About Kung Fu Kitchen
Welcome to Kung Fu Kitchen, a Chinese Restaurant located at 1562 Palos Verdes Mall, Walnut Creek, CA 94597. As a valued member of the local Chinese Restaurant category, Kung Fu Kitchen is known for its extensive menu and high-quality food, primarily catering to customers seeking takeout and delivery options. While the restaurant itself is described as a small place with limited seating, the focus is clearly on providing generous servings of excellent Chinese cuisine to enjoy at your convenience.
According to customer reviews, Kung Fu Kitchen stands out for the sheer variety offered on its menu. Patrons can expect a vast selection of Chinese dishes, promising something to satisfy a wide range of culinary preferences. Despite its compact size, Kung Fu Kitchen does not compromise on the quantity of food, with reviewers noting "big servings." This makes it a potentially appealing option for those looking for substantial portions and good value for their money.
However, the limited seating capacity is a significant factor to consider for those wishing to dine on-site. One reviewer explicitly stated that it is "not recommended for dine ins because of only 4 tables." This clearly indicates that Kung Fu Kitchen primarily operates as a takeout and delivery establishment. Local users in Walnut Creek should be aware of this limited dine-in availability when making their dining plans.
Despite the functional, rather than spacious, environment for dine-in, the quality of the food is a consistent point of praise. The same reviewer who mentioned the limited seating also described the food as "excellent." This suggests that while the ambiance might be basic, the culinary offerings are the main draw of Kung Fu Kitchen. The restaurant's name, "Funky comedic name but not the dishes," implies that while the branding might have a playful element, the food itself is serious and of high quality.
Specific dishes mentioned in the reviews provide further insight into the menu's strengths and potential inconsistencies. One customer expressed surprise when their Salt and Pepper Squid tasted like Curry. They noted that while they liked the texture, the unexpected flavor profile was not what they were anticipating. This feedback suggests that some dishes might have unique or non-traditional flavorings that could surprise first-time customers. It also highlights the importance of clear menu descriptions to avoid such unexpected tastes.
Another customer commented on the Hong Kong Noodles, suggesting that they "could use more sauce." This indicates a potential area for improvement in this particular dish, where the sauce-to-noodle ratio might not be optimal for all palates. It's a specific piece of feedback that future customers who enjoy saucier noodle dishes might want to keep in mind or even request when ordering.
On a more positive note, the Orange Chicken at Kung Fu Kitchen received high accolades. One reviewer enthusiastically described it as "Very Good Orange Chicken!!!" and specifically praised the "Great Meat and Batter!!!" This strong endorsement suggests that the Orange Chicken is a standout dish and a popular choice among Kung Fu Kitchen's clientele. It highlights the restaurant's ability to execute this classic Chinese-American dish exceptionally well.
The operating hours of Kung Fu Kitchen are also provided: 11:30 am to 3:00 pm for lunch and 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm for dinner. This information is crucial for local users planning to order takeout or delivery during these specified times. The split hours are a common practice for many Chinese restaurants, allowing for preparation between lunch and dinner service.
Considering the available information, Kung Fu Kitchen in Walnut Creek is a Chinese restaurant that prioritizes a vast menu and excellent food quality, primarily for takeout and delivery. While the dine-in option is limited due to the small size of the establishment, the generous servings and the positive feedback on dishes like the Orange Chicken make it a compelling choice for enjoying Chinese cuisine at home. However, potential customers should be aware of the possibility of unexpected flavor profiles in some dishes, as noted in the review of the Salt and Pepper Squid, and the potential need for more sauce in certain noodle dishes. Overall, for those in Walnut Creek looking for a reliable takeout or delivery option with a wide array of choices and praised food quality, Kung Fu Kitchen is worth considering.
For local users in Walnut Creek seeking a Chinese restaurant with an extensive menu and a reputation for excellent food, particularly for takeout and delivery, Kung Fu Kitchen is a strong contender. The generous portions and the highly recommended Orange Chicken are significant draws. While the dine-in experience is limited, the focus on culinary quality for off-site enjoyment is evident. Small place but big servings. Not recommended for dine ins because of only 4 tables. Menu is vast and food is excellent. Funky comedic name but not the dishes. Hours is 11:30am-3pm & 4:30pm-8pm
I was just wondering why did my Salt and Pepper Squid taste like Curry. I like the texture but I was not expecting that taste. Hong Kong Noodles could use more sauce. Very Good Orange Chicken!!! Great Meat and Batter!!!
Surprisingly decent Chinese food, especially for being in Walnut Creek. The lunch portion was huge. The food seemed pretty high quality - was not oily and didn’t feel heavy in my stomach. I am sensitive to MSG and there was definite none used in prepping my food. They only have like 4 tables, so it may be more of a takeout joint.
Quick delicious General spicy Chicken. Wonderful texture & super hot fresh food. Simple small business in Palos Verde strip mall. I will be back! Food was ready in 10 minutes or so! Not greasy. Quality chicken and for $17.52 I got a huge portion of chicken and a small rice. Lunch specials are $12.95-13.95 Monday-Friday. Thanks Kung Fu Kitchen!
I tried the chicken noodle soup, and it was delicious. The food was fresh, and the service was excellent. Would definitely recommend!"
