About King Chef

King Chef is a Chinese restaurant situated at 298 Sam Ridley Pkwy E #160 in Smyrna, Tennessee. They can be contacted at (615) 223-0006 or +1 615-223-0006. This establishment offers a range of Chinese cuisine options for local customers seeking both dine-in and takeaway services.

According to one enthusiastic customer, the food at King Chef is surprisingly good, with the impression that dishes are made to order, ensuring freshness, excellent taste, and hot serving temperatures. The General Tso combo with soup received high praise, and the reviewer suggests that those who enjoy standard Chinese food will likely be very satisfied with the quality offered at King Chef.

However, another customer shared a more mixed experience. While the Chicken Chow Mein was noted as very good, the hot and sour soup was described as thin and watery with few solid ingredients. The sweet and sour chicken was particularly disappointing, with the batter appearing to have a "freezer burn" look, separating from the chicken and resembling crispy fried chicken rather than the expected sweet and sour dish. This customer also mentioned an upgrade to lo mein fried rice for an additional charge, which tasted acceptable but had a slight burnt smell upon opening.

Overall, reviews suggest that King Chef has some standout dishes that are considered fresh and well-prepared. However, there are also inconsistencies in the quality of certain items, indicating that customer experiences may vary. If you are in the Smyrna area and looking for Chinese food, King Chef might offer some enjoyable options, but it's worth noting the varied feedback on different dishes.

Was very surprised at how good the food was at King Chef. I'm pretty sure everything is made to order, and not just sitting in a pan in the back. My food tasted very fresh, very good, very hot, and plenty of it. General Tso combo with soup is really good. If you love standard Chinese food, be prepared to be very happy with King Chef because it was much better!

So I tried this place because of the reviews and I have mixed feelings about this place that is making me reconsider if I want to go there again. I ordered the Chicken Chow Mein, - This was very good, enjoyed it. I also ordered the hot and sour soup. I have definitely had better. The soup was very thin and watery. I could only spot a few mushroom and a couple of pieces of tofu. The rest was all soup and again it was very thinned out. The next thing we ordered was the sweet and sour chicken. This was truly disappointing. The outside texture of the chicken wasn't golden brown as I am used to. It had an appearance that makes me feel that it was frozen and fried (looked like freezer burn) or it is batched cooked and kept warm. The outside had a "white like" freezer burn appearance. When you bite into it, the batter had separated from the chicken. It resembled crisy fried chicken versus and sweet and sour chicken. There was a gap between the batter and the chicken. So I would definitely not recommend it if this is the what it normally looks like. We did pay to upgrade the fried rice to the lo mein (it was $2.00, but that's pretty good). It tasted ok, but there was a smell when you opened up the box of burnt food. Overall, its not the worst, but I definitely have had in my opinion what I can call fresher and better prepared food.

As someone mentioned, the dining room isn't much, but don't judge a book by its cover. I live nearby and always do takeout anyway. The food is very good and CONSISTENT. It seems that no matter how big or small your order, you get "10 minute" (and they're always right). Also, I've not had a crappy attitude there. Sometimes, when they are very busy, it’s more “to the point” and all business, but not crappy. The only reason that I'm not eating from there tonight? I waited too close to closing time and didn't want to be that “last minute jerk.” PS. Their Crab Rangoon is the sweeter version. I love them, but the GF doesn’t and prefers the more traditional CR. Also, I prefer their chicken and pork options over the beef. But, I’m like that with most all Chinese food.

Been coming here for years. It’s always the same great food and great service. I’ve never had a bad meal here.

I spent 56.00$ on wings and French fries. Nothing was fresh, chicken looked old, fries were burned looked old! I would never order from here ever again. Nothing was fresh at all. No sauce , no ketchup , no eating utensils. Absolutely horrible!
