Kitchen 95 is a Chinese restaurant situated at 2336 Woodson Rd in Overland, Missouri. Operating within the platform category of Chinese Restaurants, Kitchen 95 offers a range of Chinese cuisine to the local community in Overland and the surrounding areas. Located at 2336 Woodson Rd, Overland, MO 63114, they can be contacted at (314) 801-8895 or +1 314-801-8895 for inquiries or to place orders. Based on recent customer feedback, Kitchen 95 appears to be a spot where the food quality is highly regarded, though some aspects of the dining experience have received mixed reviews.

According to one customer's detailed review, the food at Kitchen 95 received a perfect 5-star rating. This suggests that the culinary offerings are a significant strength of this establishment. The dining area is described as small with open seating, which might indicate a more casual and intimate setting. However, a notable and unusual aspect of the environment mentioned was the necessity for customers to walk outside to the back of the building to wash their hands before eating. This was highlighted as a significant drawback, especially given cold weather conditions. This is a unique characteristic of the restaurant's setup that potential diners should be aware of.

In terms of service, the same reviewer gave the "everything else" category a 2.5-star rating, indicating that while the food was excellent, other aspects of the experience were less impressive. This was further illustrated by the fact that customers were provided with paper plates and plastic cups, even before the food arrived. The food itself was served in to-go containers, which the reviewer found to be convenient. This suggests a somewhat informal approach to dine-in service, prioritizing practicality over traditional plating.

The menu at Kitchen 95 features a variety of Chinese dishes, with some specific items receiving high praise. The General Tso’s Chicken was rated 5 stars, described as flavorful, fresh chicken pieces served with steamed white rice and fresh broccoli florets, with the customer even requesting and receiving more broccoli. Another standout dish was the Chicken and Chili Sauce, rated 4 stars. This dish was described as tender, crispy chicken pieces on a bed of slaw drizzled with a "really good and spicy chili sauce," noted as something unique and enjoyable.

Further insights into Kitchen 95 reveal its history. The restaurant was initially known as Chef Ma's kitchen before being acquired by a new owner three years prior to the review, at which point it was renamed Kitchen 95. It has a background as a family-run business, with parents cooking in the kitchen and two children assisting in the front. The menu was described as typical Chinese with the addition of a few USese dishes, suggesting a blend of familiar and slightly less common offerings. The decor was noted as simple, and the place was clean, indicating a focus on functionality and hygiene.

Additional menu items mentioned in the context of the restaurant's history include the 3 cup chicken and szechuan beef with leek, both described as flavorful and delicious. In contrast, the wanton noodle soup was noted as lukewarm and average. The service during this previous experience was described as slow, with a recommendation to order in advance for those in a hurry. Despite the slow service, the staff was characterized as friendly, and the prices were considered reasonable.

Considering the various aspects, Kitchen 95 appears to be a restaurant where the quality of the food is a major draw, with dishes like the General Tso’s Chicken and the Chicken and Chili Sauce receiving high marks. The history of the restaurant as a family-run establishment with a blend of typical Chinese and some USese dishes adds to its unique character. However, potential customers should be aware of the unconventional setup regarding handwashing facilities and the informal presentation of dine-in meals on paper plates and in to-go containers. The service has been described as friendly but potentially slow at times, suggesting it might not be the best option for those with time constraints or seeking a more traditional dining ambiance.

The consensus from the reviews suggests that Kitchen 95 is "a great place for good Chinese food," even if it might not be the top choice for a formal date night due to the less conventional dining experience. For local users in Overland looking for flavorful Chinese cuisine, particularly dishes like the General Tso’s Chicken and the unique Chicken and Chili Sauce, Kitchen 95 is worth considering. The reasonable prices also add to its appeal as a local spot for satisfying Chinese food. However, it is advisable to be prepared for a potentially less traditional dine-in experience and the need to walk outside to wash hands.

In conclusion, Kitchen 95 at 2336 Woodson Rd in Overland, MO, stands out for its highly-rated food, including specific dishes like the General Tso’s Chicken and Chicken and Chili Sauce. Its history as Chef Ma's kitchen and a family-run business adds a layer of local charm. While the dining environment has some unique aspects, such as the outdoor handwashing and informal plating, the quality of the food seems to be the primary focus and strength of this Chinese restaurant. Local residents looking for tasty Chinese cuisine at reasonable prices should consider giving Kitchen 95 a try, keeping in mind the less conventional dining experience.

FOOD:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ EVERYTHING ELSE:⭐⭐1/2 Hear me out! First time here and on a first date. I hadn't gone thru the reviews but wanted to try a new spot. Open seating. Small dining area but it's fine. What sucked was WALKING OUTSIDE TO THE BACK OF THE BUILDING TO WASH MY HANDS before eating. That was bananas. It was 11 degrees out mind you. We were brought out paper plates and plastic cups prior to the good coming out...refer to pic. The food was brought out in to-go containers which turned out to be pretty convenient. General Tso’s Chicken: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Flavorful, fresh chicken pieces served with steamed white rice and a couple of FRESH broccoli florets. We asked for more. Chicken and Chili Sauce ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tender crispy Chicken pieces on top of a bed of slaw drizzled with a really good and spicy chili sauce. 🤌🏾 I've never had anything like this before.

The restaurant was initially operated under Chef Ma's kitchen before this new owner bought it 3 years ago. It was changed to Kitchen 95. The restaurant was a family run business. The parents cooked the food in the kitchen and 2 children were helping out front. The food was typical Chinese with few Taiwanese dishes. The decor was simple and the place was clean. The 3 cup chicken and szechuan beef with leek were flavorful and delicious. The wanton noodle soup was luke warm and average at best. The service was slow. If you are in a hurry, it might be better to order advance so you don't have to wait for a long time. The price was reasonable and the staff were friendly. This is probably not the best place to take your date out, but this is a great place for good Chinese food.

Husband got take-out. Food absolutely delicious! Beef, chicken and pork all cooked perfectly. Fresh and delicious! Husband says people are super friendly. I’ve lived in STL for almost 20 years and this is the best Chinese food I’ve had here. Thank you!

Simply hidden gem if you like Asian food! With parking around the building, there are only about 10 tables inside. Mom and daughter managing it all. But the food!!! Flavorful, fresh, delicious! Beef shank was exactly how I imagined it with plenty of beef, side of rice and ginger to the taste.
