Another reviewer, a frequent visitor to Lynden, expressed surprise at having not dined at Joy Luck before, stating emphatically that it "will not be the last!" Their visit, shortly after the restaurant opened on a Wednesday morning, found their family as the only patrons for the duration of their meal. They described the interior as "clean and nice," indicating a comfortable and well-maintained environment. The waitstaff was praised as "friendly and helpful," reinforcing the positive service aspect. Most importantly, the reviewer found the food to be "delicious," solidifying Joy Luck's culinary appeal.
A particularly noteworthy aspect highlighted in the reviews is Joy Luck's consideration for vegetarian diners. They specifically ordered the Kung Pao Tofu, which they pointed out was one of three fried tofu dishes available. Their detailed praise for this dish underscores Joy Luck's understanding of how to prepare tofu exceptionally well. The reviewer emphasized that the key to good fried tofu is starting with "extra firm" tofu, contrasting it with inferior versions made with softer tofu. This attention to detail in preparing vegetarian options suggests that Joy Luck caters to a diverse range of dietary preferences with quality and care.
Further supporting the positive culinary experiences, the vegetarian reviewer mentioned that their dining companions both ordered cashew chicken (one with rice, one with noodles) and reported their meals to be "excellent as well." Customer Reviews
The food is really good and the portions are a great size. We got sesame chicken, sweet n sour chicken, chicken chop suey, fried and white rice, chow mein and egg drop soup. It’s not too salty or overly sweet. Each dish was well prepared and great flavor. The staff is very nice and friendly!
I visit Lynden frequently, but this is the first time I've eaten at this restaurant. It will not be the last! Me and my family were there just after they'd opened on a Wednesday morning, and were the only people at a table the whole time we were there. What is wrong with you, Lynden? This place is fantastic! It is clean and nice inside, the waitstaff is friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious! I am (the only one in my family who is) a vegetarian, and I was happy to find several vegetarian items on the menu, including the dish I ordered --- Kung Pao Tofu --- which is one of three fried tofu dishes on offer. The secret to fried tofu is, it has to start life as "extra firm". I've had it in restaurants that use something softer, and it is awful. Joy Luck knows how it's done. Their version is excellent. For what it is worth, the other people with me both had cashew chicken (one with rice, one with noodles) and both reported their meals to be excellent as well. Anyway, I can highly recommend Joy Luck Chinese! Try it. I will certainly be by at least once from now on, every time I'm in town.
Truly incredible flavor every single time. Them chow mein noodles are unmatched in this county! Must try. Worth every penny to upgrade
I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I’m of the “there’s better Chinese food in Canada” camp, but Joy Luck was definitely worth eating. I love that you can add chow mein or fried rice to any entree. It makes a great meal, and I couldn’t finish what I got. The wontons are made with chunks of chicken, rather than ground meat, which was a pleasant surprise. The sweet and sour pork was served with the sauce on the side. We didn’t get to eat the food until 45 minutes after picking up, but it was still quite perfect. The food is not super salty, or amazingly flavorful, but that is a result of not using MSG, which I fully support! I look forward to visiting again.
Very tasty! I ordered chow main, my husband ate some other noodles, both were very good! Good size portions, reasonable prices! Will be back :)
