About Jia Asian Bistro

Jia Asian Bistro, located at 7325 Gaston Ave Suite 110 in Dallas, Texas, is a Chinese restaurant that has garnered mixed reviews from local users. While some customers have reported negative experiences, more recent feedback indicates significant improvements in both food and service.

One updated review highlighted friendly and reasonably attentive service, with the food described as "very good." Specific dishes that received positive mentions in the update include a more balanced hot and sour soup and a much improved Szechuan beef. Additionally, the ginger tofu Thai was reported to be very good, leading to a more favorable overall experience and a higher likelihood of a return visit.

In contrast, an earlier review described a more inconsistent experience. While the staff was friendly, they were noted as disorganized. The food was considered "good" but differed from expectations based on menu descriptions and general understanding of the items. The miso soup and yellowtail roll were deemed "fine," the hot and sour soup was fair but lacked the typical balance, the steamed dumplings were mediocre with a disproportionately small filling and an unusual sauce, and the Szechuan beef, while quite good with a very good sauce, featured large medallions and only bell peppers as vegetables, differing from traditional preparations. The meal was also noted as relatively expensive for two people without drinks.

Further negative feedback included a "horrible experience" where lunch specials were advertised but not honored, and a regular order was seemingly substituted with a smaller lunch portion, along with an alleged bug on the table. This indicates potential inconsistencies in service and adherence to advertised specials.

Despite the mixed reviews, including reports of poor service and discrepancies with menu items and specials, recent feedback suggests that Jia Asian Bistro has made positive strides in improving its food quality and service. For local users in the Gaston Avenue area of Dallas seeking a nearby Chinese restaurant, Jia Asian Bistro might be worth a try, especially given the reported improvements. However, it may be prudent to manage expectations based on the range of past experiences.

Update: we visited again tonight, and they have gotten much better. The service was friendly and reasonably attentive. The food was very good. The hot and sour soup was more balanced, and the Szechuan beef was much better. My companion got ginger tofu Thai and reports that it was very good. All in all a much better experience than our prior experience, making us much more likely to return. Because our favorite Chinese restaurants are so far away from where we live, we decided to try Jia on Gaston which is much closer. We went at 8 on Friday night. There was no wait, and there was live music until about 8:30. We had to wait while a table was cleaned to allow us to be seated, although the restaurant was probably 80% empty at that point. While friendly, the staff was disorganized. The food was good, but different on each item that we ordered than what was expected based on the menu description and our general understanding of the item. My companion reports that the miso soup and the yellowtail roll were both quote "fine." The hot and sour soup was fair, but lacked that balance between hot and sour that the best such soup has, with what seemed like a strong black pepper note instead of hot created by a chili pepper. The steamed dumplings were mediocre and not recommended. They had a filling that was a little bit of pork and green onions that were disproportionately small compared to the amount of wrapper. The sauce that came with the dumplings was not good: although it looked like the typical sauce you get with dumplings, it tasted nothing like it. It tasted like very strongly of garlic with no other flavorants like ginger or soy sauce. The Szechuan beef was quite good, but not like any I had had before. The meat was large medallions, and the only vegetables were a generous portion of red and green bell peppers. The only similarity came from a very good Szechuan sauce (although it was not typical either). At $65 including tip for 2, without drinks, our meal was relatively expensive. All in all, a very mixed experience. While we may go back due to the dearth of good Chinese food in the neighborhood, it won't be our new favorite restaurant.

Horrible experience 1st see a sign says lunch specials until 3pm it was before 3pm and was told they are NOT doing lunch specials after we were given a LUNCH menu?? Ordered from regular menu to share and get told that they will give us on the lunch menu they give me and my sister this small portion for lunch when we asked for the regular order made no sence at all if this looks like it’s for 1 person then there was a bug on the plate at the table… Horrible service from the 2 ladies that work there at this time.

Staff is attentive. Quick seating. Large food portions enough for sharing. Meals are prepared and served fast. Clean restrooms. They also have happy hour for food and drinks! My husband and I come here often and it’s always the same great experience! 🙌🏻

I’ve lived in this area for 10 years and seen places come and go. However the many times I’ve been to Jia they have always been consistent with service, food and quality. Love the curry, love the lettuce wraps and their orange chicken has become a new favorite. I’m a sucker for spicy and their spicy seasonings are a great addition to any dish. Highly recommend!!!And if you’re in the mood for a drink try their leech martinis! Thai should definitely be a Lakewood staple

What an absolute delight! So glad they opened here in Lakewood. This will definitely be our go to date night dinner spot. Very clean establishment. They have booths, tables, low bar (sushi bar) and high bar (drink bar) to sit at. There are so many things to choose from on their menu and everything looked delicious. The staff was amazing, very attentive and quick with water refills. They made sure to stop by and ask if we were still doing okay and if we needed anything else. The food was flavorful and delicious. Didn’t take long for the food to come out at all. We ordered the fried Chicken Potsticker (also available steamed) and Vegetable Spring Roll for our appetizers. No complaints there at all, very flavorful. We then got Shrimp Tempura and Spicy Tuna Roll sushi. He enjoyed every bite of it and the Spicy Tuna Roll was actually spicy. There was a lot of flavor going on. We then got the Fried Rice (combination I think, can’t remember exactly) and the Orange Peel Chicken with Fried Rice on the side instead of Steamed Rice. The rice had flavor but definitely needed a little more. He added soy sauce and spice to it to kick it up a notch but overall pretty good. The chicken was absolutely delicious. So juicy and flavorful. I hadn’t gotten orange chicken in a very long time and this one did not disappoint. I can not wait to come back and try more of their menu. They had some many things to chose from. The layout of their menu is great, very easy to read/follow. 10 out of 10 experience. Will definitely be recommending this place to friends and family.
