Lao Sze Chuan

We had a great lunch at Lao Sze Chuan in Chicago’s Chinatown! Went with a group, and while the service was a bit delayed, the food was absolutely worth the wait – every dish was packed with flavor, authentic, and delicious. Perfect spot for anyone looking to enjoy tasty Chinese cuisine. Despite the slower service, I’d definitely recommend it for the quality of the food!

This place was very good. Service was great and portion sizes were just right.

For it to be my first time it was great, I sadly didn’t took more pictures of my plates but there were AMAZINGLY GOOD’ and the service was pretty good✅✅✅HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

We ordered wood ear mushroom, schz chili chicken and fish fillet. The mushroom dish was so chewy that we, four people couldn’t finish even one portion. Then the other two items were oily, I wouldn’t say it was bad but okayish. Usually Chinese main courses come with rice on side on other restaurants. So when they asked us if we want it with rice, we said yes. But they charged us extra for steamed rice on bill. They could have clear it while taking order. Another issue is, there was no mention of charging service fee but they did. And also leave blank for tips on bill. So if one doesn’t pay attention, s/he will end up paying tips two times. I mean, I don’t have any issue if any restaurant charges for service fee but there should be a mention on menu or somewhere in the restaurant.

First time trying this place. Have to say i was not disappointed. Service was standard but the food was delicious! We ordered the Tenderloin Steak and Green peppers, House Special Spicy Vegetable Fried Rice, Boiled Sole Fish Fillet in Spicy Szechuan Sauce and a couple egg rolls. Every single thing we ordered was delicious. I was scared to order the boiled sole but oh boy am i glad i tried it! It was so flavorful and spicy. I absolutely loved it! Will definitely be back to try some other things on the menu.
