Customer reviews present a stark contrast in experiences at Jumbo China Buffet. One long-time customer, who has been ordering from this establishment since its previous location on Falls of Neuse, considers it their "FAVORITE Chinese restaurant." This reviewer praises the food as being the "best" and always well-seasoned. They also commend the owners as being "very nice." A significant development mentioned is the addition of a buffet, which the reviewer finds to maintain the same high quality and freshness as their takeout orders. This customer and a friend reportedly visit the buffet weekly for lunch, with the friend driving from Clayton specifically because of its quality. A notable highlight for this reviewer is the affordable lunch price of $11.99, though they are unsure if this is an introductory price. The buffet also features fresh sushi, although the variety is limited due to customer preference for other dishes. Additionally, a hibachi option is available. This reviewer gives Jumbo China Buffet a perfect 10 out of 10 recommendation.
However, another customer who visited Jumbo China Buffet for the first time with their family had a significantly negative experience, resulting in "mixed reviews" initially turning into strong disapproval. A major communication barrier was encountered as the waitress reportedly spoke no English. The food quality was inconsistent, with some items being good while others were cold and flavorless. A particularly alarming incident involved the customer's daughter finding a live roach in the ice cream. Upon informing the manager, the response was that pest control had visited earlier in the week. Furthermore, the reviewer's other daughter and son-in-law became severely ill overnight, experiencing gastrointestinal distress. This customer deemed the total cost of $130 for this experience "ridiculous" and vowed never to return.
These contrasting reviews paint a complex picture of Jumbo China Buffet. While one customer expresses strong loyalty and satisfaction with the food quality, service (from the owners' perspective), and the addition of the buffet with its diverse offerings at an attractive price, another customer reports serious issues including communication problems, inconsistent food quality (including cold and flavorless dishes), a severe hygiene concern (live roach in the ice cream), and subsequent illness. These are critical points for potential customers to consider.
As a Chinese buffet, Jumbo China Buffet offers a wide array of dishes, typically including numerous Chinese culinary staples. These often consist of various rice and noodle preparations, stir-fried dishes featuring a selection of meats, seafood, and vegetables, a variety of sauces and gravies, soups, and appetizers like spring rolls and egg rolls. The positive review mentions "the best food" that is "always seasoned well," suggesting a focus on flavor. The addition of fresh sushi, although with limited variety, indicates an attempt to cater to a broader range of tastes. The presence of a hibachi station suggests that customers can enjoy freshly cooked items prepared in front of them, adding an interactive element to the dining experience.
The services offered by Jumbo China Buffet primarily revolve around the all-you-can-eat buffet experience. This allows customers to sample a wide variety of dishes at a fixed price. The positive review mentions both ordering from the restaurant previously (suggesting takeout was an option at one point, though not explicitly stated as current) and the new buffet. The negative review implies a dine-in buffet experience. The mention of a waitress, despite the buffet format, suggests that there is some level of table service, possibly for drinks or initial seating. The direct delivery praised by one reviewer in the context of another restaurant is not mentioned here for Jumbo China Buffet. The significant communication barrier reported by one customer due to a staff member not speaking English is a notable service concern.
The environment of Jumbo China Buffet is not extensively described. However, the fact that it operates as a buffet suggests a large dining area designed to accommodate numerous food stations and seating for many customers. The positive reviewer implies a pleasant environment, especially with the addition of the buffet. In contrast, the negative review does not comment on the physical environment other than the alarming discovery in the ice cream, which points to potential hygiene issues. The manager's response regarding pest control being present earlier in the week, while intended to reassure, might not be sufficient for customers concerned about such incidents.
Features of Jumbo China Buffet include the all-you-can-eat format, offering a wide selection of Chinese dishes, fresh (though limited variety) sushi, and a hibachi station for freshly cooked meals. The very affordable lunch price of $11.99, as mentioned by one reviewer, is a significant feature that could attract budget-conscious diners, although its long-term availability is uncertain. The positive reviewer also highlights the friendly owners. However, the serious hygiene issue reported by another customer, along with concerns about food temperature and flavor, are significant negative features that potential customers must consider.
There is no specific promotional information beyond the mentioned lunch price of $11.99. Buffets sometimes offer different pricing for lunch, dinner, and weekends, as well as discounts for children or seniors. To learn about any other promotions or special offers at Jumbo China Buffet, it would be best to contact the restaurant directly.
In conclusion, Jumbo China Buffet in Raleigh, NC, offers a diverse all-you-can-eat experience with Chinese cuisine, sushi, and hibachi at an attractive lunch price. While one long-time customer highly recommends it for its food quality, friendly owners, and buffet offerings, another customer reported severe issues including communication barriers, inconsistent food quality, a live roach in the ice cream, and subsequent illness. These widely contrasting experiences suggest that potential customers should weigh the positive feedback against the serious concerns raised in order to make an informed decision about dining at Jumbo China Buffet.

Customer Reviews
I have been ordering from Jumbo China since they were on Falls of Neuse. They are my FAVORITE Chinese restaurant. Everyone is take here loves it. They have the best food, and it's always seasoned well. Please, the owners are very nice. And now they have a buffet! The food is still just as good and fresh as it is if you order out. Me and my friend have been there once a week for lunch. She drives from Clayton to this place because it's so good. And the best part is it's only $11.99 for lunch. I dont know if that's because the buffet is new, but it is $11.99. And they have fresh sushi, they dont have a big variety because people really only eat the other food rather than the sushi but it is made fresh. And they have hibachi! 10 out of 10 would recommend.
Me and the family went there for the first time and had mixed reviews. First the waitress spoke no English, so communication was an issue. Some foods were good, some was cold, flavorless. Well my daughter went to get ice cream and lo and behold a roach was in the ice cream, alive. I immediately went to the manager and her reply was pest control was here Tuesday. My other daughter and son in law was sick on the toilet all night. $130 for this is ridiculous. Never again
The staff is great staff. Friendly staff when you walk in. I have a seafood allergy. And the staff let me look at the buffet before I dined in The lady was so nice nice. You took time to show me what to stay away from. I definitely will be going back. You get lot of food for the price. And the staff treats you like family
Hands down the best Chinese food I've ever had! The meal was incredibly amazing, the staff was very polite, the food was available in less than 10 minutes after I placed my order, and the restaurant was spotless! The chicken was mouthwatering, and the rice with peas, carrots, and onions were delicious! I will surely return to this place for more food.
I ordered food from this place yesterday to my job at triangle mall. Later on that day I felt very sick in the middle of night just straight throwing up. I had ordered the white rice sesame chicken and broccoli. Mind you I haven’t ate much that day either, but I was having lots of stomach pain and started throwing up the food from earlier. Safe to say I will not be ordering any Chinese food from this place again. watch what you order and the things you eat, stay safe!.
