About Lao Jie

Lao Jie is a Chinese restaurant situated within the bustling food court of Queens Crossing Mall, located at 40-52 Main St, Flushing, NY 11354, USA. As a Chinese restaurant, Lao Jie primarily focuses on offering a selection of Chinese culinary delights, with a particular emphasis on pan-fried buns and other dim sum items, as highlighted by customer reviews. This establishment provides a convenient option for shoppers and local residents looking for a quick and flavorful bite within the mall's diverse food environment.

The environment of Lao Jie is characteristic of a food court setting. Being located inside Queens Crossing Mall, customers can expect to order and pay at the counter and then find seating at one of the public tables available within the food court area. This implies a casual and communal dining experience, where various food vendors operate in close proximity, offering a wide array of culinary choices. While Lao Jie itself may not have a dedicated, enclosed dining space with specific decor, the overall atmosphere is lively and dynamic, reflecting the activity of a busy shopping mall food court. This setup is ideal for those seeking a quick meal while on the go or enjoying the shopping facilities.

The service at Lao Jie is described by reviewers as efficient and straightforward. The process typically involves placing an order at the counter, making payment, and then collecting the food to be enjoyed at the communal seating area. One reviewer noted that the servers are "okay, just order and go," indicating a no-frills, transactional service style that is common in food court environments. The focus appears to be on быстро and efficient order fulfillment, catering to customers who are often looking for a convenient and timely meal rather than an extended sit-down dining experience with extensive table service.

Lao Jie's standout feature, according to customer feedback, is undoubtedly its pan-fried buns. The Pan Fried Crab Meat Bun and the Pan Fried Pork Bun have both received high praise for their taste and quality. One reviewer exclaimed that the Pan Fried Crab Meat Bun was "soo good," describing the buns as soft and the filling as very tasty, even if the crab meat flavor was not distinctly prominent. The Pan Fried Pork Bun also garnered positive remarks, with the reviewer stating, "What can go wrong with pork buns?" and noting their deliciousness and substantial size ("Huge buns too!"). Another repeat customer specifically raved about the pork and scallion meat buns, highlighting their perfect juiciness and flavorful filling that was not dry, a common issue in similar dishes at other establishments.

Beyond the acclaimed pan-fried buns, one reviewer mentioned having tried the USese sausage and other items, all of which were described as "amazing" and consistently served hot. This is a significant point of praise, especially when compared to other places in Flushing that might serve similar food at less desirable temperatures. The reviewer also expressed an intention to try Lao Jie's siomai and soups on future visits, indicating a broader menu offering beyond just the buns. This suggests that Lao Jie likely offers a variety of other Chinese and possibly USese snacks and dishes typical of a casual eatery.

In terms of pricing, one reviewer gave a rating of 7 out of 10, considering it "quite expensive," possibly attributing this to the restaurant's location within a mall. They noted that six pan-fried buns cost $8. While this might be perceived as slightly higher than prices at some standalone establishments, the convenience of the mall location and the positive feedback on the quality of the buns seem to justify the cost for many customers, as evidenced by the reviewer's intention to return. The price point suggests a mid-range cost for the type of food offered within a mall setting.

Overall, Lao Jie appears to be a popular spot within the Queens Crossing Mall food court, particularly known for its delicious pan-fried buns. The positive reviews emphasize the quality and taste of these buns, especially the crab meat and pork varieties, with the pork and scallion buns receiving exceptional praise for their flavor and texture. The consistently hot serving temperature of other items, such as the USese sausage, also stands out as a positive attribute. While the service is functional and typical of a food court, the quality of the food seems to be the primary draw for customers. The pricing might be slightly higher due to the mall location, but the taste and quality appear to justify it for many.

For local users in Flushing seeking authentic and delicious pan-fried buns and other quick Chinese bites, Lao Jie offers a compelling option within the convenience of Queens Crossing Mall. If you're craving flavorful and well-prepared street-style snacks like pan-fried buns, and you don't mind the casual food court environment, Lao Jie is definitely worth a visit. The positive feedback on the taste and quality of their signature items suggests a satisfying culinary experience. While specific promotional information is not available in the provided reviews, the consistent praise for their food indicates that the quality itself is a strong reason to patronize this Chinese restaurant. If you find yourself in Queens Crossing Mall, be sure to stop by Lao Jie to try their highly recommended pan-fried buns and explore other items on their menu like siomai and soups.

Good Pan Fried Buns! If you are craving for dim-sum, this is the place to go! Location: It is located inside Queens Crossing Mall. It is a food court, so you have to order, pay and seat in a public table. Lot of food stalls here! Service: the servers are okay, just order and go! Food: my first time here. I ordered PAN FRIED CRAB MEAT BUN: omg it was soo good! The buns are soft and the meat inside is very tasty, I didn’t taste crab meat but anyway it is soo good! PAN FRIED PORK BUN: same! It was delicious as well! What can go wrong with pork buns? Huge buns too! Price rating: 7/10, quite expensive, maybe because they are inside a mall. It is 6 pan friend buns for $8. Definitely will come back here cause it was delicious! I will try next their siomai and soups!

I came here a couple times now and had the Taiwanese sausage and some other items. Everything tastes amazing and is always served hot unlike some other places in Flushing that serve similar style food like meat buns or beef pancakes or dumplings. I really loves the pork and scallion meat buns here. It had the perfect amount of juiciness, not dry at all and full of flavor!! I highly recommend this place and I’ll definitely visit again!!

Pretty nice little shop that sells hot ready to go food. They have some good options for breakfast. Price is pretty reasonable. Lots of pedestrians in front though.

The beef was the tastiest! The others were decent (forgot what we got). However the workers would rush us to order and try to convince us to buy more. They’re hustlers (understandable). The store is very small.

I normally dislike noodles but I like Lao Jie Food's noodles. The soup base has a different taste from other noodle places I tried in Flushing. They also have different dumplings (they have rabbit meat dumplings if thats your thing) and snack food but I haven't tried those yet.
