About Joong Koog Jip

Located at 149-08 41st Ave, Flushing, NY 11355, Joong Koog Jip is a Chinese restaurant that can be contacted at (718) 358-0468 or +1 718-358-0468.

Customer reviews offer contrasting opinions on their dining experience. One visitor who came for drinks found the fried pork to be pre-mixed with the sauce and not freshly fried, resulting in a "VERY VERY chewy" texture. They noted that a request for sauce on the side was not accommodated. While they found the shrimp to be "ok," they described the batter as "strange." This reviewer mentioned hearing that the restaurant is known for its spicy black bean noodles and expressed interest in trying that dish on a future visit.

In contrast, another customer had a highly positive experience with the Jjambong, describing it as "one of the best I ever had," even better than most others they've tried. They ordered a customized "samsun (frutti de mar) jjambong with tiny portion of noodles" and received a large bowl with "wonderfully delicious soup" and the requested small amount of noodles, which they thoroughly enjoyed. They were impressed with the customization and the soup itself, suggesting it might be the best in the NYC/NJ/CT area. However, this reviewer noted that the atmosphere was "a bit lacking & won't take a date over," recommending the Bayside store for a better ambiance. They also advised against ordering the "spicy w/ dried hot peppers" version of the Jjambong, as they felt the regular soup already had sufficient spice.

Based on the reviews, Joong Koog Jip seems to be a restaurant that may excel in certain dishes, particularly the Jjambong, which has received high praise for its flavor and customization options. However, other dishes, like the fried pork, may not meet expectations. The atmosphere of the Flushing location is described as lacking for certain occasions. If you are in the Flushing area and interested in trying their Jjambong or perhaps their renowned spicy black bean noodles, Joong Koog Jip could be worth a visit, keeping in mind the mixed feedback on other menu items and the ambiance.

Visited the spot for drinking. The fried pork was not freshly fried. It was already mixed with the sauce. I requested sauce on the side but was not an option. I assume they fried the meat hours before and second fry when they get orders. And this is why sauce on the side is possible. The meat was VERY VERY chewy. The shrimp was ok but the barrel was strange. I heard this place is known for spicy black bean noodles. Maybe I should try that dish next time.

Had one of the best Jjambong I ever had. Better than most! I should have taken a pic. Will do so next time. I asked for samsun (frutti de mar) jjambong with tiny portion of noodles. I got a huge bowl (more like a salad bowl big=STAY w/ normal size) with wonderfully delicious soup with tiny amount of noodles, as I have asked for. I can't believe I finished it. Customization was great but the soup was just wonderful. I heard that this was the best in NYC/NJ/CT and I tend to agree. A bit lacking & won't take a date over. For better atmosphere there is the bayside store. Recommend NOT getting the "spicy w/ dried hot peppers" version, as the soup requires no additional spice.

Local Korean - Chinese restaurant in Flushing, Queens. This restaurant has no sign of the place outside, my friend and I have to look at the building address to find this place. Looks like this place make for local people. We have lunch menu of Jjam Pong; Spicy noodle soup with seafood and vegetables. Medium size of regular meal Spicy Ja Jang Myun; Noodles with pork and vegetables in very spicy black bean sauce. At first, we thought the food won't enough for us but when we got our food even medium is very big potion for us plus, we share but still too much. Both noodles are fresh and delicious, seafood is great and lots of shrimp, squid and mussels. Ja Jang Myun sauce is very taste and even it said very spicy but for us is not spicy at all, but we still love it a lot. Service is very friendly and nice like family.

Their service was pretty fast and I got their Jjajangmyeon with black bean sauce and minced meat was very good. Also got a plate of their tangsuyuk (deep fried pork strips) and they gave a lot!!! Would definitely come back and grab a quick bite on their Jjajangmyeon again!

Aunties serving up comforting bowls of noodles. Big portions to fill you up and feel at home. If you don't know jajangmyeun well it's just like 90% onions stir fried and stewed in bean sauce... It's so good. They do a spicy one that is good and not too spicy. Also I don't know jjangpong well but my eating partner does and they like it a lot. The sweet and sour pork is nice too but I do wish I got the sauce on the side. Sauce on top means it gets soggy fast. Fried shrimp is good too, so was fried rice. All in all this place gets packed and is popular among all ages because they serve fine examples of these two staple dishes (jjangpong and jajangmyeun) This is perhaps my favourite example in the greater NYC area, not counting NJ though. Because maybe Fort Lee and surrounds has good examples too.
