According to an updated review from November 16, 2023, Little Hunan Restaurant has reopened after being closed for eight months. This news will likely be welcomed by its long-standing customer base. The reviewer, who has been a patron for over 15 years, expressed happiness at seeing the same staff members upon reopening. Importantly, indoor dining has resumed at Little Hunan. Prior to the reopening, as noted in a review from July of the previous year, the restaurant was operating on a to-go only basis. The reviewer confirmed that the food quality remains consistent with their past experiences, having ordered their usual beef chow fun, combo chow mein, and salt and pepper deep-fried spare ribs, all of which were described as "awesome."

The original review provides further insights into Little Hunan's offerings and service style. It mentions that even when indoor dining was temporarily unavailable, the restaurant was known for consistently delivering on the taste of traditional American/Chinese dishes. The reviewer highlighted the restaurant's decades-long presence in the community as a testament to its reliability. In terms of service speed, the review notes that orders are typically processed quickly, provided there isn't a significant wait. The reviewer also listed several popular dishes they have enjoyed in the past, including Hong Kong style pan-fried noodles (characterized by the noodles being placed on top of the sauce to prevent sogginess during takeout), salt and pepper spare ribs, salt and pepper chicken wings, and various chow fun and other noodle dishes. The overall assessment in the original review was that "Little Hunan is solid."

Another customer review echoed the positive sentiment regarding the food, specifically mentioning the Mongolian beef and a Kung Pao with rice combo as being "legit great!" This reviewer also appreciated the generous portions, noting that there were leftovers for the next day. Additionally, they commented on the speed of service and the appealing smell of the food upon receiving it.

Based on these reviews, Little Hunan Restaurant appears to specialize in familiar American-Chinese cuisine with a focus on consistent taste and generous portions. Their Hong Kong style pan-fried noodles, salt and pepper spare ribs, and various chow mein and chow fun options seem to be popular choices among regular customers. The recent reopening with the return of indoor dining is a significant development for those who prefer to eat at the restaurant. The fact that long-time customers recognize the staff suggests a stable and familiar environment.

While specific details about the restaurant's ambiance or decor are not provided in the reviews, the mention of indoor dining resuming implies that there is a physical dining space available for customers. The focus of the reviews is primarily on the food quality, service speed (especially for takeout), and the return to full operation after a temporary closure.

The service at Little Hunan is described as "fast on the orders" when there isn't a long wait, indicating efficiency in their takeout service. The friendly recognition of long-term customers by the staff suggests a personal touch and a sense of community. However, there are no detailed descriptions of the dine-in service experience beyond the fact that it has now reopened.

A notable feature of Little Hunan, as mentioned by a reviewer, is their preparation of Hong Kong style pan-fried noodles, where the noodles are kept crisp by being placed on top of the sauce for takeout orders. This thoughtful approach to maintaining food quality for takeout is a distinct feature appreciated by at least one customer. The consistent quality of their traditional American/Chinese dishes over many years is also a significant feature, contributing to their long-standing popularity in the community.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. However, the reopening after an eight-month closure could be considered a significant event for their loyal customers, potentially drawing them back to the restaurant. Local users might want to inquire directly with the restaurant about any reopening specials or ongoing promotions.

In conclusion, Little Hunan Restaurant in Daly City is a long-established Chinese restaurant known for its consistent quality in traditional American/Chinese cuisine, particularly dishes like beef chow fun, combo chow mein, salt and pepper spare ribs, and Hong Kong style pan-fried noodles. The restaurant has recently reopened for indoor dining after a significant closure, with familiar staff members returning. Customers appreciate the generous portions and quick service for takeout. While details about the dining environment are limited, the focus remains on the reliable and tasty food that has made Little Hunan a solid neighborhood favorite for over 15 years. Local users looking for dependable American-Chinese fare, whether for dine-in or takeout, might find Little Hunan Restaurant a worthwhile option.

Updated review 11/16/2023: Little Hunan has re-opened! They were closed for eight months. As a customer for over 15+ years, I was really happy to see the same people working there. Indoor dining is finally back. When I was here back in July of last year, they were to-go only. The food is still good. I got my usual beef chow fun, combo chow mein and salt and pepper deep fried spare ribs. It was awesome to taste their food again. Original review: Indoor dining has not re-opened. I spoke with the counter lady and they don't plan on doing it anytime soon. Tonight I tried their dinner combo A $32 for two people. It comes with a small wonton soup, egg rolls, sweet & sour pork, broccoli chicken and BBQ pork fried rice. In terms of taste, they usually nail the traditional American/Chinese dishes spot on. They have been there for decades. If there aren't that many people waiting, they are fast on the orders. In the past, I usually order their Hong Kong style pan fried noodles (they put the noodles on top of the sauce so that it doesn't get soggy when you get home), salt pepper spare ribs, salt pepper chicken wings, chow fun and other noodles. Little Hunan is solid.

Love the food here! Best Chinese food you will ever get and for cheap too! Atmosphere could use a bit more work, decorated kinda plain and there's no music, just a TV we can't even hear. My biggest complaint is that they close at random times and often for long periods of time and I have no way of knowing unless I call in beforehand to know what time they close that day. If they don't pick up, they're closed.
