About Kin's Wok

Kin's Wok is a Chinese restaurant located at 4908 B, W Mercury Blvd in Hampton, Virginia, serving the local community with a variety of Chinese cuisine options. As a member of the Chinese Restaurant category, Kin's Wok primarily operates as a takeout establishment, catering to customers looking for convenient and readily available meals. Based on recent online reviews, experiences at Kin's Wok appear to be somewhat varied, with positive feedback regarding the freshness and quality of certain dishes contrasted by concerns about pricing and customer service in specific instances.

One first-time customer shared a positive experience with their order, which included broccoli with brown sauce and a side of chicken wings. They specifically highlighted that everything was "cooked fresh," a significant aspect for many diners seeking quality in their takeout. The broccoli was described as "perfect, not over cooked or over seasoned," indicating a well-prepared vegetable dish. The chicken wings also received praise for being "delicious and fried hard just how I like," suggesting that Kin's Wok caters to specific preferences in cooking style. This positive initial experience led the customer to state that they would "definitely order from hear again and definitely recommend" Kin's Wok.

However, this same reviewer noted a reservation regarding the pricing, stating that their order totaled $22, which led them to rate their experience four stars instead of five. They commented, "I guess there’s an inflation everywhere," acknowledging the broader economic context but still indicating that the price point was a consideration in their overall satisfaction. This suggests that while the food quality was appreciated, the cost might be perceived as slightly higher than expected for the quantity or type of items ordered.

In contrast to this positive yet price-conscious review, another customer reported a significantly negative experience centered around a specific menu item and the subsequent customer service interaction. This reviewer ordered hot and sour soup for $8 but was "very disappointed" to receive "a container of the brown garlic sauce with tofu," which they correctly identified as "definitely not hot and sour soup." This indicates a significant error in order fulfillment and a lack of attention to detail in preparing the ordered item.

The negative experience was compounded by the customer's interaction with the manager when they called to address the issue. They described the manager as "very nasty," which suggests a severe lack of professionalism and a failure to resolve the customer's complaint in a satisfactory manner. Consequently, this customer stated that they would "never go back to them again," highlighting the significant impact of poor customer service on future patronage.

Considering these two recent reviews, Kin's Wok appears to have the potential to provide freshly cooked and well-prepared dishes, as evidenced by the positive feedback on the broccoli with brown sauce and the chicken wings. This suggests a focus on cooking to order and achieving desired textures and flavors. However, there are potential downsides to consider. One is the pricing, which at least one customer found to be a point of concern. The other, more serious issue is the significant error in fulfilling a soup order and the subsequent reported negative interaction with the manager. This raises concerns about order accuracy and the handling of customer complaints.

For local users in Hampton, Virginia, Kin's Wok presents a mixed profile. If you prioritize freshly cooked Chinese takeout and are looking for specific preparations like crispy fried wings or perfectly cooked broccoli with brown sauce, Kin's Wok might be worth considering. However, it is advisable to be mindful of potential pricing, which some customers have noted. Furthermore, the reported incident involving the incorrect soup order and the negative interaction with the manager serves as a cautionary tale regarding order accuracy and customer service. It might be prudent to double-check your order upon pickup and to be prepared for potentially inconsistent service if issues arise.

As there is no information available regarding the restaurant's ambiance (as it seems to be primarily a takeout establishment), any promotional offers, or the full extent of their menu, local users are encouraged to contact Kin's Wok directly at (757) 825-8181 or +1 757-825-8181 for more detailed information. Inquiring about their menu, pricing, and any current specials might help in making a more informed decision. While the positive review highlights the potential for quality in some of their freshly cooked items, the negative review underscores the importance of order accuracy and customer service. Local diners may want to proceed with cautious optimism when considering Kin's Wok for their Chinese takeout needs in Hampton.

First time ordering here. I ordered broccoli with brown sauce and side of wings. Everything was cooked fresh and the broccoli was perfect, not over cooked or over seasoned. Chicken wings were on delicious and fried hard just how I like. Will definitely order from hear again and definitely recommend. I only have this review a 4 star because of pricing my orders totaled to $22. I guess there’s an inflation everywhere.

Spent $8 for hot and sour soup. Was very disappointed when I received it to see it was a container of the brown garlic sauce with tofu. This is definitely not hot and sour soup. I called and spoke with manager and she was very nasty. Will never go back to them again.

I ordered my food through DoorDash pick up. When I received my food my egg foo young was sitting in a pool of oil. Like they put it straight from the oil to the container 🤢🤢 I called to report the problem I didn’t want my money back I just wanted my food made correctly. She told me call DoorDash and request a refund. Very unprofessional. Will never return

They don't talk much, but the food is hot and fresh. No matter what you order. Don't forget your drink. They will not remind you.
