About JiangNan Boston
JiangNan Boston is a Chinese restaurant located at 177 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02111, USA. As a Chinese restaurant, it has garnered positive feedback for its combination of delicious food, good ambiance, and reasonable prices, making it a very good value for money.
A standout dish at JiangNan Boston is the Peking duck, which is highly recommended by customers. While a whole Peking duck is noted to be on the pricier side (around $90), it's suggested that parties of four or fewer might consider ordering a half duck to allow room to sample more of the restaurant's offerings. Another dish that has received positive feedback is the mapo tofu, which is considered reasonably priced at around $20.
The atmosphere of JiangNan Boston is described as not fancy but also not cheap, suggesting a comfortable and casual dining environment with "good vibes."
Due to its popularity, JiangNan Boston can get quite busy, especially on weekends, potentially leading to long wait times for a table. However, it's mentioned that reservations are accepted for parties of more than four people, which is a useful service for larger groups.
Overall, JiangNan Boston is presented as a highly recommended Chinese restaurant in Boston for its tasty and affordable food, particularly the Peking duck and mapo tofu, and its pleasant atmosphere. Potential customers should be aware of possible wait times, especially during peak hours, and consider making a reservation if their party size is five or more.

Five star on all aspects! In fact, it’s the only Chinese restaurant in Boston I have been that has good vibes, has delicious food, and is affordable! Very good value for money. Peking duck is a must try, though I’d recommend half duck if you have four people or fewer so that you can try more dishes. Always be ready to wait in a long line to get a seated, though you can reserve a table if you have more than four people in the party. Enjoy!
The restaurant was very busy on Saturday, so we came back the next day. It was still quite busy, but we didn’t have to wait. We ordered the Peking duck and mapo tofu—both were solid. The whole Peking duck was on the pricier side ($90), while the mapo tofu was reasonably priced ($20). The atmosphere wasn’t fancy, but it also didn’t feel cheap. We enjoyed the food and will visit to try other dishes again.
Good: The atmosphere was high end and the service was great. Bad: The Peking duck was not baked to order and had very little flavor. However, the skin was well made, crispy and fatty. If you eat the duck with all the accoutrements then it’s passable; the sauce carries the entire dish. The truffle tofu could have been crispier and the seasoning could have been better distributed; some pieces were well-seasoned but some were relatively bland. The subtle truffle flavor was a good compliment to the tofu though! Overall: Experience was disappointing considering the price point and their signature Peking duck had no flavor. Service was amazing!
Best authentic Chinese cuisine I've tasted. Dined with a large group so there was considerable plate-sharing - from deep fried prawns in salty egg yolk to the bullfrog hot pot and everything in between. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.
The Peking duck here is the first thing on the menu, however it’s very greasy, not very crispy and not juicing. It lacks flavor. Do not get the duck here, it’s not authentic and is a waste of money. Unfortunately I also mentioned that someone in our party has a food sensitivity and the kitchen still put that ingredient into our food, but we couldn’t see it and that person ate it before they came back and informed us the kitchen made a mistake. They did comp the item and remake it however if the person has been allergic that could be an ER visit. Also the salted egg yolk shrimp isn’t good ether, worst one I’ve had. Having said that everything else was good, and most of the meal was good. Certainly hit or miss. Here”what was yummy. Wontons in chili oil, honey walnut shrimp, pork belly with black tea sauces, pea shoots, and the mango pomelo sago. The coconut desert was also good.
