Kumi Sushi

Great food, quiet atmosphere and amazing service. I read some of the negative reviews and just haven’t experienced anything remotely close to what they were saying anytime I have eaten at Kumi.

It was quite dark and they had several flashing signs inside, not a good combo. We enjoyed everything we got except the spicy tuna. Its not really tuna its like 90% chili powder 5% crunchy flakes and 5% tuna. It was so pasty and dry i couldn't eat it. The staff were friendly and food came out quick. The sushi pieces were perfect and thier yellowtail was on point.

We've been on a tempura kick lately, lol!! First thing I noticed when they sat us in a booth.. they had a cushion for each person..I personally like this! Service was excellent..very friendly and attentive.. our drinks were always refreshed.. they answered any questions. Now.. let's talk about why we really came here..FOOD!! We like a light, crispy tempura.. we're not big sushi people, but we can tear up some tempura!! This tempura was good..however.. it was a thicker tempura..not a classic light..more like a batter dipped. It was still very good. The vegetables were. Onion, broccoli, sweet potato, zucchini.. they had the same batter.. again.. very good. We enjoyed the salad.. I personally don't care for meso soup.. so hubby had 2, lol.. he said.. it was ok. We had the chicken egg rolls.. They were good.. so was the vegetable fried rice..you could taste the seseam oil..that we both like. After we were done with our meal.. they brought out a small dish.. 2 pieces of fried banana with whipped cream and chocolate syrup.Never having this before.. we thought.. we'll try it! Oh my gosh y'all..it was sooo good. Overall, I really liked the food and service.. I heard a few bad things.. but we didn't experience that.. I have to say..go, try it!!

We ate here last night. The service was great. The area we were seated in looked rather dated and worn dowb with the red paint chipping from the walls. We ordered. Eel: Was a bit fishy in a bad way. Yellowtail: was pleasant order a second. Lion king roll: cost $22 and tasted of one note, creamy avacado. Couldn't taste anything else. Dragonroll: Once again creamy avacado and bad fishy eel tasted nothing else. App was crab ragoon: was rather good. A few hours later we both ended up having terriable gas that made it hard to sleep. I think the Eel had spoiled. Also the sushi kept falling appart. The rice acted as if there was nothing holding it together. Ended up with more rice in the soy sauce dipping dish then in me. Won't be returning. We will just take the extra few minutes to drive out to Minami Sushi in Streamwood instead.

I've been to this place 2 or 3 times. I cannot remember exactly what order of sushi I placed the first time but it was extremely delicious. The most recent time I came with my wife to have a much needed date. I ordered fried rice and with steak and shrimp hibachi style. Everything tasted well. My only gripe would be that I feel they don't give you as much as other places do. It is presented well and it tastes just as great as other places. It did not disappoint. As for the rolls my wife and I ordered. It was good. And I mean real good. They are a bit pricey but worth it when you take each bite. I do see myself going back in the future but not sure when that will be. As mentioned they are a bit pricey but the food is extremely good and won't disappoint. The service was well and drinks were often refilled when needed.
