Louie’s is falling off. I recently visited my childhood favorite pizza place and ordered a pepperoni grinder and medium pizza only to be met with a bread sandwich with some mayo. The grinder is $11 and as advertised as “the best grinders in Waterbury” I’d beg to differ, OK at best.
Just got a pizza from here and am highly disappointed.. last time I ordered a party pizza and it was amazing! But this time the cheese taste off and the pizza is not appealing at all.
I'm from upstate NY, so my bar for pizza is pretty high. I ordered through Slice.com, and even though it said the order had been received, the shop didn't get my order. Which I didn't know until I called to ask where it was. They were so nice on the phone, apologized for the inconvenience, but advised me to call slice. As soon as slice called Louies, they called me to confirm my order. They had it here within 30 minutes. The crust is thinner (but not thin) and crispy. Not greasy at all! The sauce is herby, I'm used to a sweeter sauce, but it is really good. I ordered Greek but replaced feta with ricotta, and added chicken. So I'm in my hotel room inhaling pizza, very happy.
We stopped in before seeing a show at the Palace theater. They were quite busy, but we were immediately greeted and offered seats or takeout. We dined in, ordered mozzarella sticks and a large half and half pizza, house special ( no mushrooms for allergy), and the other half meatlovers. The mozzarella sticks were huge and good, made there, I think. The pizza was FANTASTIC, one of the top 5 I've ever eaten loaded with meats and veggies. Our waitress was a hard worker, managing the phones, tables, and pick-up orders. If we lived closer, we'd be a regular.
Horrible experience! Ordered over the phone and unfamiliar and uninformed about the “process” regarding beverages, my son walked in picked up the order and came home without any beverages, stating that he wasn’t given any. I called back to inquire as to what happened and was told by the woman who took my order, that it’s not their responsibility to give customers the drinks they order, the customers are supposed to know(without being informed) that they need to go into the refrigerator and get the beverages themselves. How would a new customer picking up an order know this? Why wasn’t it told to me over the phone, or to my son when the order was rung up and he paid? She was very rude and unapologetic, terrible customer service! I will never patronize this business again and I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone! Response to the owner’s doubling down reply below: My drink order was taken over the phone, I told the woman who took my order exactly what I wanted to drink, just like I told her what I wanted to eat she took the order and gave no instructions regarding taking the drinks out of the refrigerator. If that is your procedure, then you need to have whoever is taking the orders over the phone inform customers of your procedure, when they order over the phone, if the information isn’t given, the customer has absolutely no way of knowing your procedure. I should have been instructed about your procedure when I ordered my drinks, simple. When the order was paid for, the person paying and picking up the order should have been informed. Stating that it’s the customer’s responsibility to do something they have been given zero information about is absolutely ridiculous and in very poor taste. As an owner you should know better.
