorite dish was the Mongolian beef – tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The egg rolls were crispy and delicious, and their sweet and sour sauce is the best I’ve ever had. It’s no wonder they’ve been around for 8 years.

Worst noodles of your life. If you're a noodle fan, this is NOT the place. The spring rolls were pretty good. Orange chicken and bourbon chicken were also the worst. The house fried rice was OK but nothing to get again. Don't, unless you're just grabbing some spring rolls. Blah!
