About Leeann Chin

Located conveniently within the bustling Nicollet Mall City Center at 40 S 7th St, Minneapolis, MN 55402, USA, Leeann Chin stands as a prominent option for those seeking Chinese cuisine in a fast-casual setting. Situated on the second floor amidst a variety of other quick-service eateries, it presents itself as an accessible choice for a rapid and satisfying meal in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. The restaurant's phone number is (612) 355-2222, or you can reach them via mobile at +1 612-355-2222.

As a chain, Leeann Chin has established its presence across Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota, drawing comparisons to other well-known fast-casual Asian establishments like Panda Express. This positioning immediately sets expectations for a dining experience that prioritizes speed and convenience, making it an ideal spot for a quick lunch break, a casual dinner, or a convenient take-out order.

Environment and Ambiance

The environment at Leeann Chin, being part of a larger food court setting within the Nicollet Mall City Center, is inherently designed for efficiency and high foot traffic. While specific details about the interior decor aren't extensively highlighted in general reviews, the nature of its location suggests a bright, open, and functional space typical of modern food court environments. Diners can expect a casual atmosphere, likely with communal seating areas or individual tables suitable for a quick meal. The focus is less on an intimate or elaborate dining experience and more on providing a clean and efficient space to enjoy your food. The presence of other fast-food choices nearby means the area is generally lively and bustling, reflecting the energetic pace of the city center.

Service Experience

Service at Leeann Chin appears to be geared towards speed and efficiency, aligning with its fast-casual model. Meals are typically served quickly in take-out containers, even for those dining in, which underscores the emphasis on convenience. While some customers appreciate the swiftness, feedback occasionally points to an area for improvement in customer interaction. One review noted a somewhat curt service experience, specifically regarding a misunderstanding about "take away" versus "take out" terminology, indicating that the staff might sometimes prioritize rapid processing over elaborate pleasantries. However, this efficient approach is often a hallmark of fast-casual dining, where the primary goal is to get customers their food promptly. The staff's quick handling of orders contributes to a smooth flow, especially during peak hours. For those looking for a no-frills, quick transaction, the service at Leeann Chin generally meets that expectation.

Features and Menu Highlights

Leeann Chin offers a menu that is typical of a quick-service Chinese establishment, providing an alternative to more conventional American fast-food options like salads and burgers. The dishes often feature various proteins combined with a selection of sauces and rice or noodle bases. One customer highlighted ordering the **Thai Coconut Curry Chicken** with brown rice and a side of **garlic soy green beans**. This particular choice suggests a leaning towards options that might be perceived as slightly healthier or more balanced, especially when compared to heavily sauced or fried items. The customer also noted that this entree provided a decent amount of chicken pieces, which is a positive indicator for portioning of the main protein. While some items might appear "too saucy" to certain patrons, this often caters to a preference for flavorful, saucy dishes common in Americanized Chinese cuisine. The consistency and availability of specific menu items, as well as the quick preparation, are key features of the Leeann Chin experience. The ability to customize meals with sides like brown rice or green beans also offers a degree of flexibility for diners looking for specific dietary preferences or a lighter meal.

Promotional Information and Value Proposition

As a chain operating in multiple states, Leeann Chin likely leverages standard fast-casual promotional strategies, though specific current promotions are not detailed in the provided information. However, its value proposition stems from its convenience, speed, and accessibility. For customers in the Nicollet Mall City Center, it offers a quick and relatively affordable option for an Asian-inspired meal. The "quick bite" aspect is a significant draw, especially for individuals on a tight schedule. While one review mentioned that an "extra dish is $6, very expensive," this pricing perspective can vary depending on portion size and individual perceived value. Generally, fast-casual restaurants aim to offer a balance of price and convenience. Leeann Chin's presence as an established chain also implies a certain level of consistency in food quality across its locations, which can be a form of reassurance for repeat customers. The comparison to Panda Express suggests that diners can expect similar pricing and meal deal structures, often involving a main entree and a choice of sides, potentially with options for multiple entrees for a slightly higher price. Any current promotions, loyalty programs, or combo deals would typically be advertised instore or on their official website, enhancing the overall value for regular patrons.

In summary, Leeann Chin at Nicollet Mall City Center serves as a reliable and convenient destination for quick Chinese take-out or a casual dine-in experience. While the service might be efficient and direct, the focus remains on delivering fast, accessible, and generally satisfying Asian-inspired meals, making it a popular choice for those navigating the busy downtown Minneapolis area.

Saw the bad reviews and decided to give it a try but never again! Wanted to give one star but gave two as good was ok, the portions are small an an extra dish is $6 very expensive but the worst of all is the curt service when I was there I distinctly said take away and the lady replied your chicken wings are over there twice!!! I was corrected it should be take out is there a major difference! It’s like they are doing you a favour by serving you !!

Leeann Chin is located in the Nicollet Mall City Center on the 2nd floor amongst other fast food choices. It’s a chain in MN, ND & SD similar to Panda Express. Food is ok and typical for a quick bite plus an alternative to salads and burgers. Service is fast and served in takeout containers. I ordered the Thai Coconut Curry Chicken with brown rice and a side of garlic soy green beans. Other items all looked too saucy and I really wanted something a little more healthy. It was what I expected in a meal. They did give a decent amount of chicken pieces in the entree.

I took some fried rice with orange chicken. It cost me 11.41$. Well, I had a hard time eating it. The chicken was way too sweet. I was so excited to eat there but unfortunately, I think I didn’t take the right food today.

As a visitor to Minneapolis I don't know what the standard for comparison is, but I rate this among the top 10 worst Chinese meals I've ever had. Firecracker shrimp tasted like shrimp flavored deep fried batter in a SWEET, SWEET chili sauce that had nearly zero spiciness. The egg rolls looked like they'd been cooked yesterday.
