About Joy Luck Restaurant(Port Hadlock)

Nestled in the heart of Port Hadlock-Irondale, Washington, **Joy Luck Restaurant** stands as a local cornerstone for those seeking classic Chinese cuisine. Located conveniently at 81 Chimacum Rd, Port Hadlock-Irondale, WA 98339, USA, this establishment has garnered a reputation for its hearty portions and unassuming charm. You can reach them by phone at (360) 379-1009 or via mobile at +1 360-379-1009 for orders or inquiries.

Upon stepping into Joy Luck Restaurant, visitors will find an **environment** that is best described as a "hole in the wall," a term often affectionately used to denote beloved, unpretentious eateries. It's the kind of place where the focus is squarely on the food rather than elaborate décor. This relaxed atmosphere makes it an ideal spot for a casual meal, whether you're dining solo, with family, or with friends. The emphasis is on comfort and familiarity, creating a welcoming space where patrons can enjoy their meal without fuss.

The **services** at Joy Luck Restaurant cater to both dine-in and take-out preferences. While not explicitly stated, the mention of calling ahead for orders suggests a robust take-out service, which is a common and highly valued offering for Chinese restaurants in local communities. Customers can easily place their orders over the phone and pick them up, making it a convenient option for busy weeknights or a quick bite. The staff running the joint are described as "nice people," contributing to a pleasant and straightforward customer experience. However, it's worth noting a particular aspect of their service regarding payment. Joy Luck Restaurant has a strong preference for **cash payments** and will often remind customers on the phone to bring cash. While they do accept cards, customer reviews indicate that they do so "begrudgingly." This preference for cash is a unique characteristic that patrons should be aware of to ensure a smooth transaction.

Joy Luck Restaurant’s **features** are primarily centered around its food, which is often described as satisfying and plentiful. While some reviews suggest that the ingredients might not always be of the highest quality or freshest, and the meat can be tough, there's an undeniable appeal that keeps customers coming back. The general consensus is that "it's not great food but you get plenty of it," highlighting the generous portion sizes that offer excellent value. This focus on quantity, combined with a comforting, familiar taste, defines the culinary experience at Joy Luck.

Diving into some specific dishes, the **Almond Fried Chicken** stands out as a consistently praised item, with one reviewer calling it "fantastic." This dish appears to be a major draw for many customers. Another frequently mentioned item is the **Mongolian Beef**. While acknowledged for its generous quantity of onions, reviews suggest the meat can be tough. The restaurant tends to be "a little heavy on the garlic," which is a notable characteristic for those who enjoy a strong garlic flavor. This strong seasoning, combined with the ample portions, contributes to the distinctive profile of Joy Luck's menu.

While specific **promotional information** beyond the everyday offerings is not explicitly detailed, the consistent theme of large portions acts as an ongoing promotion in itself. The value proposition of receiving a significant amount of food for the price is a key incentive for many diners. The preference for cash could also be seen as an informal "promotion" for the restaurant, potentially allowing them to maintain competitive pricing. For those looking for a casual, no-frills Chinese meal with ample servings, Joy Luck Restaurant presents a compelling option in the Port Hadlock area. It’s a place where local users can expect a straightforward dining experience focused on filling and familiar Chinese American favorites, with the bonus of friendly service.

It's a little hole in the wall but the food is good. They are a little heavy on the garlic but I like garlic so I don't mind. It's not great food but you get plenty of it. The meat is a bit tough, the ingredients don't strike me as especially fresh or of the best quality either. I don't know what it is about the food but I like it. The almond chicken is fantastic, the Mongolian beef is tough meat with a ton of onions, so there's both good and not so good. They prefer cash as payment method and will remind you on the phone to bring cash. They do take cards but they do it begrudgingly.

Walked to this place for a quick bite, got the almond fried chicken, it was ok, the portion was huge. I'll try something else next time I visit. Nice people run the joint

I liked the food before, but the new owners have elevated the flavor level. It's difficult to find good ethnic food on the peninsula. I always have to order the singapore noodles, and they are my toddlers' favorite! The food is quick, and the staff is kind. Joy Luck is my favorite comfort food in town.

Visited during a weekend trip to Marrowstone Island. We ordered cashew chicken, sweet & sour pork, chow mein, and veggie egg rolls. Food was very good (chow mein was in a class of it's own), and very reasonably priced. The staff here were some of the most kind, delightful, and accommodating people I have ever met. Loved that they knew everyone who came in the door by name. Seemed VERY popular with the locals. What a gem.
