About Lee's Chinese Food

Welcome to Lee's Chinese Food, a Chinese Restaurant located at 2673 E Thompson Blvd in Ventura. For those seeking a taste of the classic Chinese food they enjoyed growing up, Lee's Chinese Food offers a nostalgic culinary experience. This family-owned establishment prides itself on delivering what some might call 'standard fare' Chinese cuisine, a style that is becoming increasingly uncommon and is appreciated by enthusiasts for being done the right way. According to one satisfied customer, the food here is simply "delicious," evoking memories of traditional Chinese flavors.

While the food at Lee's Chinese Food appears to be a significant draw, it's important to note the feedback regarding other aspects of the dining experience. One reviewer commented that "service was atrocious" and described the atmosphere as unchanged since the early 1990s, labeling it a "classic" experience in that regard. This suggests that the ambiance may be dated and the service inconsistent. However, this same reviewer ultimately concluded that "the food is worth it," indicating that the quality of the cuisine outweighs the shortcomings in service and environment for some patrons.

For those who prefer the convenience of delivery, Lee's Chinese Food is available through platforms like Uber Eats. One customer who ordered through this service reported that both the honey walnut shrimp and the Sichuan fish were "good." This suggests that whether you choose to dine in or order out, Lee's Chinese Food offers flavorful options that are well-received.

Value-conscious diners might be interested in the lunch menu at Lee's Chinese Food, which has been described as offering "great value." One customer who opted for the lunch menu enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, noting that it was "tasty." They also ordered a side of 6-piece wings. While they found the sweet and sour chicken enjoyable, they noted that the wings were "salty" for their preference. This indicates that while some dishes may be well-received, others might have inconsistencies or not cater to all individual tastes.

Considering the feedback, Lee's Chinese Food seems to be a place where the focus is primarily on the food, specifically the traditional, family-style Chinese dishes that many have come to love. The positive comments about the overall deliciousness and the specific mentions of dishes like honey walnut shrimp, Sichuan fish, and the tasty sweet and sour chicken suggest that the kitchen delivers on flavor. The lunch menu also appears to offer an affordable way to sample some of their popular items.

However, potential customers should be aware of the reported drawbacks. The service has been described as "atrocious" by one reviewer, and the atmosphere is said to be dated, reminiscent of the early 1990s. While another reviewer who used a delivery service did not comment on these aspects, it's something to keep in mind for those considering dining in. Additionally, the feedback on the wings being too salty indicates that there might be some variability in the preparation of certain dishes.

For Chinese food enthusiasts in Ventura who appreciate classic, 'standard fare' cuisine and are perhaps willing to overlook a less-than-modern ambiance or potentially inconsistent service, Lee's Chinese Food might be a worthwhile visit. The positive remarks about the food's deliciousness and the good value of the lunch menu are strong incentives. If you are ordering through a delivery service, the comments on the honey walnut shrimp and Sichuan fish being good are also encouraging.

The Chinese food you had growing up, is still here. This is a rare treat for Chinese food enthusiasts of what some may call 'standard fare' is now the uncommon bordering on rare variation of family owned Chinese food done the right way. Delicious. Food aside, service was atrocious, and the atmosphere hasn't changed since the early 90s, so, pretty much a "classic" experience. But the food is worth it.

Ordered via Uber Eats, we got the honey walnut shrimp and Sichuan fish, both were good The lunch menu seems like a great value, today we got the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice plus an order of 6pc wings. The former was tasty but wings were salty for me.
