About Lucky Buffet

Welcome to Lucky Buffet, a Chinese buffet restaurant situated at 101 Lake St, St Albans City, VT 05478, USA. As a Chinese buffet, Lucky Buffet offers an all-you-can-eat dining experience with a variety of Chinese dishes. They can be contacted at (802) 527-8388 or +1 802-527-8388 for inquiries.

Based on customer reviews, Lucky Buffet generally provides a satisfactory dining experience for many patrons. One regular customer, who visits one to two times per month, describes the food as "decent" and the prices as also "decent." They note that the atmosphere is typical of what one would expect from a Chinese buffet restaurant, suggesting a casual and functional setting focused on the food selection and self-service style of dining.

However, this same regular customer raises two significant concerns regarding the environment and service. The first complaint is the consistently cold indoor temperature, which they describe as feeling like "eating in a meat locker" year-round. This could be a significant discomfort for diners, potentially detracting from their overall enjoyment of the meal. The second issue is the timing of the check presentation, which reportedly occurs about 20 minutes after being seated, barely allowing enough time to finish a meal, especially for those who do not consume large quantities of food. This practice is perceived as rushing customers, which the reviewer finds "rather off-putting" and a potential reason to reduce their future visits.

In contrast to the dine-in experience described above, a separate review highlights a positive experience with takeout service at Lucky Buffet, particularly when visiting near closing time. This customer noted that even when some items were low in stock, the staff offered to cook an entire fresh batch to accommodate their request, demonstrating a willingness to go the extra mile for customer satisfaction. Although the customer declined this generous offer due to the short preparation time, the gesture itself is noteworthy. Additionally, when white rice was unavailable, the staff packaged a separate box of rice for the customer. Furthermore, they proactively assisted the customer with carrying and packaging their takeout order, described as "super helpful and kind." This review paints a picture of a staff that is accommodating and attentive to the needs of takeout customers.

Considering the information available, the environment of Lucky Buffet is described as a typical Chinese buffet setting, which generally implies a spacious area with various food stations offering a wide selection of dishes. However, the recurring mention of an excessively cold indoor temperature is a significant environmental factor that potential diners should be aware of. It might be advisable to dress warmly when visiting. The number of tables or the specific decor elements are not detailed in the reviews.

The services offered by Lucky Buffet include both dine-in (as a buffet) and takeout. The dine-in service is characterized by self-service from the buffet stations, and while generally acceptable in terms of speed of food access, there are concerns about the prompt presentation of the bill, which some customers feel is premature. The takeout service, on the other hand, is portrayed positively, with staff showing helpfulness and a willingness to accommodate customer needs, even near closing time.

A key feature of Lucky Buffet is its buffet format, allowing customers to sample a variety of Chinese dishes for a fixed price. The "decent" quality of the food, as mentioned by a regular patron, suggests a satisfactory range of standard Chinese buffet fare. The specific types of dishes available are not detailed, but typical Chinese buffets often include a selection of appetizers (like egg rolls and dumplings), soups, rice and noodle dishes, various meat and vegetable entrees, and sometimes a dessert bar. The willingness of the staff to cook fresh items for a takeout customer indicates a level of flexibility and commitment to providing what the customer needs, even if it's not readily available on the buffet line.

No promotional information, such as discounts, special offers, or themed nights, is mentioned in the provided customer reviews. Therefore, details about any current promotions at Lucky Buffet cannot be provided based on this information. Local users interested in potential deals or specials should contact the restaurant directly or check for any local advertisements or online listings that might provide such details.

In conclusion, Lucky Buffet in St. Albans City, VT, offers a standard Chinese buffet experience with a decent variety of food at reasonable prices. The atmosphere is what one might typically expect from such an establishment. However, potential dine-in customers should be aware of the reported consistently cold indoor environment and the practice of bringing the check relatively soon after seating, which some perceive as rushing. On the other hand, the takeout service has received positive feedback for its helpful and accommodating staff. For local users seeking a Chinese buffet with a wide selection, Lucky Buffet is an option to consider, keeping in mind the potential drawbacks mentioned in the reviews. Those particularly sensitive to cold temperatures might want to dress accordingly, and those preferring a more relaxed pace of dining may find the early check presentation less than ideal.

For residents of St. Albans City, VT, Lucky Buffet provides an all-you-can-eat Chinese option. The convenience of a buffet allows for trying a variety of dishes. While the food and prices are generally considered decent, the reported issues with the cold environment and the perceived rushed service for dine-in customers are important factors to consider. If you are primarily interested in takeout, the positive feedback regarding the helpfulness of the staff suggests a potentially more satisfactory experience. As with any restaurant, individual experiences can vary, and it might be worthwhile to try Lucky Buffet to form your own opinion, keeping the reported pros and cons in mind.

Overall I enjoy this place, my wife and I go there about 1-2 times per month. Food is decent, prices are decent and atmosphere is pretty much what one would typically expect for Chinese buffet. HOWEVER I have two complaints: 1- it's air conditioned year round and it's like eating in a meat locker. And 2- lately they've come to the table with the check about 20 minutes after we sit down, barely enough time to finish a meal. We are not people who eat plate after plate after plate of food. Both myself and my wife take two moderately filled plates of food at most. Typically when a restaurant brings the check to your table it indicates that you have reached a point in your dining experience that is nearing completion. I can't help but feel like we are being rushed to eat and get out when the check arrives 20 minutes after you sit down. It's rather off-putting. Will I still eat there? Most likely, but maybe not for much longer if I continue to feel like my dining experience is being rushed and cut short.

I went for take out at almost closing time. They were low on a couple of items. They offered to cook me an entire pan worth, just so I could get a scoop of the product. (Only take 2 minute) I didn't make them. The white rice was gone so they packaged me up my own box of white rice. They saw me struggling with my containers and soup, and cane right over and offered a hand and carried and packaged it for me. Super helpful and kind.

On Sunday for lunch, the food was all delicious, shrimp, roast beef, etc. 4 stars instead of 5 because the egg rolls and spring rolls were not hot and the wontons in the soup weren't cooked enough or something. One more thing, it would be nice if tea or coffee were included with the buffet. We'll be back!

A very quiet peaceful place to eat good food. Staff is there when you need them and give you space when you don't. I got 2 plates of food full and a large mug of ice cream for $17.68 outstanding. I usually tip them more than I am billed. My favorite work/comfort food hangout.
