About Little Mandarin

Located at 538 3rd St in San Rafael, California, Little Mandarin operates within the Chinese Restaurant category and has garnered a reputation for providing consistently good food and friendly service to its patrons. Based on the available customer reviews, it appears to be a place where long-term customers have experienced reliable quality over time. However, recent feedback also raises a point of concern regarding price increases, particularly on their lunch specials.

One long-time customer expresses strong satisfaction with the food, stating, "The food here is great! I'm a long-time customer. It's always been consistent." This highlights a significant strength of Little Mandarin: the reliability of their culinary offerings. Consistency in food quality is a crucial factor for repeat business, and this review suggests that Little Mandarin has successfully maintained its standards over an extended period. This provides reassurance to potential new customers that they can expect a certain level of quality in their meals.

Further praise is given to the staff, who are described as "friendly." Positive interactions with restaurant staff can greatly enhance the overall dining experience, making customers feel welcome and valued. This friendly demeanor likely contributes to the loyalty of long-term patrons. Additionally, the reviewer notes a personal touch, mentioning that "the lady at the counter knows her regular customer's orders." This level of familiarity and personalized service can create a strong sense of community and make regular customers feel particularly appreciated. It suggests that Little Mandarin values its returning clientele and fosters a welcoming atmosphere.

However, a more recent review raises a significant issue regarding the pricing of their lunch specials. The customer expresses their dissatisfaction with the cost, stating, "STOP RAISING THE PRICES 'lunch special' at any Chinese restaurant never hits close to $20. Price alone is the reason I won’t be coming back." This feedback indicates a perceived lack of value in the current pricing of their lunch specials compared to the customer's expectations for this type of offering at a Chinese restaurant. The reviewer also notes a trend of increasing prices, mentioning that prices have changed "2/3 times in the past 2 years" and expressing concern about potential future price hikes. This suggests that while the food and service may have been satisfactory in the past, the increasing cost is becoming a deterrent for some customers.

Considering these reviews, the environment of Little Mandarin is likely that of a typical, well-regarded neighborhood Chinese restaurant. The mention of friendly staff suggests a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for both dine-in and takeout customers. The fact that the counter staff recognize regular customers implies a degree of familiarity and personal interaction within the space. While the cleanliness of the environment isn't explicitly mentioned, the positive remarks about food consistency and friendly service often correlate with a well-maintained establishment.

In terms of services, Little Mandarin likely offers both dine-in and takeout options, as is common for many Chinese restaurants. The mention of a "lunch special" suggests a specific offering during lunchtime, potentially with different pricing or menu items compared to their regular dinner menu. The personalized service noted by the long-term customer indicates a focus on customer relations. However, the recent price increase on the lunch special could be seen as a change in their service or value proposition from a customer's perspective.

Key features of Little Mandarin appear to be the consistent quality of their food, which has satisfied long-term customers, and the friendly and attentive staff who provide personalized service to regulars. However, a potentially negative feature that has emerged is the increasing price of their lunch specials, which has become a concern for at least one customer. Potential new customers should be aware of this recent feedback regarding pricing.

Currently, there is no explicit promotional information provided in the reviews. The "lunch special" itself can be considered a type of promotion, but the recent price increases have negatively impacted at least one customer's perception of its value. Local users considering Little Mandarin might want to inquire about the current prices of their lunch specials and other menu items to ensure they align with their expectations.

In conclusion, Little Mandarin in San Rafael has a history of providing great and consistent food, coupled with friendly and personalized service that has fostered loyalty among its long-term customers. However, recent price increases on their lunch specials have become a point of concern for at least one reviewer, who found the cost to be higher than expected for such an offering at a Chinese restaurant. Potential customers should weigh the positive feedback regarding food and service against the recent comments about pricing when considering Little Mandarin for their Chinese dining needs. It may be beneficial to check their current menu and prices directly to make an informed decision.

I’m not even about to write a long review I’m going to keep it short. STOP RAISING THE PRICES “lunch special” at any Chinese restaurant never hits close to $20. Price alone is the reason I won’t be coming back. Prices have changed 2/3 times in the past 2 years. Next thing you know it’ll be $25 for a “lunch special”

Petition to add MSG to all dishes starting today. I went tonight and felt something was missing, then i realized, there is intentionally no msg to cater to the white customers. There is no need, bring on the MSG! The more the better.
