About Lin Asian Bar + Dim Sum

Lin Asian Bar + Dim Sum in Austin provides a delightful and authentic Chinese culinary experience. Praised by those familiar with traditional Chinese home-cooked food and visitors to China, Lin's is recognized for its delicious and genuine dishes. The restaurant boasts a nice and clean ambiance, complemented by friendly service, creating a welcoming environment for diners.

A unique feature of Lin Asian Bar + Dim Sum is the open view of the staff making dumplings, where customers can observe the generous amount of filling used. This transparency highlights the restaurant's commitment to quality and portion sizes, which are noted to be generous and well worth the price.

Described as an upscale and popular Chinese and dim sum destination, Lin's offers a great ambiance and excellent service. It's considered an ideal place to introduce family and friends to dim sum. Due to its popularity, reservations are highly recommended, as wait times can extend to an hour or more. The upscale nature of the restaurant is reflected in its ambiance, service, and consequently, its higher price point. The decor is described as "on point," and the murals on the side of the building are noted as gorgeous, contributing to the overall aesthetic appeal.

One of Lin's signature dishes is the spectacular seafood soup dumpling. This isn't your typical soup dumpling; it's a large dumpling containing what is essentially a whole bowl of soup filled with large chunks of seafood in a rich and flavorful broth. While visually impressive and delicious, it's also noted to be a bit challenging to eat without making a mess. The regular soup dumplings are also highly praised for being very juicy, and the restaurant provides a small cup to aid in eating them, a thoughtful alternative to a traditional soup spoon.

Overall, the dishes at Lin Asian Bar + Dim Sum are described as delicious and an elevated take on more traditional dim sum. The restaurant is Asian-owned by Chef Ling, adding a local touch and a story that many appreciate supporting.

Regarding practicalities, parking can be a little tricky, with spots available in the back, a nearby lot with additional spaces, and some street parking in the vicinity. Despite the potential parking challenge, the overall positive dining experience, characterized by authentic food, generous portions, upscale ambiance, and excellent service, makes Lin Asian Bar + Dim Sum a highly recommended Chinese restaurant in Austin.

Delicious food. I’m Chinese-American, grew up on real home cooked Chinese food, and have visited China many times. Lin’s makes authentic Chinese dishes and it was so delicious!! Honestly loved everything we had here. Sat at the bar and was able to see the workers making dumplings—they stuffed the dumplings with so much filling. That’s another awesome thing about this place- the serving sizes are generous and well worth the price. Nice and clean ambience as well and friendly service.

Upscale popular Chinese and dim sum with great ambiance and excellent service. A great place to take family and less initiated friends for dim sum. It’s very popular so make reservations or be prepared to wait an hour or more. It’s upscale in ambiance and service as well so the prices are higher accordingly. The decor is on point and the murals on the side of the building are gorgeous. One of their signature dishes is their seafood soup dumpling. Think a giant soup dumpling containing a whole bowl of soup with large chunks of seafood in a rich and a flavorful broth. It looks really cool. It’s a little difficult to eat without making a mess. The regular soup dumplings were very juicy. They give you a small cup to help you eat your soup dumpling instead of a traditional soup spoon which worked out well. All the dishes we had were delicious and upscaled from more traditional dim sum. Asian owned by Chef Ling. Love to support local small businesses with a great story. Parking is a little tricky. There’s spots in the back and a lot near by with a few more spots as well as near by street parking.

I recently dined at Lin Restaurant, and it was an incredible experience! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Our waitress, Sherry, was absolutely fantastic. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Now, let’s talk about the food – it was simply amazing! Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. You can tell that a lot of care goes into the preparation. I especially enjoyed the dumplings which was a highlight of the meal. Overall, my experience at Lin Restaurant was unforgettable, thanks in no small part to Sherry's outstanding service. I can't wait to come back and enjoy another wonderful meal! Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for great food and excellent service.

The scallion pancake with curry and fried siew mai are great, chao shou is not what we expected, a tad too sweet for our liking but the seafood udon is amazing with a huge portion. Fried rice and Gungbao shrimps are okay.
