About Leisure Cafe

Welcome to Leisure Cafe, a Chinese restaurant located at 1443 E 14th St Unit A, San Leandro, CA 94577, USA. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Leisure Cafe offers a diverse menu of Hong Kong style food, encompassing Chinese fusion, traditional, and non-traditional Asian cuisine, catering to the local community in San Leandro and the wider East Bay area. You can reach them at (510) 614-1838 or +1 510-614-1838.

Based on customer reviews, Leisure Cafe is known for serving "great food" with remarkably "large portions." One reviewer even cautioned that the portion sizes might be so substantial that orders could overwhelm the table space. This emphasis on generous servings suggests that Leisure Cafe aims to provide good value for money, ensuring customers leave feeling satisfied. The menu appears to be quite extensive, featuring a variety of options including fried rice, noodles, porridge, soups, and baked dishes, with choices of rice, pasta, or macaroni to accompany some entrees. This diverse selection indicates a willingness to cater to a broad range of tastes and preferences, blending familiar Chinese dishes with other Asian influences and even some Western elements through the inclusion of pasta and macaroni.

A notable feature of the service at Leisure Cafe is the modern and efficient ordering system. Each table is equipped with a QR code that customers can scan to view the menu and place their orders directly. This self-service approach likely contributes to the reported "very quick orders," streamlining the dining process and potentially reducing wait times. This technological integration suggests a focus on efficiency and customer convenience.

Leisure Cafe is specifically identified as serving "Hong Kong style food," a distinct culinary tradition that blends Cantonese cuisine with Western influences, a result of Hong Kong's history as a British colony. This style often includes dishes like baked rice with various toppings, macaroni soups, and Hong Kong-style milk tea. The mention of "Chinese fusion, traditional and non-traditional Asian cuisine" further supports this characterization, indicating a creative and varied menu that goes beyond standard Cantonese fare.

However, not all customer experiences have been uniformly positive. One reviewer who ordered the beef ribs with rice and egg, and the beef stew rice plate, found the beef ribs and beef tendons to be "chewy and not tender." This critique points to potential inconsistencies in food preparation or ingredient quality for certain dishes. The same reviewer also mentioned a past experience where the beef stew was "pretty good and tender," highlighting that the quality of specific dishes might vary over time.

The limited information available does not provide specific details about the ambiance or decor of Leisure Cafe's dining environment. The focus of the reviews is primarily on the food and service aspects. The efficient QR code ordering system might suggest a more casual and functional setting rather than a formal dining atmosphere, but this is speculative. Similarly, there is no mention of takeout or delivery services, although it is reasonable to assume that a restaurant offering quick service and large portions would likely cater to customers wishing to take food away.

Currently, there is no information regarding any promotional offers or special deals at Leisure Cafe. Restaurants often have daily specials, lunch menus, or other promotions to attract customers, but these are not mentioned in the provided reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts or special menu items should contact Leisure Cafe directly for the most up-to-date information.

To summarize the features of Leisure Cafe based on the available customer feedback:

  • Hong Kong Style Cuisine: Offering a blend of Cantonese and Western-influenced dishes, along with other Asian flavors.
  • Large Portions: Known for generous servings that offer good value.
  • Diverse Menu: Includes fried rice, noodles, porridge, soups, and baked dishes with various accompaniments.
  • Quick QR Code Ordering: Efficient and modern self-service ordering system at each table.
  • Variable Food Quality: While generally praised, some dishes, like the beef ribs and beef stew in one instance, have received criticism for tenderness.
  • Casual Environment (Implied): The focus on quick service and QR code ordering might suggest a more casual setting.

For local users in San Leandro looking for a Chinese restaurant offering a unique Hong Kong style culinary experience with substantial portions, Leisure Cafe presents an interesting option. The convenience of the QR code ordering system and the variety of dishes available could appeal to a wide range of diners. However, potential customers should be aware that the quality of specific dishes might vary, as indicated by one of the reviews. Exploring different menu items and potentially considering recent feedback might be helpful in making a decision. For the most current information on their menu, hours, and any potential promotions, please contact Leisure Cafe directly at (510) 614-1838 or +1 510-614-1838.

In my opinion, great food ,LARGE portions (be careful because your orders might not fit the table). Tasty Chinese fusion, traditional and non traditional Asian cusine. They got fried rice/noodles , Porridge, soups , baked dishes with your choice of rice ,pasta, or macaroni. Each table has a QR code, you pick what you want, then they tally up the orders at the end. Very quick orders too.

Leisure Cafe is a Hong Kong style food. We ordered the beef ribs with rice and egg and the beef stew rice plate. The ribs and the beef ten tendons were chewy and not tender. We've eaten here in the past. When eating out, sometimes past experiences don't match up with recent ones. Last year, the beef stew was pretty good and tender.

Hit or miss. Seafood soup & Baked beef spaghetti šŸ is good. French toast nothing special. Fried squid tails, Mike tea/coffee, lemongrass chicken over rice can skip. Service is bad, I guess that’s the main reason this place has such rating. I ordered coffee+milk tea thru QR menu, there’s no hot or cold option, I put hot in special note, they gave me iced. I said to them I ordered hot, the staff said no, the system showed its iced, there’s no way to be wrong. We showed them the QR menu and asked her to look, there’s no option for hot or cold; but I did write down hot in note. She then took back the drink and didn’t even apologize. She was very rude.

Stopped by for dinner and tried it out for the first time. The atmosphere was good overall. The staff seated us right away and the online order was really simple. The food was good overall. Very well portioned. šŸ‘

Absolutely delicious food and amazing desserts! I consider them the best in San Leandro now. Daisy has been very courteous and patient with all my specific requests. I come every week since I found them. The restaurant has plenty of parking and it is super sanitized. I love it. Great service and ambiance as well.
