About Kapolei Chinese Restaurant
Welcome to Kapolei Chinese Restaurant, located at 525 Farrington Hwy #101 in Kapolei, Hawaii. As a local establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, Kapolei Chinese Restaurant aims to serve the community with a range of Chinese-inspired dishes. Recent customer feedback provides insights into the current state of the restaurant under new ownership and a new chef, offering a mixed perspective for potential local users.
Based on the available reviews, the environment of Kapolei Chinese Restaurant appears to be a standard dining space. One reviewer who visited when the restaurant was not busy mentioned being greeted and seated right away, suggesting a potentially calm and accessible atmosphere during off-peak hours. However, there is no detailed description of the restaurant's ambiance or decor provided in the feedback. It's advisable for those interested in the dine-in experience to consider the possibility of a casual and functional setting.
In terms of services, Kapolei Chinese Restaurant offers both dine-in and takeout options, as indicated by the customer reviews. One reviewer dined in and received prompt service, while another ordered specific dishes, implying the availability of a standard menu for both on-site and off-site consumption. The quick service noted by one customer, with food arriving in under five minutes, suggests efficiency in their order preparation. To inquire about delivery services or to place a takeout order, local users can contact the restaurant directly at (808) 674-8888 or +1 808-674-8888.
Customer experiences with the food at Kapolei Chinese Restaurant have been varied and somewhat polarized following the change in ownership and chef. One reviewer expressed significant dissatisfaction with their recent meal. They ordered the shrimp canton, noting a thick batter and small shrimp (size 41/50). Concerns were raised about the shrimp being fully cooked, echoing past negative experiences at other establishments. The same reviewer ordered the seafood crispy noodle and reported finding a worm on their chopsticks, which the manager attributed to the vegetables, suggesting a potential issue with food handling or preparation. Their lunch plate was also described as "awful," with the reviewer's husband barely eating any of it, and they concluded that the food lacked authentic Chinese flavor and they would not return.
In contrast, another reviewer who went in with low expectations based on mixed reviews had a more positive experience. They were seated quickly, and received hot tea and water promptly. Their food also arrived very fast. However, they found the Yang Chow style fried rice to be plain and tasteless, and the Kungpao chicken was described as the least authentic they had ever had, even comparing it unfavorably to Panda Express due to the minimal use of red peppers. On a more positive note, this reviewer found the beef broccoli and salt/pepper short ribs to be "on point" and "very delicious," stating they would return specifically for the ribs. They also praised the workers for being friendly and attentive, with constant water refills.
These contrasting reviews highlight a potential inconsistency in the quality and authenticity of the dishes offered at Kapolei Chinese Restaurant under the new management. While some items, like the salt/pepper short ribs, are well-received, others, such as the shrimp canton, seafood crispy noodle, and Kungpao chicken, have garnered negative feedback regarding preparation, ingredients, and flavor. The Yang Chow fried rice was also noted as being bland.
The mention of a potential issue with vegetables leading to the presence of a worm in one dish is a significant concern regarding food safety and hygiene practices at the restaurant. This is a serious issue that potential customers should be aware of.
Despite the food quality concerns raised by some, the second reviewer did commend the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff, noting that water cups were constantly refilled. This suggests that the service aspect of the dining experience might be a relative strength of Kapolei Chinese Restaurant.
Given the divided opinions and the serious nature of some of the negative feedback, local users considering Kapolei Chinese Restaurant should weigh these recent experiences. The restaurant appears to be in a transitional phase under new ownership, with some dishes meeting expectations while others fall significantly short. The positive comments about the beef broccoli and salt/pepper short ribs might appeal to some, but the issues raised about other dishes and food safety are important factors to consider.
As there is no mention of any specific promotional information in the provided reviews, local users are encouraged to contact the restaurant directly at (808) 674-8888 or +1 808-674-8888 to inquire about any current specials or promotions that might be available.
In conclusion, Kapolei Chinese Restaurant in Kapolei, HI, is currently operating under new ownership and a new chef, which has resulted in mixed customer reviews. While some diners have experienced friendly and attentive service and enjoyed specific dishes like the beef broccoli and salt/pepper short ribs, others have reported significant issues with food quality, preparation, and even food safety. Potential local users should consider these recent experiences when deciding whether to dine at or order from Kapolei Chinese Restaurant and may want to inquire about current food standards and practices before placing an order.

Customer Reviews
It used to be good but this is under new owner and new chef. Hubby and I thought we would come here since we haven’t been here in a while. We got the shrimp canton the batter was pretty thick. They made it look big but the shrimp is small. It’s a size 41/50. I always made sure my shrimps are cooked since we had bad experience at other places and the shrimp was raw inside. I got the seafood crispy noodle and I put half on my plate and luckily I did not eat it yet. I noticed there was a worm stuck on my chopsticks. I looked carefully and asked hubby to check and said it was a worm for sure. I called the manager and immediately when I showed him the worm he knew and said it was from the veggies. I guess he had the same issues before. Hubby got the lunch plate and it was awful. He only ate not even 1/5 of the food. We ended up wasting the food and not take any home. It does not have any Chinese flavor at all. We will not come here again.
I read mix reviews about this place and went there expecting the worst. The restaurant was not at all busy when I went. I was greeted and seated right away. Hot tea and water served within seconds. The food came really fast too. Probably less than 5 minutes of wait time. The Yang Chow style fried rice was kind of plain and tasteless. Kungpao chicken was by far the least authentic kungpao chicken i ever had. Worse than Panda Express. The chicken tasted okay, it's just not Kungpao. There's like one red pepper in there, literally one! Other than that, beef broccoli and salt/pepper short ribs were on point. I'd come back just for those ribs. Very delicious! The workers were friendly and very attentive. Water cups were constantly filled. Definitely will come back!
It was okay. Sweet and sour pork and duck breast were both good. Chow mein was gross, slimey noodles with no taste. Dont seem to understand the concept of appetizers, won tons came after all the other food was delivered and the spring rolls didn't come until we were already finished with our meal. Spring rolls were good but won tons had very little filling which was hard and dry.
FAMILY STYLE!!!! We didn’t know it was family styled until we got the food!! The rice was mid, but everything else wasn’t bad!!
Real Chinese cuisine, I like their spicy dishes. Been doing the dinner for 3, three of us hardly put a dent in that much food
