Kari House

Excellent Malaysian food can be found at Kari House in Sugar Hill / Buford. The restaurant is in an unassuming shopping plaza and parking is a little tricky as most available spots are time restricted from a few minutes to 1 hour, but don't let that distract you from coming to excellent Kari House. My friend is more familiar with Malaysian food and said their food was legit and tasted very high quality and authentic. Me not being that familiar with Malaysian food asked for recommendations from the cashier who made excellent suggestions and I was happy with our entire meal. The main dish was large enough to take some home. Prices were a bit high but the quality and authenticity of this restaurant made the meal worth it. High marks and a thank you to Kari House for a delicious meal. 5 stars and a we will be back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Kari House is a hidden gem that’s definitely worth a visit! We tried a few dishes and loved each one. We started with the Roti, a fried bread served with curry dipping sauce. My American partner found it spicy, though for those familiar with Asian spices, it’s just right! The Ipoh Ho Fun—a chicken noodle soup—had an incredibly flavorful broth and tender shredded chicken. Although it came with quite a lot of noodles, it was still a fantastic choice. The Chef’s Special Fish, a fried catfish filet in a sweet and spicy sauce, was perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. Finally, we ordered the Hainanese Chicken. It took a bit longer to arrive (about 30 minutes), but it was well worth the wait—the chicken was incredibly juicy! The atmosphere is cozy, with a relaxed, take-out vibe. You can order at the counter or sit down for table service, which we opted for. There’s also a self-serve water station, adding a nice casual touch. Service was great; it’s a mom-and-pop spot that really deserves local support. With entrees around $15 each, the pricing is very fair for the quality. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend Kari House—5/5 stars!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kari House, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience! This hidden gem in our area serves authentic Malaysian cuisine that truly transports you to Southeast Asia. Food Quality We ordered the Hainan Chicken Rice, roti, and stir-fry noodles with chicken and each dish was a delightful representation of Malaysian flavors. The Hainan Chicken Rice was particularly impressive, featuring tender chicken served with fragrant rice and a side of flavorful dipping sauces. The roti was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, making it a great accompaniment to our meal. The stir-fry noodles were deliciously seasoned, with fresh vegetables that added a nice crunch. What really stood out to me was the value for money. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality and authenticity of the food. It’s refreshing to find a restaurant that offers such delicious dishes without breaking the bank. I’m so glad we have Kari House around us! I can’t wait to return and try more of their menu items. Stumbled upon this hidden gem while we were in the Sugar Hill area. Just have to say, the food taste amazing, all our dishes we ordered were pretty flavorful. If you like to spice thing up, don't forget to ask for their in-house hot sauce. But unlike their slogan, don't "get kari away" with it. It was soooo hot 🔥. Straight fire though, for those spicy food eaters, it's a must!!! Highly recommend. Will definitely visit again when I'm in the area.
