About Lemay Garden

Lemay Garden is a Chinese restaurant located at 2550 Lemay Ferry Rd in St. Louis, Missouri (MO 63125), USA. As a local establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, it has received contrasting feedback from recent customers, which potential local users should carefully consider.

One very recent and highly critical review expresses strong dissatisfaction with almost every aspect of the dining experience. The reviewer, who lives nearby and decided to try Lemay Garden based on its online rating (which they found misleading at 4.2 stars), stated that if anyone with discerning taste liked the food, they must have been paid to give a good review. This sets a highly negative tone for their detailed account.

The reviewer listed several specific issues encountered during their visit: Firstly, the service was described as "slow," with only one woman apparently managing the entire operation. Secondly, the Hot and Sour Soup was deemed unusual, being "Hot Sour and a bit sweet," a flavor profile the reviewer found "weird." Thirdly, the General Tso's chicken was heavily criticized for containing "hunks of onion broccoli and very old dried out slices of carrot," an untraditional mix compared to other establishments. The flavor was also described as "really off" due to the presence of what tasted like cinnamon or nutmeg. The breading was considered "weird," and the chicken itself was "tough and chewy," leading the reviewer to abandon it after only three bites, labeling it "Gross." Fourthly, the Crab Rangoon was reported to have "hardly any filling," and the filling that was present was also deemed subpar. Fifthly, the rice was described as "greasy and flavorless." Sixthly, the Beef and Broccoli was condemned as "horrible" with a "burnt tasting sauce," and the quality of the "beef" was questioned as "suspicious." Seventhly, the only somewhat positive comment was about the Szechuan Dumplings, which were described as "not too bad," but the reviewer attributed this to the sauce. Finally, the portions were considered "small for a typical combo plate" when compared to other Chinese restaurants. The reviewer concluded that their $35 was wasted, especially since the food they did consume led to a severe negative physical reaction.

In stark contrast to this overwhelmingly negative experience, another review states, "We've been going to Lemay Garden for more than 20 years with great food all the time. Our favorite place for fast and tasty Asian dishes." This long-term patronage and consistent positive feedback suggest that Lemay Garden may have provided a much better experience historically or continues to do so for some customers.

Adding a note of caution against overly negative reactions based on a single visit, a third, very brief comment reads, "Even the finest restaurants have picky reviews and one visit is not a reason for very negative comments. Please keep that in mind." This suggests that individual experiences can vary, and one negative review might not represent the overall quality of the restaurant.

Considering these vastly different recent perspectives, it is difficult to provide a definitive objective introduction to Lemay Garden. The extremely negative review raises serious concerns about food quality, preparation, ingredients, service speed, and portion sizes. The mention of an unusual flavor profile in the General Tso's chicken and the description of the rice and beef and broccoli are particularly troubling. The comment about the misleading online rating further complicates the picture.

On the other hand, the long-time customer's positive feedback indicates a history of satisfactory food and service. This suggests that there might be inconsistencies in the restaurant's quality or that different customers have varying standards and preferences.

Neither review provides specific details about the restaurant's environment or ambiance. The negative review focuses solely on the food and service speed, while the positive review is brief and doesn't mention the atmosphere. Therefore, local users seeking information about the dining environment will need to look for additional reviews or potentially visit the location themselves.

Similarly, there is no mention of any special features or promotional offers at Lemay Garden in the provided customer feedback. Local users interested in learning about potential discounts, lunch specials, or any unique aspects of the restaurant would need to contact them directly.

In conclusion, Lemay Garden in St. Louis presents a highly ambiguous profile based on recent online reviews. One customer reported a severely negative experience with poor food quality across multiple dishes, slow service, and small portions, even suggesting a misleadingly high online rating. In direct opposition, a long-term patron praised the restaurant for consistently great and tasty Asian dishes over two decades. A third comment advises against generalizing based on a single negative review. Potential local users should be aware of these conflicting opinions. The strong negative feedback is a significant red flag that should prompt caution. However, the positive long-term experience suggests that some customers have found Lemay Garden to be a reliable choice. Without more consistent and detailed recent feedback, it is difficult to form a definitive assessment. Prospective diners may want to seek additional reviews or consider trying Lemay Garden with tempered expectations.

I don’t know who they paid to give them good reviews recently but there is no way someone ate there that has any taste whatsoever and liked their food!! Currently a 4.2 rating?!?! Misleading… Very close to my house so I thought I’d give it a try. Mistake!!! If you are looking for good Chinese food, go somewhere else. The only thing I enjoyed was the fortune cookie. 1) Slow-There was one woman by herself 2) My Hot n Sour Soup was Hot Sour and a bit sweet….. which was weird 3) my General Tso had hunks of onion broccoli and very old dried out slices of carrot. I’ve never really had anything but broccoli and chili peppers in this dish at other places but ok. Then It had cinnamon or nutmeg in it… REALLY off in the flavor profile… the breading is weird and the meat was tough and chewy. Gross three bite attempts and over it. 4) Crab Rangoon had hardly any filling and the filling wasn’t great anyway. 5)Rice was greasy and flavorless 6) Beef and Broccoli in a burnt tasting sauce and horrible. The “beef” definitely was suspicious 🤨 7)Szechuan Dumplings weren’t too bad, but it was the sauce that made those doable. 8)portions were small for a typical combo plate (then again I’m comparing to other places) but since it all went into the garbage I guess it’s a less waste of food $35 dollars down the drain And then some because everything I did taste or eat came right back out with vengeance!

This was the worst food I have ever had. My beef order had very little beef and was flavorless. Chicken Fried Rice had zero flavor and pretty much zero chicken. The sauce for thr pot stickers was half water. Never again.

ordered $124 worth of food and food was horrible. Small portions, highly priced, shrimp fried rice only had 5 shrimp and rice was way over cooked. tasted burnt. had to throw most of it away. shrimp even still had the tails on them. egg rolls were tiny and sucked. lo main had no flavor at all. I will never go back there.

I worry about the quality of the chicken when ordering from a new, to me, place. Lemay Garden has good food & it was quick. Also warms up well. I can't rate the atmosphere high cause there is none but I wasn't there for atmosphere, , it's a To Go place and that's good for me! I will happily order from there again.
