About Lok Hin

Welcome to Lok Hin, a Chinese restaurant nestled at 299 Brook Ave in the Bronx, New York City. As a dedicated establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, Lok Hin aims to provide local users with a variety of Chinese culinary offerings. While specific details about the restaurant's ambiance are somewhat limited based on available information, customer feedback offers some insights into the dining experience.

According to one patron, Lok Hin presents itself as a "nice little cozy place." However, this coziness translates to limited space within the restaurant. This suggests that the primary focus of Lok Hin may not be on extensive dine-in seating, and it might be more suitable for individuals or small groups. The reviewer explicitly advises against bringing large families or groups of friends to eat at the premises due to the limited room. This points towards a more streamlined setup perhaps geared towards quick service and efficient order processing for takeout and pickup customers.

Despite the spatial constraints for dine-in customers, the same reviewer highlights a significant positive aspect: the food is considered "good," and the prices are described as "not bad at all." This suggests that Lok Hin offers reasonably priced Chinese dishes that are generally well-received in terms of taste and quality. For local residents seeking an affordable and tasty Chinese meal, Lok Hin appears to be a viable option.

A notable drawback mentioned by this customer is the lack of delivery service, expressing a wish that Lok Hin would extend its services to nearby areas. This indicates that currently, customers need to either visit the restaurant for pickup or dine in if they choose to eat their meal immediately. The reviewer concludes by recommending Lok Hin as a "great place for pickup and take out," reiterating the advice to avoid eating in if possible due to the limited space.

However, it is essential to present a balanced perspective by considering all available feedback. Another customer shared a less favorable experience. This review detailed issues with the quality and preparation of specific dishes. The reviewer's wife ordered sesame chicken and pork fried rice, and her initial reaction was negative due to the smell and appearance of the food. Upon tasting, she found the chicken to taste "refrigerated" and the rice to be "burnt." This feedback raises concerns about the freshness and proper cooking of these particular items on that occasion.

The same reviewer also ordered shrimp fried rice and boneless spareribs and reported dissatisfaction with their meal as well. According to this account, the meat (spareribs) was "under cooked," and the rice was described as "kind of hard." This further suggests potential inconsistencies in food preparation and quality control. The reviewer concluded with a strong negative sentiment, stating "not a good look never again," indicating a significant level of dissatisfaction with their experience.

Considering these contrasting reviews, it's important for potential customers to weigh the positive feedback regarding taste and price against the negative comments concerning food quality and the dine-in environment. The limited space seems to be a consistent observation, reinforcing the idea that Lok Hin primarily caters to takeout and pickup orders.

In summary, Lok Hin, located at 299 Brook Ave in the Bronx, offers Chinese cuisine with a focus on takeout and pickup services. While one customer found the food to be good and reasonably priced, another reported significant issues with the quality and preparation of their ordered dishes. The restaurant is described as "cozy" but small, making it less ideal for dining in, especially for larger groups. Currently, delivery service is not mentioned as an option. Therefore, local users seeking Chinese food from Lok Hin should be aware of the potential for varying experiences and the emphasis on off-premises consumption.

For those considering Lok Hin, it might be beneficial to try a smaller order initially to gauge the food quality based on personal preferences. The convenience of its location for pickup in the Bronx could be a deciding factor for local residents. However, the feedback regarding potential inconsistencies in food preparation warrants consideration.

To get the most up-to-date information on Lok Hin's menu, hours of operation, and any potential promotions, contacting them directly via phone at (718) 402-4171 or mobile phone at +1 718-402-4171 is recommended. This will allow you to inquire about their current offerings and any specific concerns you might have based on the available reviews.

As a Chinese restaurant in the Bronx, Lok Hin positions itself within a competitive culinary landscape. Local users have various options when it comes to Chinese cuisine, and the decision to choose Lok Hin may depend on factors such as proximity, price sensitivity, and preferred dining style (takeout vs. dine-in). The existing customer reviews provide a glimpse into the potential experience, highlighting both the positive aspects of affordability and taste for some, and the negative aspects of food quality and limited dine-in space for others.

Prospective customers are encouraged to consider these points and perhaps try Lok Hin for themselves to form their own opinion. Supporting local businesses can be a rewarding experience, and Lok Hin offers a neighborhood option for those craving Chinese food in the Brook Avenue area of the Bronx. Remember to call ahead for any specific dietary requirements or preparation requests you may have.

Ultimately, Lok Hin presents a mixed picture based on the limited available information. Its strength appears to lie in its convenience for takeout and potentially its pricing. However, the reported inconsistencies in food quality and the confined dining space are factors that potential customers should be aware of before making a decision.

I like Lok Hin, It's a nice little cozy place meaning there isn't much room in the store so don't bring your family and friends to eat with you. The food is good and the prices are not bad at all I wish they delivered and I'm not that far away. Great place for pickup and take out don't eat in if you can help it.

Look…. It’s a Chinese fast food in a neighborhood. This is not authentic Chinese food. I know… The fried rice is old rice. Maybe a day or two and they fry it ti mask the taste and smell. They don’t throw anything out, the oil is changed every two ti three weeks. How do I know? I’ve worked at many Chinese joints, they all share the same work ethics 🤣. Now truth be told… when you have a few drinks in you or a few blunts you will order . Wuut wuut!!
