About Little Chengdu
Welcome to Little Chengdu, a newly established presence in Millbrae, California, located at 213 El Camino Real. Formerly known as Little Sichuan in San Mateo, Little Chengdu has reopened its doors, bringing the bold and exciting flavors of Sichuan cuisine to a new location within the Chinese Restaurant category. Situated on El Camino Real, a central thoroughfare in Millbrae, Little Chengdu offers a taste of authentic Sichuan dishes to local residents and visitors alike.
You can contact Little Chengdu at (650) 651-7039 or via mobile at +1 650-651-7039 for any inquiries or to place an order. The availability of both phone numbers suggests a commitment to customer service and ease of contact.
Based on recent customer feedback, the environment of Little Chengdu is described as "cozy," although it is noted to be smaller than its previous location. Despite the size adjustment, the ambiance appears to be welcoming and comfortable for diners. The fact that the restaurant became full quickly in the evening and had a waiting line suggests its popularity and appeal to those seeking a satisfying meal.
Little Chengdu offers a modern and efficient service model. Customers can directly place their orders by scanning a code, which likely leads to an online ordering system. After the online order is submitted, a waiter confirms the menu and the preferred level of spiciness for the dishes. This streamlined process contributes to the restaurant's ability to serve food quickly, as highlighted by a satisfied customer. The efficient service does not compromise the quality or taste of the food, as multiple reviewers have praised the flavors.
A standout feature of Little Chengdu is its focus on authentic Sichuan cuisine, known for its liberal use of Sichuan peppercorns, which impart a unique numbing and spicy sensation. A returning customer specifically mentioned the "Sichuan Spicy Cold Noodle" as being consistently excellent, with a generous portion size and a flavorful sauce. This dish appears to be a signature item that has retained its quality and appeal even after the restaurant's relocation and rebranding.
Another notable feature, and a new addition for some customers, is the "Tea Smoked Duck." This dish was described as surprisingly good, with a flavor profile reminiscent of smoked turkey but with a subtle hint of tea. While it had a slightly smoky aroma, the overall taste was excellent and not overly bitter. This indicates that Little Chengdu is not only maintaining its beloved classics but also introducing new and intriguing dishes to its menu, showcasing a blend of traditional and innovative Sichuan flavors.
The generous portion sizes are also a significant feature of Little Chengdu. One reviewer recounted a past experience at the previous location (Little Sichuan) where the portions were large enough to share, and this characteristic seems to have carried over to the new establishment. The Cold Noodle, for instance, was ample enough for two people, providing good value for money and preventing over-ordering.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information mentioned in the provided reviews. However, the fact that the restaurant is quickly gaining popularity and experiencing waiting times suggests that their food and service are compelling enough to attract customers without explicit promotions. It would be advisable to check their online ordering platform or inquire directly with the restaurant about any current specials or offers.
One practical consideration mentioned by a customer is that parking around the area might be a bit difficult. This is useful information for local users planning to visit Little Chengdu, suggesting they might need to factor in extra time for finding a parking spot, especially during peak hours when the restaurant is busy.
In conclusion, Little Chengdu, formerly Little Sichuan, located at 213 El Camino Real in Millbrae, offers a promising and authentic Sichuan dining experience. With a cozy atmosphere, efficient online ordering system, and quick service, it caters to those looking for a satisfying meal. The consistently praised Sichuan Spicy Cold Noodle and the surprisingly delightful Tea Smoked Duck highlight the quality and flavor of their cuisine. The generous portion sizes also offer good value. While parking might be a challenge, the overall positive feedback and growing popularity of Little Chengdu suggest it is a worthwhile destination for those seeking genuine Sichuan flavors in Millbrae. For inquiries or to place an order, you can contact them at (650) 651-7039 or +1 650-651-7039. Be prepared for a potential wait during peak hours, a testament to their growing reputation.

We arrive at the restaurant after six o'clock in the afternoon, so we don't have to wait. Order directly by scanning the code and ordering online, and then a waiter will confirm the menu and spicy degree. They serve food quickly and taste good. When we left, the restaurant was full and there were people waiting to into the restaurant.
Went back to "Little Chengdu," which used to be "Little Sichuan" in San Mateo. Happy they're open again after the pandemic. The new place is smaller but feels cozy. Had a nice surprise when my partner debated a third dish; I remembered their big portions, so I said no. The Cold Noodle was still big enough for both of us! My favorite, the Sichuan Spicy Cold Noodle, was as good as always. Big portion, tasty sauce—satisfying. Tried Tea Smoked Duck for the first time, and it was better than expected. Tastes like smoked turkey with a hint of tea. Smelled a bit smoky, but the flavor was excellent, not too bitter. Just a heads up, parking around the area might be a bit difficult.
Love this place. Probably the best sichuan style food in the bay area. Super tasty and great if you love to eat spicy sichuan style food! Great value for big dishes, you should plan to take food home so you can enjoy one or two more times. My favorite is the spicy beef. Staff is so nice! Make sure you are clear with the server how spicy you like your food!
This is official my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area. Their 松鼠桂鱼(pine fried fish with tomato sauce) is absolutely fantastic. We were just walking past one day and saw they have 松鼠桂鱼on their menu, so we decided to give it a try. It was the BEST we’ve had in the United States. It is my bf’s favorite Chinese dish since childhood. They do a great job. The flavor is just the right amount of sweet and sour. The fish is fried very well - not too much dough, a lot of fish meat, and most impressive of all - ALL BONES ARE REMOVED! We’ve been regular customer of theirs since then. All their other dishes are all super authentic and the price is much more reasonable than a lot of Chinese restaurants in South Bay.
I should have taken a picture of the menu because I didn’t remember any of the names lol. I went to this place two times so far and I kind of like it. The service was good and they served the food pretty quick too. I know Szechuan cuisine is very spicy in general and I normally can’t stand it, but I really like the taste in this place. And they would serve you some orange slices at the end of your meal which is really nice! And there are parking spots around the area. Definitely will go back to this restaurant :)
