About Little China Restaurant
Little China Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant located at 2743 W 5th St in Lumberton, North Carolina. Serving the local community and passersby, Little China Restaurant offers a variety of Chinese dishes for both dine-in and takeout customers. They can be contacted at (910) 370-0470 or via their mobile number +1 910-370-0470 for inquiries or to place orders.
Based on the available online reviews, Little China Restaurant presents a somewhat contrasting picture of its offerings. One reviewer, who stopped by while traveling from NC to FL and was craving chicken fried rice, shared a less than favorable experience with this particular dish. They ordered a large/quart size and noted a scarcity of chicken, with only about 7-8 small strips present throughout the entire dish. The amount of peas was also described as very few, while the onions were present in an "ok" quantity. The rice itself did not seem fried in the traditional manner of chicken fried rice. While the reviewer found it "ok," they indicated that if they were local, Little China Restaurant would not be their preferred Chinese eatery. They also tried the egg rolls, which they described as "just ok" as well. Ultimately, this reviewer stated they wouldn't strongly recommend the place but conceded it would suffice "in a pinch."
In contrast, another reviewer expressed significant positive feedback, stating they "can’t believe I found such authentic Chinese food in this small town!" They acknowledged that while the menu leans towards American Chinese cuisine, the dishes still managed to retain flavors characteristic of traditional Chinese cooking. This reviewer specifically praised the beef preparation, noting it was "expertly prepared in advance," which they saw as a sign of dedication to quality. They concluded by stating that it was clear the restaurant owners put "a lot of heart into running this cozy little restaurant" and gave it a "highly recommended" endorsement.
Considering these two reviews, the environment of Little China Restaurant is described as "cozy" by one reviewer, suggesting a comfortable and perhaps intimate setting. The fact that a traveler passing through found it easily on Google indicates its accessibility. However, neither review provides extensive details about the ambiance or decor of the restaurant itself, leaving this aspect somewhat open to interpretation based on the "cozy" descriptor.
The services offered by Little China Restaurant include both dine-in and takeout, as customers mentioned stopping by and ordering food. The menu appears to feature a range of American Chinese cuisine, with at least some dishes retaining elements of traditional Chinese cooking. The preparation of beef in advance, as noted by one reviewer, suggests a particular approach to certain dishes, possibly focusing on tenderness and flavor infusion. The availability of standard fare like chicken fried rice and egg rolls indicates they cater to common expectations for a Chinese restaurant.
The features of Little China Restaurant are somewhat nuanced based on the reviews. One potential feature is the attempt to maintain authentic Chinese flavors even within the realm of Americanized dishes. The "expertly prepared" beef is another highlighted feature suggesting a focus on quality for certain ingredients. The "cozy" atmosphere might be a feature appealing to some diners. However, the preparation of the chicken fried rice, with a limited amount of chicken and a non-traditional "not fried" rice, as well as the "just ok" egg rolls, could be seen as less favorable features for those expecting standard versions of these dishes. The perceived authenticity by one reviewer, despite the Americanized menu, is a significant point of distinction.
Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Local Chinese restaurants often offer lunch specials, combo meals, or family deals. To learn about any current promotions, daily specials, or their full menu, which might shed more light on their approach to blending American and traditional Chinese cuisine, local users are encouraged to contact Little China Restaurant directly at (910) 370-0470 or +1 910-370-0470. They may also have information about any unique or signature dishes that showcase their fusion of culinary styles.
In conclusion, Little China Restaurant in Lumberton, NC, offers a blend of American Chinese cuisine with an apparent effort to retain authentic flavors. While one traveler found the chicken fried rice and egg rolls to be just average, another local reviewer was impressed by the authenticity and the quality of dishes like the beef. The restaurant is described as "cozy," suggesting a comfortable environment. Services include both dine-in and takeout. Potential customers might find the restaurant's approach to balancing Americanized favorites with traditional Chinese cooking to be a unique feature. Local users interested in exploring this blend and experiencing what one reviewer described as surprisingly authentic should consider visiting Little China Restaurant. It might be worthwhile to inquire about their specialty dishes and the preparation methods to get a better sense of their culinary focus.

Customer Reviews
Stopped here for some chicken fried rice craving. We were just driving through going from NC to FL and found this place on Google because it was in the line of direction we were going. We got the large/qt size and there was only about 7-8 small strips of chicken in the entire dish. Even fewer peas and an ok amount of onions. The rice didn't seem fried at all like a normal chicken fried rice dish. It was ok but if I lived in the area this would not be my favorite Chinese restaurant. We got an egg roll each and they were also just ok. I wouldn't really recommend this place but it would do in a pinch.
I can’t believe I found such authentic Chinese food in this small town! Even though the menu leans toward American Chinese cuisine, the dishes still retain the flavors of traditional Chinese cooking. The beef is expertly prepared in advance, which really shows their dedication to quality. It’s clear they put a lot of heart into running this cozy little restaurant. Highly recommended!
Ordered General Tso Chicken, it was so good I got another one the next night. The lady was very nice and friendly service. I can’t wait to try the wings. Food was hot and fresh.
I was greatly disappointed with them because for one; the reviews were good and a high scale friend on the councilman board had recommended them. But my food was trash! And I know even the best of them have bad days sometimes and I understand that but not owning up and just apologizing and trying fix the issue(is when the problem starts) you get smart and try to deny what I am seeing and tasting. My food was half cooked and tasted horrible and when I go in to tell the young lady she gets smart ! My egg roll was so soft and cold i couldn’t even believe they gave that to me. Not only the food but I was the only customer I go sit in my car for about -15mins and go back in they only had cooked a portion of my food and the guy(the cook) was sitting down and she said something to him and jumps up to start cooking and now I had to wait an additional 10-15mins. I most definitely will not go back! Not because of the mistake but the attitude that was given while I’m sitting there with proof and I came respectfully telling her what was going on…. Bad customer service
