About Jin Jin Chinese Restaurant

Welcome to Jin Jin Chinese Restaurant, located at 469 Sunset Blvd, West Columbia, SC 29169, USA. Situated conveniently for local residents, Jin Jin Chinese Restaurant offers a variety of Chinese dishes for both dine-in and takeout. Based on recent customer reviews, this establishment is gaining recognition for its tasty food, friendly service, and clean environment, making it a potential go-to spot for Chinese cuisine in the West Columbia area.

One customer who decided to try Jin Jin due to its proximity to their apartment shared a highly positive experience. They ordered the General Tso's chicken (referred to as "hen tso") and found it to be "pretty perfect," particularly noting its crispiness and delicious sauce. This is a significant compliment, as they mentioned that this dish often becomes soggy before reaching them elsewhere. Their satisfaction suggests that Jin Jin pays attention to the texture and flavor profiles of their dishes, ensuring a pleasant eating experience. The customer also tried their wife's garlic shrimp, which they found "pretty tasty," further indicating the quality of other menu items.

Beyond the food, this reviewer also praised the "friendly" service and the cleanliness of the interior. Being thanked for their business upon leaving also left a positive impression, highlighting a welcoming and appreciative approach from the staff. This positive feedback on both the food and the service suggests that Jin Jin Chinese Restaurant strives to create a pleasant dining experience for its patrons, whether they choose to eat in or take their food to go.

Another notable feature highlighted in the reviews is the availability of vegetarian options. One customer expressed their delight in finding a "tofu general Tso," a less common vegetarian alternative to the popular chicken dish. They found it "pretty good," indicating that Jin Jin caters to those seeking meat-free choices and is willing to offer creative adaptations of classic dishes. This is a significant advantage for vegetarians in the area looking for more than just vegetable-based sides.

However, this same reviewer also pointed out a couple of drawbacks in their takeout order. They noted that the broccoli in their dish was "way overcooked" and that there were only "four pieces" of it, suggesting potential inconsistencies in the preparation and quantity of certain vegetables. Additionally, they found the rice to be "super sticky, like sushi rice," which was not to their preference. These comments indicate that while some dishes are well-received, there might be areas where the restaurant could improve consistency or cater to different textural preferences.

Despite these minor criticisms, the reviewer mentioned that they "always get their egg rolls," implying that this is a consistently enjoyable item on the menu. Their husband also tried the steamed dumplings for the first time and "loved them both," suggesting that Jin Jin's appetizers are also well-regarded. Furthermore, it was mentioned that their husband's "usual is general Tsos chicken," aligning with the positive feedback from the first reviewer about this particular dish.

Overall, the second reviewer expressed being "really happy with the veggie options," reinforcing the point that Jin Jin Chinese Restaurant is a good choice for vegetarians in the West Columbia area. The combination of positive feedback on the General Tso's chicken (both meat and tofu versions), tasty garlic shrimp, enjoyable egg rolls and steamed dumplings, and the availability of vegetarian choices suggests a diverse menu with several well-executed items.

Based on the reviews, Jin Jin Chinese Restaurant appears to offer a clean and friendly environment for dine-in customers, although the primary focus of the feedback revolves around the quality of the food for both dine-in and takeout. The consistent praise for dishes like the General Tso's chicken and the unique tofu General Tso, along with the positive remarks about the staff's friendliness and the cleanliness of the restaurant, indicate several strong points. While there were some concerns raised about overcooked broccoli and the texture of the rice in one takeout order, the overall sentiment is positive, with customers expressing intentions to return.

Honestly, the photos don’t do this place justice. Decided to take a chance on this place as it was right across the street from our apartment.I had the hen tso and it was pretty perfect, crispy as the description says, with a delicious sauce. Usually it is soggy before it gets to me but I was very pleased. Wife had the garlic shrimp and it is also pretty tasty but not my thing. Service was also friendly and clean inside. I was thanked for my business as I left . Great job guys and thank you for friendly service and a delicious dinner. I will be seeing you again!!!

Love that there is a tofu general Tso! Never saw this before! It was pretty good! I’m sure it would be better if we went, we did take out. Downfall, way overcooked broccoli and only four pieces in it. The rice was super sticky, like sushi rice, too. Not the best. We always get their egg rolls and my husband tried steamed dumplings for the first time. He loved them both! His usual is general Tsos chicken. Overall really happy with the veggie options.

This is a no-nonsense, legit Chinese joint that has been an institution in West Columbia. The food is so spot on, the prices are spot on, and the wings are extra spot on. Y’all are missing the point if you are judging the book by its cover because Jin Jin is a true hole-in-the-wall jewel 💎 their house fried rice is literally, absolutely next level!

Walked into this place for the first time and the food smelled really good. I ordered the orange chicken with ham fried and was very impressed with the amount of food they give. And taste of the food exceed my expectations.

Tried the General Tso Tofu luch special with a pork egg roll. I liked the larger pieces of tofu and the broccoli was cooked well. Sauce is fine, lacking a little in a robustness.
