Lovely family owned Japanese restaurant with high-end traditional food with a fusion twist. Dare to experience an “omakase” dinner and abandon yourself to the chef’s choice of food. And by the way, the chef’s name is John Kitaro and yes, he is the owner! Unfortunately I only did that with an appetiser and I got an amazing sashimi mix topped with tobiko! See pictures of what I tried for three days in a row, only the Tenjaku whisky missing.
I recently stumbled upon this lovely gem of a restaurant, and I must say, it was a marvelous experience from start to finish. The interior decor is both pleasant and beautiful, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately sets the tone for a great meal. The service was top-notch, our server Caleb made sure we were well taken care of throughout our visit. We started with a selection of appetizers including the asparagus tempura, the tuna tartar, and the lobster tempura. All the appetizers were beautifully plated and favorable. For our entrées, we chose the Crabby Joe and Lemon Salmon Rolls, both of which were plated beautifully and tasted as good as they looked. The Korean-styled Chirashi and Sashimi Fifteen were equally impressive, featuring incredibly fresh fish that was delicious. We’ll definitely be coming back for more!
Once again, today, i chose Kitaro. I am not particularly fond of sushi, so I dont even explore that part of their menu. I do enjoy their more traditional surf n turf options. I started with the pork dunplings.. which were excellent when dipped in the soy sauce into which I had squeezed the orange. Yum! Next, the clear soup. Wow. The broth had great flavor for a "clear" soup....and then the abundance of rice noodles... reminded me of Pho in that way ! The, the star of the show...the salmon. Nice thick filet...well cooked inside, with a nice sear on the outside Delicious ! The salmon sat atop a bed of awesome looking vegetables. ..... they were very pretty... and zi am sure the dogs will love em! Lol... ...besides, i had to leave room for the crem brulee. Yum ! ..cool presentation with the custard with carmelized sugar in its own dish, and then the hand whipped cream and carmel drizzle on the larger plate. Ok... better get back across the border.... Thank you, Lindsey, for the great service ! Cya again next time !
One of our favorite restaurants on this side of town. They have a great variety of items from which to choose. Lately, our favorites have been the Kitaro Tempura (appetizer), the Korean Short Rib, the Chilean Sea Bass and The Double Pork Chop (entres). The sushi/sashimi is very good and always aesthetically pleasing. So far we've enjoyed everything that we have tried and are never disappointed. The staff is very friendly and always aim to please.
The miso soup was good. We had dirty utensils. I ordered the spicy tuna and spicy salmon maki rolls. The fish in the rolls was minced. The spicy tuna tasted like it was mixed in with bottled salsa. I could not eat it. Good atmosphere.
