About Jin Jin Chinese Restaurant

Jin Jin Chinese Restaurant is located at 39 N Main St in Sumter, South Carolina, placing it within the Chinese Restaurant platform category, offering Chinese cuisine to the local community. Based on recent customer reviews, experiences at Jin Jin appear to be somewhat mixed, with feedback on food quality, service speed, order accuracy, and the restaurant's environment varying among patrons.

One customer found the food to be "pretty good" overall, suggesting a general level of satisfaction with the taste. However, they felt that the food "needs a little salt and pepper," indicating a potential lack of robust seasoning to their preference. Despite this minor critique of the flavor profile, they initially considered giving a 4-star rating. However, their experience was slightly marred by an issue with their order accuracy, as a dish was forgotten. When they contacted the restaurant about the missing item, the staff acknowledged the error and promised to credit them on their next visit. This suggests a willingness to address mistakes and provide some form of compensation, which can be seen as a positive aspect of their customer service.

Another customer shared their first-time experience at Jin Jin. They chose to dine in, placing their order at the counter and then waiting for their food. They noted a significant wait time of 27 minutes, which they felt was excessive considering their perception that the restaurant was "not busy" at the time. This raises concerns about the efficiency of their service, particularly during potentially slower periods. On a more positive note, this reviewer found the staff to be "pleasant enough," indicating a satisfactory level of politeness and interaction with customers. However, they also observed that the restaurant was "slightly dirty but not gross," suggesting that while cleanliness might not be a major issue, there is room for improvement in maintaining a cleaner dining environment.

A third customer experienced issues with a takeout order. While they reported that their order was "correct" upon arriving home, they found the food to be "very greasy." This is a significant concern regarding the preparation methods and the potential impact on the overall enjoyment of the meal. Furthermore, they specifically noted that the fried foods, particularly the crab rangoons, had an "old oil taste." This strongly suggests that the oil used for frying may not have been fresh, which can negatively affect the flavor and quality of fried items. Interestingly, this reviewer also mentioned that the crab rangoons were "probably the biggest I've ever seen," which could be seen as a positive aspect in terms of portion size, although the quality was compromised by the oil.

The same customer also provided feedback on other dishes they ordered. They stated that "the rest of the food was good but not spectacular," indicating a generally acceptable but not outstanding quality. They did, however, specifically highlight the "especially flavorful" fried rice and the "good" vegetable lo mein. This suggests that while some dishes might have issues (greasiness, old oil taste), others, like the fried rice and vegetable lo mein, are prepared to a higher standard and are more enjoyable.

As a Chinese restaurant in Sumter, SC, Jin Jin likely offers a menu that includes a variety of popular Chinese-American dishes. Based on the reviews, their offerings include items such as fried rice, vegetable lo mein, crab rangoons, and presumably other standard entrees. The service options appear to include both dine-in (as mentioned by the first-time customer who ordered at the counter and waited) and takeout (as experienced by the customer who took their order home). The environment seems to be a casual setting, with one reviewer noting it was "slightly dirty but not gross." The staff is generally perceived as pleasant.

The features of Jin Jin Chinese Restaurant, based on these reviews, present a mixed bag. On the positive side, some dishes like the fried rice and vegetable lo mein are reported to be flavorful. The staff is generally considered pleasant, and they seem willing to acknowledge and attempt to rectify order errors. On the negative side, there are concerns about the greasiness of the food, an "old oil taste" in fried items, a potentially slow service time for dine-in customers, and a less-than-ideal level of cleanliness in the restaurant. Order accuracy can also be an issue, as one customer reported a missing dish.

For local users in Sumter, SC, Jin Jin Chinese Restaurant offers a convenient option for Chinese cuisine with both dine-in and takeout services available. The food quality seems to be decent for some dishes, particularly the fried rice and vegetable lo mein, although there are concerns about greasiness and the freshness of frying oil for other items like crab rangoons. The service speed for dine-in customers might be slower than expected, even when the restaurant is not perceived as busy. While the staff is generally pleasant, order accuracy can be an issue that requires follow-up. The cleanliness of the dining area appears to be a minor concern but not severely off-putting.

In conclusion, Jin Jin Chinese Restaurant in Sumter, SC, offers a mix of experiences for its customers. While some aspects like the flavor of certain dishes and the politeness of the staff are positive, potential downsides include greasy food, the taste of old oil in fried items, slow service, possible order inaccuracies, and a slightly unclean environment. Local users may want to weigh these factors based on their personal preferences and priorities when choosing a Chinese restaurant in the area.

Food was pretty good. It needs a little salt and pepper. I would give them 4 stars but they forgot a dish. When we called them about it they acknowledged it and promised to credit us the next time we came in.

Our first time... showed and ordered at the counter and waited..27 mins and imo they were not busy. Staff was pleasant enough and restaurant was slightly dirty but not gross. Got home and order was correct but the food was very greasy. Also the fried foods, especially crab rangoons had a old oil taste. These were probably the biggest rangoons I've ever seen. The rest of the food was good but not spectacular. The fried rice was especially flavorful as was the vegetable lo mein.

The restaurant is beautifully located but it has no specialty to it, I was expecting to see Chinese cuisine options but not so much of that.
