The environment of Jing Fong, according to one reviewer, might feel "a bit dated." However, this same review emphasizes that the primary focus of the restaurant is "unmistakably on the food." This suggests that while the decor and ambiance might not be the most modern or trendy, the restaurant prioritizes the quality and authenticity of its cuisine. While the reviews do not delve deeply into the nuances of the service, the positive mention suggests a satisfactory and courteous experience for diners. The standout feature of Jing Fong is undoubtedly its authentic dim sum offerings. One reviewer who visited for dinner explored a variety of classic dim sum dishes and found them all to be "piping hot and skillfully prepared." Among the highlights praised were the "shrimp dumplings (har gow)," noted for their "delicately wrapped" exterior and "fresh, flavorful filling." This indicates a commitment to quality ingredients and traditional preparation techniques for this quintessential dim sum item. The "rice rolls," characterized by their "silky texture and savory soy-based sauce," were also highlighted as "exceptional," suggesting another well-executed classic dish.
For those with a sweet tooth, the "sesame balls" provided a "delightful conclusion" to the meal, described as "crispy on the outside, soft and sweet within," offering a pleasing textural and flavor contrast to the savory dim sum. This suggests a well-rounded menu that includes satisfying dessert options. Another reviewer specifically mentioned being able to get their "favorite (and hard to get) snow pea sprouts," indicating that Jing Fong might offer some less common or more specialized dishes alongside the standard dim sum fare. They also enjoyed the "soup dumplings" and "fried rice," further showcasing the variety and appeal of the menu. Additionally, the "duck" that their friend ordered was also reported as "tasty," suggesting that Jing Fong's culinary offerings extend beyond just dim sum to include other popular Chinese dishes.

Jing Fong, a classic dim sum establishment, brings the flavors of Chinatown to the Upper West Side with its authentic offerings. Known for its long-standing reputation, this restaurant offers a nostalgic dining experience that stays true to its roots. During a recent dinner visit, I explored a variety of classic dim sum dishes, all served piping hot and skillfully prepared. Among the highlights were the shrimp dumplings (har gow), which were delicately wrapped and bursting with fresh, flavorful filling. The rice rolls, with their silky texture and savory soy-based sauce, also stood out as exceptional. For dessert, the sesame balls provided a delightful conclusion—crispy on the outside, soft and sweet within, and a refreshing contrast to the savory courses. While the décor and ambiance may feel a bit dated, the focus here is unmistakably on the food. Its convenient location makes it an accessible destination for those seeking an authentic Chinese dining experience in the neighborhood. Jing Fong UWS delivers satisfying and traditional dim sum dishes that are well worth a visit.
Loved it. Got my favorite (and hard to get) snow pea sprouts, soup dumplings, and fried rice. The duck my friend got was tasty as well. The people who worked there were nice and professional.
A perfect authenticity between traditional chinese flavors and americanized dish items. Easily the best sesame chicken I've had in the city, and the chow fun noodles are thick cut with perfect texture combination between meat, veggie, and carb. Top 3 chinese eatery for me.
Delicious Dim Sum in the UWS. Convenient for location and want to eat Dim Sum. I love my collagen (Chicken Feet)!
The pork chop, cauliflower, and the fried rice noodles are super super super salty. The dim sum items are pretty good! And good thing is that many main dishes come with rice. Service is below expectation. The waitress asked us once throughout the entire dining “how was everything”, but no response to our comment “these two dishes are too salty.”
