About Long River

Welcome to Long River, a Chinese restaurant located at 117 Bridgton Rd in Fryeburg, Maine. As a Chinese restaurant in the Fryeburg area, Long River offers dine-in services and likely provides takeout options as well. Based on recent customer reviews, experiences at Long River appear to be somewhat varied, with positive feedback on some aspects countered by significant concerns in others.

The environment of Long River is not extensively described in the provided reviews. One customer's comment about the state of the bathroom ("disgusting") suggests that at least this part of the premises may not be well-maintained. There is no other information provided about the dining area or overall ambiance of the restaurant.

Long River offers dine-in service, allowing customers to eat their meals at the restaurant. It is reasonable to assume that takeout service is also available, as is common for many Chinese restaurants, though this is not explicitly stated in the reviews. Customers interested in takeout should contact the restaurant directly to confirm. One reviewer mentioned positive service ("service was great"), indicating that some customers have had pleasant interactions with the staff. However, another review detailed a negative service experience related to a specific request, which will be discussed further below.

Regarding the food at Long River, customer opinions are mixed. One reviewer noted that the food's temperature was "very hot," which is generally a positive aspect for freshly prepared dishes. They also found the portion sizes to be "good" and the prices to be reasonable ("prices were good"). However, this same reviewer expressed disappointment with the flavor of their Kung Pao chicken, stating that it lacked sufficient flavor. Additionally, they found the wonton soup to be "so plain," indicating a lack of depth or complexity in this dish. This suggests that while some basic aspects like temperature and portion size might be satisfactory, the flavor profiles of certain dishes may not meet all customers' expectations.

Another customer's review focused heavily on a negative service encounter and did not provide much feedback on the food itself, other than mentioning they spent almost $80 on their order. This customer's primary issue stemmed from a request for a plastic food container for their autistic son, who prefers his food items separated. The reviewer described the lady's reaction as rolling her eyes and "shooing" them off, followed by being ignored by other staff behind the counter. When they went to sit down, they were then asked if they wanted a paper plate. This experience of being given a "dirty look" and ignored over a simple request for a plastic container left the customer feeling baffled and determined not to return, preferring to travel to North Conway for Chinese food instead. This incident highlights a significant issue with customer service and a lack of understanding or accommodation for specific needs.

The features of Long River, based on these reviews, include hot food, good portion sizes, and reasonable prices (according to one reviewer). However, potential drawbacks include inconsistent food flavor (specifically the Kung Pao chicken and wonton soup), a potentially unclean bathroom, and the possibility of negative and unaccommodating customer service, particularly when specific requests are made.

There is no information provided in the reviews regarding any promotional offers or specials that Long River might be running. Local users interested in learning about any discounts or promotions should contact the restaurant directly.

In conclusion, Long River in Fryeburg, ME, appears to be a Chinese restaurant with a mix of positive and negative aspects based on recent customer feedback. While some customers have found the food temperature, portion sizes, and prices to be satisfactory, there are concerns regarding the flavor of certain dishes and the cleanliness of the facilities, specifically the bathroom. Additionally, a significant negative service experience was reported, indicating potential issues with staff attitude and the handling of customer requests. Local users considering dining at or ordering from Long River should weigh these mixed reviews and perhaps consider their own priorities regarding food quality, service expectations, and cleanliness.

The foods temperature was very hot. The portion size was good and prices were good. Service was great. I was disappointed there wasn't more flavors in my kung pao chicken . I also was disappointed the wonton soup was so plain. I couldn't believe how disgusting the bathroom was . With a little work this could be a good restaurant.

Ordered almost 80$ worth of food. I asked for a plastic food container for my son who is autistic and don't like to have all his food together for the lady to roll her eyes at me and shoo me off then getting no response from anyone behind the counter then left standing there. And as I go to sit get asked if I want a paper plate. I mean to have been given a dirty look then ignored over a plastic to go container just baffled me so needless to say I won't be going back there would rather go to North Conway.

Only Chinese spot in the area... food was mediocre..used old oil to fry chicken and scallion pancakes. Your can taste the old burnt oil... not worth the money... but we wanted Chinese....1st time and probably never again.

Stopped in on way home from hiking. Staff was friendly, the service fast and food amazing. I got the Kung Pao chicken lunch special with pork fried rice, and an app of hot and sour soup. Portland might be known for the wealth of diverse food and restaurants, but so far as Chinese food goes I haven't found any that compare to Long River.
