Customer reviews for Lily Sushi Grill are extremely polarized, presenting vastly different experiences. One reviewer describes Lily Sushi as their "go-to place for all you can eat sushi in the Lehigh Valley," consistently finding the "food and service are always excellent." They recommend any of the rolls and enjoyed their Thai tea.
In stark contrast, another reviewer recounted a "completely miserable experience." They described the service as "slow," with incorrect orders and difficulty even getting water. The server was noted to be a single individual on a Friday night, dressed in a "sloppy t-shirt" without a uniform. Multiple food dishes were sent back due to issues like being cold when they should have been hot. The Kani salad was described as "frozen" and lacking typical ingredients. The sushi presentation was poor, with a "SPLAT" of wasabi and rolls that looked like a "science project" and were falling apart, containing mostly rice and only slivers of the listed meat. This reviewer questioned the freshness of the ingredients and the quality of the rice. They also found the building decor, characterized by "faux florals" and "fuzzy blankets" on couches, to be "weird and completely uninviting." This customer strongly advised others to "AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!" and stated they "Would not feed to a child or pet."
Based on these reviews, Lily Sushi Grill in Allentown, PA, elicits strong but contradictory reactions from customers. While one patron enjoys the all-you-can-eat sushi, excellent food and service, and good Thai tea, another describes a severely negative experience with poor service, subpar and potentially unsafe food quality, and an unappealing environment. Local users should be aware of this significant disparity in customer experiences when considering Lily Sushi Grill.
The environment is described by one reviewer as covered in faux florals with fuzzy blankets in the waiting area, creating a weird and uninviting atmosphere. Another reviewer found it satisfactory. Services include dine-in with potential all-you-can-eat sushi and bar service (Thai tea mentioned). Features are described as excellent food and service by one reviewer, while another reports issues with slow service, incorrect orders, and poor food quality and presentation. I imagine if prisons made sushi for the inmates, it would taste just like the sushi here. I tried my best to give this place a chance and really trusted in god. Was completely starving at the time. Here’s how it went… Before I start to inform you of my experience, please realize I DO EAT GROCERY STORE SUSHI (which would have been a HUGE upgrade to this place). Yes, I’ve also been to highly rated sushi restaurants too. However, sushi is truly not complicated. SERVICE: was slow, did not get what we ordered. Had to beg waiter for a water. There was one server/bartender on a Friday night dressed in sloppy t-shirt no uniform. FOOD: Of the items we ordered, we sent back multiple dishes and did not need replacements. Items were cold that were suppose to be hot. Kani salad was frozen with the only crunch to it being ice from the imitation crab meat thawing. Kani salad had no crunchies, cucumbers or caviar as it customarily does. The actual sushi came with a SPLAT of wasabi that looked like my cat through it up. Every single roll looked like a science project and loose as ever it was falling apart. Whatever meat the rolls were listed to have was just a sliver and basically all rice. Who knows if the rice was sushi grade. Nothing seemed fresh and everything seemed like it was sitting out. BUILDING & DECORE- This place was covered in faux florals and the couches in the waiting area where covered with fuzzy blankets. Just so weird and completely uninviting. I tried very hard to make the meal bearable, but it was a completely miserable experience. I should have walked out on this place immediately. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! Would not feed to a child or pet.
Lily Sushi has become our go-to place for all you can eat sushi in the Lehigh Valley. The food and service are always excellent. You can not go wrong with any of the rolls. I finally ordered a Thai tea from them, and it did not disappoint.
All you can eat sushi might sound like a bad idea, but we were pleasantly surprised. The rolls were fresh and tasty, with a huge variety to choose from. Other options on the menu complemented the sushi nicley and made for a quality meal. Plenty of parking and the wait was not more than a few minutes when we arrived. Worth a visit.
My first experience at Lily's made a lasting impression on me and I am already eager to return! My boyfriend and I sat in the all-you-can-eat section. You mark off on the paper menus provided what you'd like and the quantity, and your server collects the papers to begin the process of getting you your selected dishes! Our server (I didn't catch his name, sadly) was polite and kind, bringing us our selections in a quick manner that reflects great preparation and timing by the cooks/chefs. The atmosphere was intimate and quiet. Everyone had their privacy and the overall experience was cozy and friendly. Something I learned: order only what you can eat at a time! You can always order more! Lily's is very transparent about their no-waste policy which I think is fantastic and fair! Posting a few photos. 12/10 highly recommend Lily's Sushi Grill
Honestly for the price there's no where else that you could eat so much sushi until you're uncomfortable. It's not the fanciest sushi in the world but for the price, the value is there. There's a lot of options on the sushi and sashimi menus. It's a very extensive all you can eat menu. Lunch specials are really good deals on 2 and 3 roll combos.
