When choosing a Chinese restaurant, local users often consider the quality of the food, the variety of the menu, the service provided, and the overall dining experience. Based on recent customer feedback available online, King Chef presents a somewhat polarized picture, with some positive aspects highlighted alongside significant criticisms. One reviewer noted that the fried rice contained "good pieces of chicken" and that the General Tso's chicken was "good and spicy." This suggests that some of King Chef's dishes may be flavorful and contain quality ingredients. This reviewer also offered a specific recommendation regarding beverages, suggesting that the soda might be a better choice than the sweet tea based on their taste preference.

However, other reviewers expressed considerable dissatisfaction. One customer described the fried rice as "disgusting," specifically noting the absence of onion and egg, which are common ingredients in many fried rice preparations. This suggests a potential deviation from standard recipes or a perceived lack of quality in the ingredients used. The same reviewer also found the egg rolls to be "gross" and believed they were definitely from frozen, citing a tough texture that was difficult to bite through. This raises concerns about the freshness and preparation methods of some of King Chef's appetizers.

Another reviewer expressed regret for not heeding the restaurant's 3.8-star rating, stating that it was a "mistake" to think it would be okay and advising others not to "waste your time or money," concluding with a strong negative sentiment ("gross 🤮🤮🤮"). This review suggests a significant level of dissatisfaction with their overall experience at King Chef, potentially encompassing food quality, service, or other factors.

Considering these recent reviews, it's evident that experiences at King Chef can vary significantly. While one customer found some dishes to be good, others reported issues with the quality and preparation of key items like fried rice and egg rolls, leading to a highly negative overall impression. Potential customers in Goldsboro should take these contrasting opinions into account when making their dining decisions.

As a Chinese restaurant, King Chef likely offers services such as dine-in, allowing customers to eat at the premises, and takeout, for those who prefer to enjoy their meals elsewhere. Delivery services might also be available, either directly or through third-party platforms, although this is not explicitly mentioned in the provided feedback. The environment of the restaurant, such as its ambiance, cleanliness, and decor, can influence the dining experience. However, the provided reviews do not offer any specific details about the restaurant's physical environment, focusing primarily on the food quality and taste.

Features that might typically attract customers to a Chinese restaurant include a diverse menu, special house dishes, or unique cooking styles. The positive mention of spicy General Tso's chicken could be considered a feature for those who enjoy heat in their food. However, the negative comments about the fried rice and egg rolls suggest that consistency and quality across all menu items might be an issue. Without a menu or more detailed descriptions of their offerings, it is difficult to ascertain any unique features of King Chef.

Promotional information is not included in the provided customer reviews. Chinese restaurants often offer lunch specials, family meal deals, or discounts on certain days. Local users interested in any potential promotions at King Chef would need to check for any signage at the restaurant, inquire when calling, or look for online presence (website or social media) where such information might be shared. Given the mixed feedback on food quality, it might be prudent for potential customers to prioritize assessing the current standards of their dishes over any potential promotions.

For local users in Goldsboro seeking a Chinese restaurant, King Chef presents a situation where recent customer experiences have been quite varied, with significant negative feedback regarding the quality and preparation of some staple dishes. While some items like the General Tso's chicken have been praised, the issues raised about the fried rice and egg rolls, along with a strongly negative overall review, should give potential diners pause. It might be wise to consider these recent experiences carefully before deciding to dine at or order from King Chef. Perhaps trying a small order of a specific dish that has received positive feedback might be a way to assess the current quality for oneself.

In conclusion, King Chef, located on N Spence Ave in Goldsboro, NC, is a Chinese restaurant that has received mixed reviews from recent customers. While some dishes, like the General Tso's chicken, have been described as good, significant concerns have been raised about the quality and preparation of other items, such as the fried rice and egg rolls, with one reviewer strongly advising against patronizing the establishment. Local users should consider this feedback when making their dining choices and might want to proceed with caution.

The fried rice had good pieces of chicken. The General Tso's chicken was good and spicy. I would recommend paying the extra 50 cents for the soda instead of the sweet tea because I didn't like the taste.

Not sure what kind of Fried rice this is but it’s disgusting no onion no egg. The egg rolls were also gross and from frozen for sure cause I took a bite and could barely break through. I made a mistake thinking it was going to be ok and really should’ve trusted the 3.8 star review. Don’t waste your time or money… gross 🤮🤮🤮

Went during lunch and ordered the lunch combination. The fried rice has tasty pieces of chicken in it. The general tso chicken was nice and spicy. I would recommend paying the extra 50 cents for the can drink over the sweet tea as I didn't like the taste.

I'm not normally the type to leave bad reviews for places but with as much as I spent on dinner from this place ($120) I had to. This will be our first and only time ordering from here. Food didn't taste fresh and was Lukewarm. fried rice was disgusting tasted old. honey chicken was soggy, the only thing that was any good was the mei fun my husband ordered. Everything else was off.

I used the Storefront through DoorDash option while ordering through Google, and the estimate time of readiness was pretty accurate (45 minutes). They had my food ready to go with all the utensils and extra sauce for our food. Staff was friendly and nice. My only gripe are the prices, but given the state of the economy and people's need to also keep their bills paid and afford life, I understand why it is the way it is. The prices reflect restaurants that you'd be gaining a sitting/dining in experience but for takeout. However, while I personally believe that the food portions were enough, I still don't feel entirely right about the prices. Aside from that, the food was fantastic. I ordered the beef broccoli with the beef lo mein, and with a side of crab rangoons. The beef was flavorful and tender, and the noodles firm and savory from the soy sauce. The crab rangoons had just the right amount of crunch to compliment the rich cream cheese filling. My husband also ordered the seafood appetizer, and the fried crab meat was probably my favorite out of the bunch. Overall, it satisfied my craving for Chinese takeout and despite my minor complaints about pricing, I'll be going back! (Sorry there were no photos attached; we were a ravenous bunch and wasted no time with getting it into our stomachs.)
