About King Do Restaurant

King Do Restaurant, situated at 1154-1156 Dorchester Ave in Dorchester, is presented by a customer as a very authentic Vietnamese restaurant. For those seeking genuine Vietnamese flavors, particularly dishes like bún riêu and bún bò huế, this establishment has been recognized for its ability to capture the true taste of Vietnam. One reviewer, having recently returned from a trip to Vietnam, noted that the flavor of these specific dishes was identical to what they experienced there.

The restaurant offers good portion sizes for its authentic Vietnamese dishes and provides a small amount of mắm tôm (fermented shrimp paste) on the side, catering to those who enjoy this traditional condiment. While the variety and amount of greens served on the side were mentioned as being slightly less, this was acceptable to the reviewer.

A key piece of information for potential customers is the availability of two menus. The English menu primarily features common Vietnamese items such as pho and banh mi. However, customers looking for a broader selection of less well-known authentic Vietnamese dishes should look for the full Vietnamese menu available inside the restaurant.

It is important to consider a recent review that expressed disappointment with the current food quality compared to the past, mentioning that while the new location looks good, the food seems to be declining. This reviewer also noted a small amount of noodles for the price of a noodle bowl. This suggests that while King Do Restaurant may offer authentic Vietnamese flavors, there might be some inconsistencies in food quality and portion sizes according to recent experiences.

If you are a local in Dorchester looking to explore authentic Vietnamese cuisine and are interested in trying dishes like bún riêu and bún bò huế, King Do Restaurant offers this. However, it is advisable to be aware of the recent feedback regarding potential changes in food quality and portion sizes.

Food doesn't taste good like back then, the new location looks good but the food is going down. Not sure if they change the chef or not. $15 for a bowl of noodles but only a little noodles inside. Hope they improve or else i will have to find a new place .

Very authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Having just returned from a 5 week trip through Vietnam, the flavor of this bún riêu and bun Bo hue was identical. Good portion size with a small amount of mắm tôm on the side. The amount and variety of greens on the side is a bit less, but that’s fine for me. Be aware though that the English menu only has common items like pho and banh mi. If you turn around they have the full Vietnamese menu with less known dishes, which I ordered from.

I like Banh mi from King DO. As well as any other food selections. I am not a picky on taste and their food always taste food even I ordered the wrong one. Plus there is no waiting line like Ba Le down the street. I don't like to wait in line.. so if you are looking to drop in and out less than 4 or less minutes. Come to this place.

I think King Do Restaurant has the most expansive menu of all the Vietnamese places that I have been to. Certain foods like bánh mì are made to order, but there are also pre-made foods and desserts on display for purchase and a restaurant menu. I ordered the Bánh Mì Bò Nướng (Grilled BBQ Beef), which was a great deal for $7. Note that there is a $10 credit card minimum, so bring cash. The bánh mì was cold, so I toasted it when I got home, and it tasted delicious and was filling.

Had the chao long and the bun Bo hue. It tasted very homemade and was enjoyable. Waitress was so sweet. What a great store for banh mi and to sit down and eat too. Very fair prices and you only see Vietnamese people here so it’s legit!
