About King's Chef Buffet
King's Chef Buffet is a Chinese restaurant located at 501 N Maguire St J in Warrensburg, Missouri, serving the local community and notably popular among students and residents around the University of Central Missouri. They can be contacted at (660) 747-0880 or +1 660-747-0880 for inquiries. As a "Chinese Restaurant" offering a buffet service, King's Chef Buffet aims to provide a wide variety of dishes in an all-you-can-eat format.
According to customer feedback, King's Chef Buffet has gained significant popularity in the Warrensburg area, particularly for lunch, breakfast, and dinner. A key factor contributing to this popularity is the reported price of $15 with no tax on the food. This pricing structure appears to be a major draw for many, especially those mindful of their budget. One reviewer specifically highlighted the "very good food" served at this price point, suggesting a positive perception of the culinary offerings.
However, one recurring concern mentioned by a customer relates to the initial sensory experience upon entering the restaurant. This reviewer noted a "bad smell" attributed to the sushi being offered. They went so far as to suggest the implementation of an Aroma 360 machine to improve the ambiance. This feedback indicates a potential issue with the restaurant's overall aroma that some customers may find off-putting.
Once inside, the process reportedly involves being asked the number of people in the party and drink preferences before being allocated a table to enjoy the buffet. This suggests a standard buffet service model where customers serve themselves from the available selection of dishes after being seated and ordering drinks.
In terms of specific feedback for the restaurant, one reviewer explicitly recommended improvements in "more cleanliness" and the "Aroma." These points suggest that while the food itself may be well-received, there are potential areas concerning the hygiene and overall atmosphere of the establishment that could be enhanced to improve the dining experience for patrons.
Another customer shared a more detailed and somewhat mixed experience. They noted that "the food is fantastic" but recounted an issue regarding pricing and a to-go box. This group of three spent $54, equating to $18 per person. The situation arose when one member of the party did not eat the food they had taken on their plate. Upon attempting to leave with the uneaten food in a to-go box, the waitress reportedly wanted to weigh the box and charge extra. The customer expressed frustration with this, especially since they offered to forgo one of the buffet charges or for the staff to review security camera footage to confirm that the third person did not eat. While the waitress eventually allowed them to take the food they had paid for, the initial interaction left a negative impression. This experience highlights a potential discrepancy between the perceived price and the actual cost in certain situations, particularly involving uneaten food and to-go containers. The reviewer advised those with ample funds to consider the restaurant but cautioned those "short on cash" against trusting online prices.
Considering these reviews, King's Chef Buffet presents itself as an affordable buffet option near the University of Central Missouri, popular for its $15 (plus no tax on food, according to one review) price point and reportedly "very good food." However, potential customers should be aware of a reported issue with the restaurant's smell upon entering, possibly related to the sushi offerings, and a suggestion for improved cleanliness. Additionally, there is a reported incident concerning extra charges for uneaten food taken in a to-go box, indicating a need for clarity regarding their policies on such matters and the pricing information available online.
While one reviewer found the food "fantastic," the experience with the to-go box and the initial price concern suggest that the overall value proposition might be perceived differently depending on individual circumstances and dining habits. The popularity among the university community indicates that the price and variety offered by the buffet are likely attractive to students and budget-conscious diners. However, the feedback regarding smell and cleanliness are points that the restaurant may need to address to ensure a more consistently positive experience for all customers.
In conclusion, King's Chef Buffet in Warrensburg, MO, is known for its buffet service, particularly popular due to its location near the University of Central Missouri and a reported price of $15 with no tax on food. Customers have noted the good quality of the food. However, potential drawbacks include a reported unpleasant smell upon entering and potential issues with pricing transparency, especially concerning uneaten food taken to go. While the restaurant appears to be a budget-friendly option with tasty food for many, it is advisable for prospective diners to be aware of these reported experiences to form a well-rounded expectation before visiting.

The food is fantastic but I spent $54 on me and 2 other friends. It is $18 per person... one of use didn't even eat. He had gotten a plate but didn't eat it. We asked for a to go box because he didn't eat anything on his plate. Everything was pretty good at first. Whenever we went to leave our waitress grabbed his box. They wanted to weigh the to go box and charge me more!! π I offered to pay for the to go box if they took the third buffet charge off. I even offered for them to check the cameras to show he didn't eat. She was super sweet after and allowed him to take the food we paid for. If you have a lot of money then definitely recommend it. If you are short on cash DO NOT trust the prices on Google. ππ
I've never had a problem with the food here. The food here is great. The only problem I have is with the service we get. Because I feel like the people that wait on us. Are there always a little snappy. Like one time, we got regular Coke instead of a Diet Coke, and that person was diabetic. And I don't know they weren't nicest that they had to go back and change it.
Was very delicious good food got their last minute. They still let us in told us to get all the food we wanted and that they would wait for us so I call it. Excellent service gave the lady $100 tip. They did not have to do that for us as well as it was clean and good environment.
Excellent place in warrensburge to get some Chinese. Our grandkids like ot too. My wife likes it. They do good on many dishes I like their Calimari it's always just right as are their green beans and spring rolls I have ate here much and recommend it. It's buffet but they do a really good job
