Based on recent customer reviews, Lu Lu Seafood & Dim Sum appears to be a welcoming and highly-regarded dining destination for both locals and visitors. One reviewer who was visiting from out of town specifically sought out authentic Chinese food in the University Place area on Olive Street, noting that this area has become a hub for Chinese cuisine following the displacement of St. Louis's original Chinatown. This suggests that Lu Lu Seafood & Dim Sum is strategically located in a vibrant community known for its Chinese culinary offerings.

The out-of-town visitor also appreciated several key aspects of Lu Lu Seafood & Dim Sum. Firstly, the restaurant was open on a Sunday, which they found to be an advantage as many other Chinese restaurants in the area were surprisingly closed on this day. This indicates that Lu Lu Seafood & Dim Sum provides convenient dining options throughout the week. Secondly, the pricing was considered "good," especially when compared to other local Chinese restaurants that were perceived as having "abnormally high" prices, with many dishes ranging from $30 to $40. In contrast, the reviewer's bill at Lu Lu Seafood & Dim Sum for three dishes, one dim sum order, and tea came to a reasonable $56.

The quality of the food at Lu Lu Seafood & Dim Sum received high praise. The reviewer was "very very surprised" by how good all the dishes were, noting that they were "flavored nicely." Even their non-Chinese friends were impressed with the meal. A specific mention was made of the flower tea, which, although priced at $2.45, was deemed "definitely worth it." The portions of the dishes, including the shumai, were described as "quite big for the portion," indicating good value for money.

Beyond the food, the service at Lu Lu Seafood & Dim Sum was also highlighted as excellent. The staff was described as "always prompt with water or explaining dishes," showcasing attentiveness and a willingness to assist diners. This level of service contributes significantly to a positive dining experience, especially for those who may be unfamiliar with certain dishes.

The ambiance and decor of Lu Lu Seafood & Dim Sum were also positively noted. The reviewer described the decor as "very Chinese and authentic," which they personally appreciated. The fact that the restaurant has been around for a while seems to contribute to this authentic feel. The overall atmosphere appears to be conducive to a pleasant dining experience, as also mentioned by another reviewer who had a family dinner for nine people. They described the restaurant as "clean" with a "friendly staff" and a "nice atmosphere," further reinforcing the positive environment.

For families and larger groups, Lu Lu Seafood & Dim Sum seems to be an excellent choice. The family of nine who dined there ordered dim sum and appetizers first, followed by dinner, and reported that "everything was very good, hot," and their server was "great." They also noted that there was "plenty of food for everyone," suggesting generous portion sizes suitable for sharing. The ability to take their time ordering dinner after enjoying starters indicates a relaxed and accommodating dining pace.

In terms of features, Lu Lu Seafood & Dim Sum's specialization in both seafood and dim sum is a significant draw. Dim sum, a Cantonese cuisine involving a variety of small, savory dishes, is a popular choice for sharing and sampling different flavors. The positive mention of the shumai suggests that their dim sum offerings are of high quality. The emphasis on seafood implies that fresh and well-prepared seafood dishes are also a highlight of their menu. This dual focus provides a diverse range of options to cater to different preferences.

Another practical advantage mentioned by the out-of-town visitor is the plentiful parking available at Lu Lu Seafood & Dim Sum. This is a significant convenience, especially in a busy area like Olive Boulevard. Additionally, their store hours were described as "quite good," making it easier for customers to find a suitable time to dine.

While no specific promotional information was mentioned in the provided reviews, the positive feedback regarding pricing suggests that Lu Lu Seafood & Dim Sum offers good value for the quality and quantity of food provided. So visiting from out of town and want to try the local Chinese food here. Since St. Louis knocked down their chinatown for Busch stadium, the chinese have moved to university place on olive Street. Looking at prices online, some of these Chinese resturant prices were abnormally high. Most dishes should run around the 15 to 20 range but alot of resturant here running 30 to 40. Plus alot closed on Sunday oddly. This place was open Sunday, good pricing, and had dim sum. Plus it doesn't look like a take out only place. I was very very suprised by this place. All the dishes were quite good and flavored nicely. the flower tea, although 2.45, was definitely worth it. The shumai was quite big for the portion, as well as the dishes. My non Chinese friends were impressed. What also good was the service. Always prompt with water or explaining dishes. The decor is also very Chinese and authentic which I love. You can tell it's been here awhile. Pricingvwas very good as for 3 dishes and 1 dim sum and tea, the bill was $56. Parking is also plentiful and their store hours are quite good. I won't even bother with the other resturants and will go this weekend for the dim sum. Great place for simple Chinese. If you are expecting fancier, pay more or go somewhere else but this is how authentic Chinese food is. It's hit or miss depending on times.

The food was pretty good over all and I would recommend... But the service was not the greatest , our severe was not a good english speaker and when we were about to order she just came up and said "Yes" which kind of rude but I can understand if english is not her first language. The atmosphere was very very very bad you could even say that it was horrible, the entire time the entire time there was a man on his phone and was watching some VERY LOUD anime and there even sounded like there was a "fun" seen if you know what I mean which is very inappropriate for a work setting. Over all it was ok. In the photos I had already eaten some of it :).

When it comes to dim sum, I am sad that there is not many places in St. Louis. I’d say Lulu is better than other places in town. However, food quality can be hit or miss. I noticed that if I came before noon on Sunday, the food tasted kinda old. Service has been great so far. I liked that they give customers a real dim sum cart experience. Some dim sum staples I always order are Siu Mai (pork and shrimp dumpling), Har Gow Crystal shrimp dumpling, Lo Bak Go ( Turnip cake), Har Chueng Fun ( steamed rice roll with shrimp), Bolo bao ( pineapple bun), Fung Chao ( chicken feet), Jiu Cai Jiao ( chives fried dumpling), crispy duck and salt and pepper shrimp.
