About Jiangnan Chinese Cuisine
Nestled on the second floor of 103 Washington Street in the bustling Financial District of New York City, Jiangnan Chinese Cuisine offers a distinct experience within the "Chinese Restaurant" platform category. This establishment appears to be more than just a typical Chinese eatery, boasting a modern and hip design that sets it apart. Based on the available customer reviews, Jiangnan Chinese Cuisine is characterized by its delicious food, welcoming staff, and a unique ambiance that makes it feel like a "hidden gem" in the city.
One of the standout features highlighted by a delighted customer is the restaurant's atmosphere. The description of a "modern/hip design" and "pretty plates" suggests that Jiangnan Chinese Cuisine pays attention to the aesthetic details of the dining environment, aiming to provide a visually pleasing experience alongside their culinary offerings. This focus on ambiance can be a significant draw for those looking for a more contemporary setting to enjoy their Chinese meal.
The staff at Jiangnan Chinese Cuisine also receive high praise, described as "lovely." This positive feedback regarding the service contributes to the welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, making diners feel well-cared for during their visit. Friendly and attentive staff can significantly enhance the overall dining experience, encouraging repeat business and positive word-of-mouth.
The menu at Jiangnan Chinese Cuisine seems to offer some unique and noteworthy dishes. One customer specifically expressed their happiness at finding "Mapo Tofu without Beef," indicating that the restaurant caters to vegetarian preferences for this classic Sichuan dish. This willingness to accommodate dietary needs can broaden their appeal to a wider range of customers. Another highly recommended dish is the "Pickled Cabbage and Fish Fillet soup," which the reviewer explicitly stated they would return for. This suggests that this particular soup is a standout item on the menu, perhaps offering a flavor profile that is both distinctive and satisfying.
Intriguingly, the same reviewer also mentioned their intention to try the "cold cucumber dish" on their next visit. This indicates that Jiangnan Chinese Cuisine offers a variety of dishes, including lighter and potentially more refreshing options, showcasing a diverse culinary approach beyond the standard Chinese-American fare.
However, not all feedback is entirely positive. One customer noted an important detail regarding a "buy one get one free" promotion. They pointed out that the portion size received under this offer was smaller than usual, approximately half the regular size. This is crucial information for potential customers looking to take advantage of such promotions, as it sets expectations regarding the quantity of food they will receive. While the offer might still represent good value, the reduced portion size is a factor to consider.
The same reviewer also mentioned that the noodles they ordered were "a little too salty." This is a specific critique regarding the preparation of one of their dishes and is valuable feedback for the restaurant to consider for quality control and consistency. While taste preferences can vary, excessive saltiness can detract from the enjoyment of a meal for many individuals.
Despite this feedback on the noodles and the portion size under the promotion, the overall impression of Jiangnan Chinese Cuisine leans towards positive, with one reviewer explicitly calling it "Super delicious!" and a "hidden gem." This suggests that the quality of the food, in general, is high and that the restaurant offers a unique and enjoyable experience that might be overlooked by those unfamiliar with it.
Located at 103 Washington Street, on the second floor, Jiangnan Chinese Cuisine is situated in a central and easily accessible part of the Financial District. While the reviews do not explicitly mention services like takeout or delivery, it is reasonable to assume that a Chinese restaurant in this location would likely offer these options to cater to the busy working professionals and residents in the area. The contact phone number for Jiangnan Chinese Cuisine is not provided in the given information, which might be a point of inconvenience for those looking to make inquiries or place orders remotely.
In conclusion, Jiangnan Chinese Cuisine appears to be a noteworthy Chinese restaurant in New York City's Financial District. It stands out for its modern and hip ambiance, friendly staff, and a menu that includes unique and delicious dishes like the Mapo Tofu without Beef and the Pickled Cabbage and Fish Fillet soup. While one customer noted that the portion sizes under a "buy one get one free" offer are smaller and that the noodles can be a bit salty, the overall sentiment suggests a positive dining experience. For those seeking a Chinese restaurant with a contemporary feel and distinctive culinary offerings, Jiangnan Chinese Cuisine on Washington Street is certainly worth exploring. Its designation as a "hidden gem" implies a delightful discovery waiting to be made by local users.

"Buy one get one free" portion is smaller than the usual... about half the size. Noodles are a little too salty.
Super delicious! It's a hidden gem with lovely staff, a modern/hip design, and pretty plates. Also, they offer Mapo Tofu without Beef which I was happy about. I'm definitely coming back here, especially for the Pickled Cabbage and Fish Fillet soap. Next time, I'll try the cold cucumber dish ☺️
