About Lin's Garden
Lin's Garden is a Chinese restaurant located at 317 E 170th St in the Bronx, New York City. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Lin's Garden serves the local community, offering a range of Chinese-American dishes primarily for takeout and delivery, based on the nature of the reviews provided. While some customers find the food to be generally decent and have become repeat patrons, there are notable concerns raised regarding the restaurant's pricing practices.
One customer provided some insight into the environment of Lin's Garden, noting that the "place seems well kept" but not new. This suggests that while the restaurant may not have a modern or recently renovated appearance, it maintains a level of cleanliness that is noticeable to customers. This can be an important factor for those who prefer to pick up their orders or may occasionally dine in if that option is available (though not explicitly stated in the reviews).
The services at Lin's Garden appear to focus on takeout and delivery, as the reviews discuss ordering food to be consumed elsewhere. One long-term customer mentioned ordering frequently and eventually updating their rating positively based on the consistent quality of the food over multiple orders. This suggests that Lin's Garden is a convenient option for those in the neighborhood seeking Chinese cuisine for at-home dining. However, one significant service-related issue raised by a customer is the consistent discrepancy between the menu prices and the actual charges, indicating a potential problem with billing accuracy.
A recurring feature of Lin's Garden, according to customer feedback, is the generally decent quality of their food. One reviewer initially found the food "usually decent" and later updated their review to state that after trying a variety of dishes, they are "pretty good." This suggests a level of consistency in their food preparation that leads to repeat business. Specific dishes that have been mentioned positively include the fried rib tips with pork fried rice, which one customer enjoyed and planned to order again. Chicken wings and French fries were also mentioned as an order placed by another customer's mother. The fact that a customer who tried other local establishments kept returning to Lin's Garden indicates a level of satisfaction with their food that surpasses some competitors in the area.
However, a significant and concerning feature highlighted by one reviewer is the consistent overcharging. This customer stated that despite the restaurant being "always fully stocked with menus," the prices charged are "NEVER the price on the menu, always more." They further elaborated that while a small overcharge on a single plate might not be significant, it can add up when ordering for multiple people, especially on days when the food quality might be lacking. This issue of pricing discrepancy is a major drawback and a point of caution for potential customers. The reviewer's frustration suggests that this is not an isolated incident but a consistent practice at Lin's Garden.
Currently, the provided information does not include any specific promotional details for Lin's Garden. The fact that they have repeat customers who find the food "pretty good" serves as an implicit endorsement of their culinary offerings. However, the negative feedback regarding the consistent overcharging could outweigh the positive comments about the food for some potential customers. Local users considering Lin's Garden should be aware of this reported pricing issue and might want to confirm the prices at the time of ordering to avoid unexpected charges. The lack of any mentioned promotions suggests that their primary draw is the food itself, albeit with the caveat of potential pricing discrepancies.
In conclusion, Lin's Garden in the Bronx, NY, is a Chinese restaurant that appears to offer generally decent food and has cultivated a local following of repeat customers. The restaurant is described as well-kept, and customers have enjoyed dishes such as fried rib tips with pork fried rice, as well as chicken wings and French fries. However, a significant concern has been raised regarding the consistent practice of overcharging customers compared to the prices listed on their menus. This pricing discrepancy can be a considerable drawback, especially for larger orders. Local users considering Lin's Garden should be aware of both the positive feedback on the food quality and the negative reports about the billing practices. While the food may be satisfactory for many, it would be prudent to verify prices when ordering to avoid unexpected costs.

The food is usually decent. However, they are always fully stocked with menus, but you are NEVER charged the price on the menu, always more. If being overcharged every time doesn't bother you, you're alright. However, when you're trying to feed 3 or 4 people, an overcharge of a dollar each plate starts to hurt, especially on those days when the food has no taste or is nasty..
I like it, had fried rib tips with pork fried rice. Will order more to update rating. My mom had chicken wings & French fries. Place seems well kept, won't say looks new but apparently alot of people in the neighborhood have had their food with very little complaints. Update Nov 2022 - I've had a lot of their food now and they're pretty good. I've had other places around here but keep coming back because I know I'll like it.
Boneless spare rib lunch combo slaps $8 well spent
This is the most disgusting food I have ever had! The house fried rice taste & smelled like fish, the egg rolls was nasty and the chicken wings taste like nothing. I also ordered sweet & sour chicken & Most of the sweet-and-sour chicken didn’t have any chicken in it, it was just fried pieces a batter!
It's a good take out spot the best in the Morrisania, Bronx neighborhood for me. The girl behind the glass is so nice you don't get the attitude you see at some other Chinese restaurants. The food is good takeout and they give good portions for a good price.
