About Jumbo Buffet
Welcome to Jumbo Buffet, a Chinese restaurant situated at 2731 S Hurstbourne Pkwy, Louisville, KY 40220, USA. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, Jumbo Buffet offers a buffet-style dining experience with a variety of Chinese dishes. You can contact them at (502) 742-8550 or via mobile at +1 502-742-8550 for inquiries.
As a Chinese buffet restaurant, Jumbo Buffet typically features a wide selection of prepared dishes presented in a self-service format. Customers pay a fixed price and can then choose and eat as much as they like from the available options. These buffets often include a range of popular Chinese-American dishes, such as fried rice, noodles, various meat and vegetable stir-fries, soups, appetizers like egg rolls and spring rolls, and sometimes a selection of desserts and fruit. Buffets aim to offer variety and quantity, catering to a broad range of tastes.
Based on recent customer reviews, the experience at Jumbo Buffet appears to be facing significant challenges, particularly in terms of service, pricing transparency, food quality, and overall dining atmosphere. Potential customers should carefully consider these recent experiences before deciding to visit.
One reviewer expressed disappointment that Jumbo Buffet no longer offers frog legs, a specific item they seemed to have enjoyed in the past. This comment also included a critique of the current service, describing it as "poor" and suggesting that the staff seems to want customers to leave quickly. This indicates a potential issue with the attentiveness and hospitality of the service staff, which could negatively impact the dining experience.
Another customer, who had not visited Jumbo Buffet for a long time, reported being "very dissatisfied" with their recent experience. A major point of contention was the unexpected increase in prices, which were reportedly "jacked up to $20.99 per person" without adequate prior notification. The reviewer found it "ridiculous" that children were being charged the same price as adults. They mentioned a sign on the door regarding this pricing change, but the price was marked out, leading to confusion and the initial thought that it was a mistake. This lack of clear communication about pricing can lead to significant customer dissatisfaction.
Furthermore, this reviewer experienced poor table service. They stated that they did not know who their waiter was, and one of the waitresses was described as "very rude." An incident was recounted where the reviewer asked for water but was brought tea instead, and it took two requests to finally receive the correct drink. This indicates a lack of attentiveness and potentially a dismissive attitude from some staff members.
The quality of the food was also a significant concern for this reviewer, who noted that "half the food looked like it had been sitting there for a while." This suggests potential issues with food freshness and turnover on the buffet line, which can impact both the taste and safety of the food. Additionally, the reviewer observed a lack of enforcement of rules regarding children's supervision, noting "little kids running around by themselves" despite signs stating that children 10 and younger needed an adult with them. This lack of adherence to safety guidelines can create a chaotic and unpleasant environment for other diners.
Based on these negative experiences, the reviewer concluded that they and their son would not be returning to Jumbo Buffet, indicating a severe level of dissatisfaction with multiple aspects of their visit.
Considering these reviews, the environment at Jumbo Buffet is portrayed negatively. The suggestion that staff wants customers to leave quickly might indicate a rushed or unwelcoming atmosphere. The observation of unsupervised children running around points to a potentially disorganized and uncontrolled dining area. The concern about food looking like it has been sitting out for a while raises questions about the cleanliness and maintenance of the buffet area.
The services at Jumbo Buffet include a self-service buffet with a variety of Chinese dishes. However, the reported poor table service, including inattentiveness and rudeness from staff, significantly detracts from the overall service quality. The lack of clear communication about pricing changes is also a major service issue.
Features of Jumbo Buffet would typically include a wide selection of all-you-can-eat Chinese dishes. However, the recent reviews suggest potential issues with the freshness and quality of this food. The pricing structure, particularly the equal charge for adults and children and the unexpected price increase, is also a notable feature that has drawn criticism. The lack of enforcement of rules regarding child supervision could be considered a feature of their operational management, albeit a negative one.
No promotional information, such as discounts or special offers, is mentioned in the provided reviews. The recent significant price increase to $20.99 per person, coupled with the negative experiences, suggests that Jumbo Buffet may not currently be perceived as a good value by some customers.
In conclusion, recent customer reviews paint a concerning picture of Jumbo Buffet at 2731 S Hurstbourne Pkwy in Louisville, KY. Reports of poor service, unexpected and poorly communicated price increases (including charging adults' prices for children), questionable food freshness, and a chaotic environment with unsupervised children raise significant red flags. While Jumbo Buffet operates as a Chinese buffet offering a wide variety of dishes, the negative feedback regarding the overall dining experience suggests that potential customers should be cautious and consider these recent experiences before choosing to dine here. The lack of positive feedback or any mention of current promotions further underscores the need for potential patrons to be aware of the reported issues.

Wish they still had the frog legs poor service seem like they only want you to leave as quickly as possible
Haven't been here in a very long time, and I was very dissatisfied with how my family and I were treated. It was ridiculous that the prices were jacked up to $20.99 per person instead of informing people. Why are kids being charged the same price as adults? They had a sign on the door regarding something about this but the price was marked out. We thought they had made a mistake but nope it wasn't. We didn't know who our waiter was, one of the ladies was very rude; I had asked for water and instead was brought tea. Had to tell them twice that it was water and finally was brought the correct drink. I was trying my best to stay calm and polite but they were very rude, half the food looked like it had been sitting there for a while. They also had little kids running around by themselves even though there were signs that stated kids 10 and younger needed an adult with them but of course, nobody was enforcing the rule. I know from my son and I's point of view we won't be returning.
For had adequate amounts available but some of the more popular dishes were scarce, picked over and cold. The General Tso's chicken what are some of the best I've eaten in a while. More than worth the trip.
Very clean, nice restaurant. The layout and workers was great. Workers was great 👍. Food could use a little more umph. Mongolian grill seemed lacking on the sauce needed to make it taste flavorful.
I love coming here with my family. I love trying their seafood but the one thing I really disappoints me is that they don’t have big enough crawfish. And i wanted to try king crab for the first time. But they had little tiny crabs that didn’t have very much meat. Overall I love this place and I love coming here. They just need to put some more options out!
