About Lotus Express
Welcome to Lotus Express, a Chinese restaurant located at 20505 S Dixie Hwy in Miami, Florida (33189), USA. As a long-standing establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, Lotus Express has been serving the local community for many years. According to customer reviews, it has built a reputation for providing good quality Chinese food that is notably gentle on sensitive digestive systems, making it a unique option for those who typically experience discomfort from other local Chinese eateries.
While specific details about the environment and interior design of Lotus Express are not extensively described in the provided reviews, we can infer that it operates as a local, likely family-run, Chinese restaurant. One long-term customer mentions that they have been eating there for 18 years, suggesting a stable presence in the community. The focus, based on the positive feedback regarding the food's tolerability, seems to be on the preparation and ingredients used. The mention of a change in staff from Chinese to Cuban ownership indicates a potential shift in the operational aspects of the restaurant, but the core mission of providing palatable Chinese cuisine appears to remain.
In terms of services, Lotus Express likely offers both dine-in and takeout options, which are standard for Chinese restaurants. The long-term customer's frequent patronage implies that they utilize the services regularly, whether for dining at the location or taking food to go. It is also probable that they accept phone orders for takeout, providing a convenient way for customers to order their meals in advance. The availability of delivery services is not explicitly mentioned in the provided information, so it would be advisable to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about this option if needed. The core services would typically include providing meals for on-site consumption and for pickup.
A significant feature of Lotus Express, highlighted by a long-term customer, is its suitability for individuals with sensitive digestive systems. This reviewer states that it is the "only Chinese food place my stomach can tolerate" and where they do not experience the adverse effects (upset stomach and vomiting) that they encounter with other local Chinese restaurants. This suggests that Lotus Express may use different cooking methods, ingredients, or perhaps avoids certain additives that commonly cause digestive issues for some people. This unique characteristic makes it a noteworthy option for those who have had negative experiences with other Chinese food establishments in the area.
The food at Lotus Express is generally described as "always good" and "priced right for what you receive" by the long-term customer. This indicates a consistent level of quality and reasonable value for the price. However, this reviewer also noted a change in portion sizes, specifically mentioning that before 2020, the food used to be packed very generously, filling containers to their maximum capacity. They observed that the portions have since become smaller, suggesting a potential shift in the restaurant's operational practices regarding serving sizes. This is an important point for potential customers who value generous portions.
Another customer, who initially gave a 5-star review, updated their feedback to express concern about the quality of the chicken. They mentioned that the chicken was no longer as crunchy as it used to be and raised a question about whether food from the previous night might be reused, based on their experiences during two recent early visits. While they still consider it a "great place to go when the food is fresh," this comment suggests a potential inconsistency in food preparation, particularly regarding the texture and freshness of the chicken. This highlights the importance of the timing of orders, with potentially fresher food being available at peak hours.
The change in staff from Chinese to Cuban management is also mentioned by the long-term customer. While they note this shift, they still maintain that the restaurant does not cause digestive issues for them, indicating that the change in ownership and staff has not negatively impacted this particular aspect of their experience. However, it is a notable change in the restaurant's operational background.

Local eateries may also advertise specials through flyers, local community boards, or social media if they have a presence.
In conclusion, Lotus Express in Miami offers a unique proposition as a Chinese restaurant that is reportedly gentle on sensitive stomachs, a significant draw for those who typically have issues with such cuisine from other establishments. Long-term customers praise the consistently good food and reasonable prices, although a recent observation indicates a reduction in portion sizes compared to pre-2020. Additionally, there is a mention of a potential decline in the crispiness of the chicken and a concern about food freshness during early visits. The restaurant has also seen a change in staff from Chinese to Cuban management. Despite these changes and concerns, Lotus Express remains a favored choice for at least one long-term customer due to its tolerability and overall quality when the food is fresh. Local users, especially those with digestive sensitivities, may find Lotus Express to be a viable option for enjoying Chinese food in Miami. We encourage potential customers to consider the provided feedback and perhaps inquire about the freshness of specific dishes when ordering.

I’ve been eating here practically for the 18 years I live here and I can say this is the only Chinese food place my stomach can tolerate and is good. This is the only Chinese place where my stomach doesn’t get upset and I vomit the next day. The food is always good & priced right for what you receive. However the portions now have gone from huge to small. Before 2020 the food used to be packed in the containers til the box can’t close. Now they don’t pack as much. I guess the staff just do it different? The staff back then was Chinese now the place is ran by Cubans. But I must say if your digestive system is sensitive to Chinese places you order from a local plaza, this one will not give you issues.
I usually like them but I’m updating my old review which was a 5-star because it seems as if the chicken isn’t crunchy as it used to. I’ve went early twice now and I’m unsure if they are just reusing what was left of the night before. Nonetheless, Still a great place to go when the food is fresh!
Lotus Express is a great little Chinese takeaway counter tucked inside Southland Mall's food court. They're always super generous with portions; my go-to is their lo mein with spicy orange chicken and potatoes. it's always delicious!
If you have dietary restrictions this location will lie to you just to get your money. I told them I was a vegetarian they said I could eat the egg fried rice. I thought it was good so I kept coming back. I slowly started to get sick. It turns out the rice is flavored with pork grease, as is the vegetables they serve. Some people have dietary restrictions because of health. All they care about here is your money
Very affordable Prices. My Favorite dish is the SUKIYAKI CHICKEN WITH LOMEIN AND MY DAUGHTER LOVES THE ORANGE CHICKEN 😻😻👍👍😽😽
