About Lee's Garden Chinese Restaurant
Lee's Garden Chinese Restaurant, located at 18330 SE Division St, Gresham, OR 97030, is a well-established Chinese eatery serving the local community. Easily reached by phone at (503) 661-1604 or mobile at +1 503-661-1604, this restaurant offers a traditional Chinese-American dining experience with a strong emphasis on takeout, though dine-in is also an option. Lee's Garden aims to provide comforting and familiar Chinese dishes that appeal to a broad range of tastes.
The environment at Lee's Garden Chinese Restaurant is often described as a quintessential "hole in the wall" establishment, a term often used affectionately to denote a modest, unpretentious place that delivers on food quality. This suggests a casual and laid-back atmosphere where the focus is primarily on the culinary offerings rather than elaborate décor. While not explicitly detailed, such establishments typically feature functional seating arrangements and a straightforward layout. The atmosphere is likely bustling, especially given the popularity of its takeout service, as one reviewer mentioned waiting for an online order while the restaurant got busy. This indicates a steady flow of customers, suggesting a lively but efficient environment. For many, the charm of Lee's Garden lies in its ability to evoke a sense of nostalgia, reminding them of beloved Chinese restaurants from their past. This informal setting makes it suitable for a quick meal, a family dinner, or a convenient takeout option, appealing to those who prioritize authentic taste and generous portions over a refined dining setting.
Service at Lee's Garden Chinese Restaurant generally receives positive remarks for its friendliness and efficiency. Customers often highlight "great service" and commend the staff for being quick and ensuring food is "made to order quickly." This responsiveness is particularly valued, especially for takeout orders, where promptness is a key factor in customer satisfaction. However, there has been an instance where an online order was not ready at the stated pickup time, resulting in a wait, suggesting that online order management might occasionally experience delays. A critical point regarding service, highlighted by a customer with a peanut allergy, involves a lack of clear communication or a discrepancy between menu descriptions/pictures and the actual ingredients of a dish (e.g., peanuts in Mongolian Chicken where not expected). This underscores the importance for customers with allergies to directly communicate their dietary restrictions to the restaurant, ideally verbally, rather than relying solely on online notes or menu descriptions, to ensure accurate order preparation and safety. Despite this, the general sentiment regarding service points to a team that is dedicated to providing quick and accommodating service, aiming to get fresh food to customers in a timely manner.
Lee's Garden Chinese Restaurant's features are predominantly centered on its classic Chinese-American menu, characterized by flavorful dishes and notably generous portion sizes. Many patrons are drawn to the substantial servings, which are often "big enough to feed multiple people," providing excellent value. Among the standout dishes, the Mar Far Chicken and fried rice with gravy are frequently praised, with one reviewer expressing a deep fondness for them, even attributing it to a sense of nostalgia. The menu is extensive, offering a wide array of options across various categories. For instance, combination dinners are a popular choice, including options like Diced Almond Chicken Chow Mein, Fried Shrimp, Pork Egg Foo Young; BBQ Pork, Pork Fried Rice, and Sweet & Sour Chicken; or Crab Puffs, Pork Fried Rice, and Sweet & Sour Pork. The restaurant also offers house specialities and a variety of dishes under poultry, seafood, beef, and pork categories. Specific items like Mongolian Chicken and Szechuan Chicken are available, with some menus noting whether they are "Hot & Spicy." It's important to note the specific peanut allergy concern regarding Mongolian Chicken, as one menu description for "Hot & Spicy Chicken" explicitly mentions "diced vegetables & peanuts in our special hot sauce," indicating that peanuts may be a common ingredient in certain spicy chicken dishes, even if not explicitly stated for all. Other highlights include Crab Puffs, which are available as an appetizer, and various fried rice options, including the popular BBQ Pork Fried Rice. The restaurant prides itself on food made to order, ensuring freshness. The traditional approach to Chinese-American cuisine, coupled with the large portions, makes it a go-to spot for many in the Gresham area seeking comforting and familiar flavors.
In terms of promotional information, Lee's Garden Chinese Restaurant primarily leverages its reputation for generous portions and good value as a key draw. The fact that portions are "always big enough to feed multiple people" inherently acts as a strong incentive for customers, especially for families or groups. While specific promotional campaigns like discount coupons are not detailed, the restaurant's accessible pricing, combined with the large serving sizes, positions it as an economical choice. The availability of online ordering for pickup and delivery through platforms like Beyond Menu, Uber Eats, and Postmates is a significant promotional tool, enhancing convenience and accessibility for customers. These online platforms often feature the full menu, including popular dishes and combination plates, making it easy for patrons to browse and order from home. The restaurant's consistent operating hours, generally from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM every day, provide a reliable schedule for patrons to place orders or dine in. The positive word-of-mouth, often driven by the nostalgic appeal and the satisfaction derived from hearty meals, contributes significantly to its local popularity. For residents in Gresham, OR, seeking a classic Chinese-American meal with ample servings and efficient service, Lee's Garden Chinese Restaurant presents itself as a reliable and familiar option, particularly for those who appreciate the comfort and value of traditional Chinese takeout.

Placed order online for pickup (1st time ordering from here)- noted to be ready by 6pm - I was waiting until 630 for order. Next, I've never had peanuts in mongolian chicken, nor does the pictures or menu description say peanuts are in the dish - I have peanut allergy. Since this was pickup I didnt realize til I got home and unpacked - still awaiting a resolution
Great hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. I enjoy the Mar Far Chicken and fried rice w/ gravy. It reminds me of a place I used to frequent in Texas in my college days so the nostalgia may be the driving force in my review. Great service, food is made to order quickly, and the portion sizes are always big enough to feed multiple people.
Great food and great service. Always a great experience. I marked the items I had as recommended but I could only imagine everything they make is as delicious as what I had. Pork Foo Young is sooooo good! Appetizer plate is a must have every time I go there. Thanks for the great meal and great service! Highly recommend if you love a great Chinese meal!
This food was so bad 😆 fried orange and seasame chicken tasted like old oil. Tomatoes in our chow mein and t didn't have noodles or a good flavor. The fried rice was inedible as it had a plastic type taste to it. For these 4 dishes & an appetizer $70 we would absolutely not recommend. We've been here about 5 times over the past few years because the people are so nice but were gonna see other people 😉
Food was pretty gross. Szechuan beef was pretty much inedible. The beef was so chewy and flavorless. Felt like I was eating a frozen broccoli beef from Trader Joe's. It was also pretty much only mini corn, green peppers, and broccoli. There was maybe 7 small pieces of "beef" in the order. I'll go to Panda Express next time.
