About Leeann Chin
Leeann Chin at 14140 State Hwy 13, Savage, MN 55378, operates as part of a well-known counter-serve chain specializing in contemporary Asian cuisine. For orders or inquiries, the restaurant can be reached at (952) 226-4300 or via mobile at +1 952-226-4300. As a Chinese restaurant in the Savage area, it aims to provide convenient and quick meal options through its dine-in, takeout, and delivery services. The chain's model typically focuses on offering a variety of popular Asian dishes with a quick turnaround time, catering to individuals and families seeking a fast and accessible meal.
The environment at Leeann Chin, being a counter-serve establishment, is generally designed for efficiency and quick service rather than an elaborate dining experience. These types of restaurants prioritize functionality, aiming to provide a clean and orderly space for customers to place and receive their orders. While specific details about the Savage location's ambiance are not provided in the given reviews, the expectation for a Leeann Chin typically includes a straightforward setup with minimal decor, focusing on the transaction and the food itself. The convenience of its location along State Highway 13 is likely a significant factor for customers in Savage, allowing for easy access for pickup orders.
The service at Leeann Chin in Savage has unfortunately been a recurring point of concern for some customers. While the goal of a counter-serve restaurant is often efficient service, experiences shared by patrons indicate inconsistencies. One review specifically highlights a "man that seems to be a manager maybe owner" who is described as "very aggressive" and appearing to "hate his job and hates everything else in the world." This suggests a significant issue with customer interaction and overall management presence, which can severely impact the dining experience. Furthermore, issues with order fulfillment and problem resolution have been noted. A customer reported that an online order was not fully honored (white rice replaced with brown rice without notification), and attempts to resolve the issue and receive a refund were unsuccessful despite multiple calls and messages. This indicates a potential lack of responsiveness and accountability from management, leading to customer frustration over unfulfilled orders and unaddressed complaints.
Leeann Chin's menu typically features a range of popular Chinese and Asian-inspired dishes. Common offerings include various chicken entrees like **Orange Chicken**, **Lemon Chicken**, **Sweet & Sour Chicken**, and **Sesame Chicken**. Other staple proteins such as beef and shrimp in various preparations are also usually available, alongside rice (both white and brown), noodles (like Lo Mein), and a selection of appetizers. Appetizers generally include items such as Egg Rolls, Potstickers, and Cream Cheese Puffs, aiming to provide a diverse selection for quick meals. The chain often emphasizes its signature sauces and fresh ingredients in its broader marketing efforts.
However, the quality and consistency of the food at the Savage Leeann Chin location have been a significant concern for some customers. One reviewer described an experience where both their **Orange Chicken** and **Lemon Chicken** meals contained "black flakes" and had a "strong smoke smell," resulting in a taste like smoke that rendered the food "completely inedible" and led to it being discarded. This points to potential issues with cooking equipment, cleanliness, or preparation methods that directly impact food safety and taste. Such experiences are critical as they undermine the fundamental expectation of quality and edible food from a restaurant. These specific incidents raise serious questions about the consistency of food preparation and kitchen hygiene at this particular location, leading to extreme dissatisfaction and a stated refusal to return.
Promotional information for Leeann Chin, in general, often revolves around convenience, speed, and affordability. They frequently offer online ordering options, and customers might find promotional codes or discounts through various platforms, as hinted by one reviewer who used an "Instacart promo." The brand also highlights its customizable meal options and family meal deals to attract a broader customer base. However, for the Savage location, the negative customer experiences regarding both food quality and service issues, particularly the inability to resolve basic order discrepancies and refund requests, could severely counteract any promotional efforts. Word-of-mouth and online reviews play a crucial role in customer perception, and consistent negative feedback on core aspects like food edibility and responsive customer service can significantly deter potential customers, even with attractive pricing or discounts. The lack of proactive communication regarding order changes (like the rice substitution) further compounds the perception of poor service, diminishing the value of online ordering convenience.
In summary, Leeann Chin at 14140 State Hwy 13, Savage, MN, operates as a Chinese counter-serve restaurant aiming for convenience. While the general brand offers a familiar menu of Asian dishes, customer reviews for this specific location reveal significant and recurring issues. Concerns include **aggressive management behavior**, critical **food quality problems** such as inedible meals with smoke taste and foreign particles, and **poor customer service** demonstrated by unresolved refund requests and lack of communication regarding order changes. These issues undermine the core offerings of a Chinese restaurant, indicating that the overall customer experience at this Savage location has been inconsistent and, for some, highly unsatisfactory. Potential customers should consider these reported experiences when choosing to dine or order from this establishment.

Customer Reviews
I’ve tried this location several times, it’s rare that I DONT have issues. There’s a man that seems to be a manager maybe owner, very aggressive, it’s very obvious that he hates his job and hates everything else in the world. Today’s experience I have black flakes in both meals (orange chicken and lemon chicken), they had a strong smoke smell and our first and only bites tasted like smoke. It was completely inedible and went straight to the trash. I’ve given the Savage location so many chances, but this was the last straw.
Placed an online order, they replaced the white rice with brown, as they were out of white rice (an hour before they closed, should have made more,) they didn't call to tell me they were out of rice and see if I still wanted my order. I wanted my money back and asked for it when I went to pick up my order. The worker said the manager could do that and wouldn't be in until Sunday. I tried calling a couple times on Sunday, left a message for the manager to call me back (she was busy one of the times, and on break another,) but she never called me back. I just want my money back for the order I placed that wasn't fullfilled.
I have never been a person to write a review for a company, let alone a bad one, but… Got takeout from this location tonight and my gosh was it awful. Fried rice smelt almost like cigarette smoke, tasted awful. First bite, I got this nasty smoke smell and the taste wasn’t any better. Me and my wife threw $40 worth of food straight in the trash. Not sure if it was way over cooked, cooked in a very old/dirty pan or what. I cant believe it was served as it was. Have been to this location many times and never have had an issue but this was disgusting.
Been coming to the same location for over a year now and have consistently had positive experiences with both Linda and Larry. We have caught them at busy times, even sometimes close to closing time and still find them to be timely while also maintaining a friendly demeanor. Food is always good, place is clean. We look forward to seeing them when we come in and always appreciate how friendly they are!
The food was fresh and delicious 😋. The server (Linda) was top-notch! Thought of everything.
