We visited Jiang Nan Flushing Location a few years ago to have their signature grilled whole fish. We finally revisited their newly open LIC location last weekend with much easier parking. The decor is elegant with cozy ambiance and wide-spaced. It’s crowded during the peak so we highly recommend to make a reservation in advance. Here are the dishes we had: It was overall decent and authentic with proper portion. Our favorites were the flavorful pork belly and satisfying Tiger shrimp. We love how they cooks their braised pork belly with Chinese hawberry which was a great balance and not too greasy. My daughter was into their soup dumplings and had 3 at one time.
The food and presentation overall were fantastic. I think recommendations and service order should be a little bit more balanced. We ordered the following: Lotus root steamed with sticky rice Dragon well tea shrimp Smoked pork neck Black truffle mushroom fried rice Pork and crab meat soup buns Pork soup buns The Lotus root steamed with sticky rice came out first, it was a tad bit over cooked for my taste as I prefer if the lotus root has a little bit more resistance. This was followed by the dragon well tea shrimp, which was cooked to perfection, wonderful delicate flavors and well balanced. The Black Truffle mushroom fried rice came out next and it was delicious but very strongly flavored which affected the subsequent dishes. This dish should have come out last. This was followed by the soup buns, which were good, but I think there are better options in NYC. not their strong suit. The last item to arrive was the Smoked pork neck. Unfortunately, because the fried rice was so strongly flavored, it overpowered the pork neck, which was smoky and tender, but we felt like it needed more seasoning since we couldn't taste much else because of the fried rice. Lastly a note about the atmosphere. The color scheme is all very white, which looks nice, but also stains easily. The wall next to us was stained with various sauces, no doubt from patrons who were not cautious when eating, and other walls had dark marks near the base from people scuffing their shoes against it. This overall makes the restaurant seem very dingy. Perhaps a better color scheme like grey or brown would be better because it takes away from the atmosphere of the restaurant to see all the dirty white walls, or clean the walls more frequently? I will be coming back in October to entertain guests from out of town as the food really is quite good, and I hope things will be cleaner then.
I love this restaurant. Good taste and service. Thanks for Daniel‘s recommendations—they are all delicious. I was enjoying the food even that I forgot to take pictures😹
Jiang Nan is known for being one of the select few Chinese fusion restaurants recognized on the 2022 Michelin Guide recommended list. Their first location in Flushing has now expanded to LIC. This spot is huge with the elegant and beautiful decor. Their menus take you on a culinary journey through the rich flavors of China, with each dish crafted to perfection. The Peking duck is absolute standout - crispy on the outside , succulent on the inside and so flavorful. And the smoked pork neck meat? Wow. The depth of flavor and the smokiness just melt in your mouth. Plus they have live music for Saturday dinner making it an ideal spot for cozy and romantic evening. We had such a nice experience and definitely will be back. We ordered⤵️ -Peking Duck -Smoked Pork Neck meat -Stir Fried sliced beef -Sauteed Tofu with crab meat -Smashed peppers with eggplants -Peach gummies with Tremella Follow @spinx17 for more NYC food recs!
Randomly picked this place on the map for a meal, but it turned out to be surprisingly good! We ordered their signature grilled fish, which was delicious. The sides were also flavorful, and the portions were generous. Plus, the prices were quite reasonable. Highly recommended!
First time at this location and happy to say that it’s easy to get seating since foot traffic here isn’t as busy but that also means this location closes earlier than others. Food is always good. Got the Peking duck and highly recommends it! Soup dumplings were great as well.
Solid chinese food, especially if you want it to be in a nice looking restaurant (though this is for the LIC location, unsure how the place looks like in Flushing). I like the pecking duck overall, though the canned fruit side dish to enjoy w the roll is a bit off. The veggie is well cooked. I didn't really like the tofu because I was expecting crispy tofu but it is completely soft 🥲 Food is definitely on the more expensive side.
Even though Jiangnan opened nearly a year ago (?!) I only ate here for the first recently despite living reeeeeally close by lol. Our group of 4 had reservations for 6:30 on a Saturday, and when we arrived there were still a handful of tables open. I really loved the overall design of the place -- such a fan of the light colour schema, warm lighting, and minimalist decor. The menu is rather large (and not very specifically focused on a particular type of Chinese cuisine) so it took us a while to decide what to get. - Sliced pork belly with mashed garlic sauce (蒜泥白肉) - this was probably my favourite thing we ordered! The pork belly was so tender and flavourful, and I love how the lighter flavours of that and the cucumber worked with the heavier garlic / chilli flavours in the sauce. Definitely would recommend this (and the portion size for an appetiser was surprisingly large too, definitely worth the value). - Sweet and sour fish (bass) (松子鱸魚) - I really liked the flavour of the sauce, balanced very nicely with the fragrant fish meat. The portion size was pretty reasonable but this was definitely one of the pricer options here. Nonetheless I would recommend! This dish is always a classic. - Braised pork belly in black tea sauce (茶香紅燒肉) - very yummy but nothing that particularly stood out here. The sauce is interesting but a little heavy for my taste. All in all the price point was pretty reasonable - this was a perfect amount of food for the 4 of us and came out to around $30pp in total. I'd love to come back to try their Peking duck sometime (their actual speciality lol)!
We hosted a 20 person Lunar New Year event at Jiang Nan and had a great experience from beginning to end. They were so accommodating despite our multiple changes of the menu and number of guests. Everyone loved the food - we had over 10 dishes and every bite was delicious. We will definitely be back!! Thank you Jiang Nan LIC!
