About Kowloon Chinese restaurant
Kowloon Chinese Restaurant is located at 2255 Cloverdale Ave NW in Winston-Salem, North Carolina (27103, USA). As a member of the "Chinese Restaurant" category, Kowloon has been serving the local community for a significant period, with one reviewer mentioning patronage since the year 2000. However, recent customer feedback indicates potential issues in several areas, including order accuracy, food quality, and the restaurant's environment.
As a Chinese Restaurant, Kowloon likely offers a standard menu of Chinese-American cuisine, featuring dishes such as chicken with vegetables, pork dishes, chicken fried rice, egg rolls, hot & sour soup, sweet & sour chicken, and sesame chicken. The expectation for such an establishment is to provide flavorful and well-prepared versions of these popular dishes. However, recent reviews suggest inconsistencies and a decline in the quality of some of these offerings at Kowloon.
Regarding the environment of Kowloon Chinese Restaurant, one reviewer noted that "The restaurant is in need of an update." This suggests that the physical appearance and ambiance of the restaurant may be outdated or not well-maintained. The same reviewer also mentioned "Lots of supplies just sitting around near the cashier," which could contribute to a cluttered and unorganized impression of the dining area or waiting space. These observations indicate that the environment may not be a strong point for Kowloon at present.
The services at Kowloon appear to primarily focus on takeout, as indicated by one customer's experience with a mixed-up takeout order. While phone ordering is available, as evidenced by the customer's call to rectify the order issue at (336) 724-6768 or +1 336-724-6768, there is no specific mention of dine-in service quality beyond the environmental observations. Another service aspect highlighted negatively was the stinginess with condiment packets, with only two packets each of soy sauce, duck sauce, and mustard sauce provided for a substantial amount of food, and only one additional packet of each given upon request. This suggests a potentially cost-conscious approach that may detract from customer satisfaction.
Several features of Kowloon Chinese Restaurant have been mentioned in recent reviews, primarily highlighting areas of concern. One significant issue is order accuracy, with one customer receiving a mixed-up order containing pork instead of the expected all chicken dishes. This error led to dissatisfaction and the customer's decision to cease patronage after many years. This incident raises concerns about the restaurant's attention to detail in fulfilling orders, especially for takeout customers who may not discover errors until they are home.
Food quality has also been a major point of criticism in the recent feedback. The chicken fried rice was described as barely containing any chicken, which is a significant deficiency for a dish where chicken is a key ingredient. The egg rolls were reported to have "no filling," indicating a lack of substance and poor value. The hot & sour soup was said to lack flavor, failing to meet the basic expectations for this popular soup. Additionally, the crispy noodles served with the soup were stale, further detracting from the dining experience. While the sweet & sour chicken and sesame chicken were described as "ok," this lukewarm assessment suggests that even these dishes were not particularly impressive.
Another feature, or rather a negative aspect, mentioned by a reviewer was the stinginess with condiment packets. Receiving an insufficient amount of soy sauce, duck sauce, and mustard sauce for a large order, and then being given only one extra packet of each upon request, indicates a lack of generosity that can negatively impact the customer's enjoyment of their meal. This policy may leave customers feeling that they are not being adequately provided for.
Currently, there is no information available regarding any promotional offers or special deals at Kowloon Chinese Restaurant in the provided reviews. The focus of the feedback has been on the issues with order accuracy, food quality, and the restaurant's environment. To inquire about any potential promotions, discounts, or changes to their menu or services, local users are advised to contact the restaurant directly using the provided phone numbers: (336) 724-6768 or +1 336-724-6768.
In conclusion, recent customer reviews for Kowloon Chinese Restaurant in Winston-Salem, NC, raise significant concerns regarding order accuracy, food quality (particularly the chicken fried rice, egg rolls, and hot & sour soup), the outdated restaurant environment, and stinginess with condiments. While the restaurant has a history of serving the community for many years, recent experiences suggest a decline in standards. Potential customers should carefully consider this feedback before choosing to dine at or order takeout from Kowloon. Those interested in the most current information about their menu, services, or any potential promotions should contact the restaurant directly.

This is Friday April 11th My husband and I went to get takeout for dinner. They had a mix up with our food and someone else. We got home and half of it was wrong so I called them to tell them we got two orders both were chicken with vegetables one of the orders was pork. The man on phone was nice about it I told him we couldn't come back today as we live in Lexington. Then lady in background said she cooked it and it was chicken. I am 62 yrs old I know what chicken looks like and it wasn't chicken. We have been going there since 2000 NEVER AGAIN I have seen alot of faces there over the years but something has changed for sure...
The restaurant is in need of an update. Lots of supplies just sitting around near the cashier. Food was mediocre. Chicken fried rice barely had chicken. The egg rolls had no filling. The hot &sour soup lacked flavor and the crispy noodle were stale. Our sweet & chicken and the Sesame chicken was ok. They are very stengy with packets of soy sauce, duck and mustard sauce. Gave us 2 packets of each for all the food we got and when I asked for more, she haded me 1 pack of each.
For the last 10 years husband and I have gotten our Chinese from here and it’s been what we’ve expected. Have owners changed in that timeframe, yes. But it’s still better than most places. No we don’t come here for customer experience, we come here for the food at the right price. People complaining about the food or the tables not being clean do not know what this place is about. You want a 5 star table service, go to a place that charges you $50 for two plus tip? This is primarily a takeout restaurant, and a lunch special place with decent pricing. We get our large chicken and broccoli almost every Friday with an order of dumplings (sometimes a shrimp roll) and they are always fresh and always just right. We drive 15 mins to get these when we have two other Chinese restaurants that are only 3-5 mins away. Everyone with a negative review needs to check themselves and their entitlement. Leave this place alone and go pay for the service your want somewhere you pay 40%+ more if you don’t like it.
I called at 8:45pm. And they close at 9pm. They had no problem getting me fresh food incredibly fast, as along as I could get there before 9pm. Everything tasted wonderful (2 pork eggs rolls, 1 pt of Hot & Sour Soup, House Chop Suey, House Mei Fun, and Shrimp Lo Mein). I am so pleased with their customers service. I will definitely be back.
This is a good place to go if you are craving Chinese food. I’ve had good experiences here. The chicken is my favorite. I tried the sweet honey wings, they were really tasteful and the rice was good. The prices are not too bad
