Customer reviews of L&L Hawaiian Barbecue in Chesapeake are overwhelmingly negative, citing numerous issues with the food and service. One reviewer found the loco moco to be excessively salty and noted an imbalance with too much rice. Another described the galbi ribs and steak in the BBQ mix as incredibly tough and chewy, despite the chicken in the same meal being acceptable. They also mentioned an excessive amount of rice.

The mac salad was also a disappointment for one customer, with an off texture that overwhelmed the flavor, failing to meet expectations. While the katsu chicken and spam musubi were deemed "okay" as a snack or side dish, the drinks were considered overpriced and disliked by one couple.

Several service-related issues were reported. One customer who placed an online order 30 minutes in advance still had to wait an additional 30 minutes upon arrival and received cold food with skimpy servings and a missing entree. To make matters worse, this customer claimed that their entire family, including their dog, became sick after eating the food, resulting in a significant financial loss and a lack of response from the restaurant after multiple attempts to contact them. This reviewer strongly advised against visiting the establishment and called for intervention by the health inspector.

I was really disappointed with the loco moco I had here. It was way too salty—almost inedible, honestly. The seasoning completely overpowered the dish, making it hard to enjoy. On top of that, there was way too much rice! It felt like I was eating a mountain of rice with a small amount of the actual loco moco. As for the BBQ mix, I was really let down by the galbi ribs and steak here. Both were incredibly tough and hard to chew, which made the whole meal unpleasant. The meat was chewy to the point where it felt like a chore just to get through it. For the price, I expected much better quality. Again, there is too much rice. Definitely won’t be ordering these again. The chicken from this meal was good, though. I was really disappointed with the mac salad. The texture was off, and it completely drowned out the flavors. I was expecting a creamy, well-balanced side, but this was a letdown like the one I had in Hawaii. However, the katsu chicken and spam musubi here are okay. It’s the perfect snack or side dish, and I could honestly eat them all day. The drinks were overpriced, and you could get it for cheap with a good serving size elsewhere. My husband and I did not like it, though. The staff was polite and friendly.

I would NOT recommend visiting this place. I placed an online order 30 minutes in advance and still had to wait an additional 30 minutes to receive my order, which was cold upon arrival. The servings were skimped, and they left out an entire entree of mine. To make matters worse, my entire family, including my dog, got sick after consuming the food. It felt like $70 went straight into the trash. I've called twice now and was promised a callback, but it's been 6 days, and I still haven't received any response. This place is utterly disappointing and an insult to the culture it represents. The city health inspector needs to shut this place down. Avoid it at all costs

The food was extremely fresh and delicious! The chicken katsu was crispy and flavorful, with just the right amount of breading. My spam musubi always a banger! Love this place. ❤️👍👍🫰

Good little place. Katsu was a bit more like tempura, but very nice. Veggies a little overcooked. Would eat here again if I was close. Mac salad seems to be made in house, nice bonus. Wife liked the spam musubi.

We were greeted with Aloha coming in for lunch. The employees were friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable for the quality. Very fullfilling plates. The food was made to order. The food was fresh, fast, juicy, and tasty. We were the only ones eating inside for lunch on a Friday, while there was a lot of takeout. The food was very reminiscent of my trips to Hawaii. Their Hawaiian decor is fun. Tho the tables are sticky. Maybe it's the wood varnish degrading? Also, half the soda fountain was out of order. I would come back.
