About Jasmine Restaurant & Market

Located on Sepulveda Boulevard in Culver City, Jasmine Restaurant & Market offers a unique culinary experience, specializing in both Burmese and Indian cuisine. This low-key establishment provides a taste of authentic flavors from Myanmar and India, making it a noteworthy spot for local food enthusiasts.

A distinctive feature of Jasmine Restaurant & Market is that it houses a mini grocery store inside, offering a variety of Burmese food items for purchase, allowing customers to explore and take home ingredients and snacks from Myanmar.

Customer reviews highlight several popular dishes. The lamb biryani, priced at $18, is described as a filling and shareable dish featuring very tender lamb served on a bed of flavorful red/orange rice. It is so flavorful that it comes highly recommended. A cucumber yogurt, possibly accompanying the biryani, was also praised for its taste. The peas & naan ($6) is another interesting choice, with one reviewer noting it was their first time trying peas as a dip with thin and crispy naan and finding it surprisingly delicious.

While the menu also includes items like a fish cake salad (which might not be currently listed), the Myanmar chai ($2 for a small) is noted as a great hot milk tea, distinct from the Indian-style chai. For those new to Burmese cuisine, some reviewers suggest trying more traditional dishes beyond the grill.

The restaurant's ambiance is described as authentic, but it's important to note that most of the seating is outdoors. This could be a consideration, especially in colder weather. However, the service is consistently mentioned as great.

Parking is free on the street on Sundays, but metered parking is in effect during the week. The restaurant accepts credit cards and Apple Pay, and the restroom is located in the back.

For those interested in exploring Burmese cuisine, Jasmine Restaurant & Market seems like a promising place to try dishes like the tea leaf salad, which one reviewer is eager to sample on their next visit, alongside the unique offerings in their market.

First time for Burmese food. Had the grill but now thinking about it should have gone for something more traditional. Authentic style, only downside is most seating is outside and if it’s cold you’re just going to have to suck it out! The chai tea was different to the regular chai I make and drink, worth a try. Inside is a mini grocery store which has many Burmese style foods :-) Keep up the great service.

I am so thankful for my Burmese friend for introducing me to this Burmese/Indian spot. The restaurant/market is so low-key but they sell some good stuff! Parking is free on the street on Sundays, otherwise it's metered and you have to pay during the week. Dishes I ordered and liked: -lamb biryani $18. This is a filling dish that is shareable. It comes with the most tender lamb in a bed of red/orange rice. It was so flavorful. -cucumber yogurt. I am not sure if this came with the lamb, but it was soooo good. -peas & naan $6. This was my first time having peas as a dip with naan. It was surprisingly very delicious. The naan was thin and crispy. -Fish cake salad. I actually don't see it on the menu, but my friend ordered this. It came with a bowl of soup. -Myanmar chai $2 for small. This was great hot milk tea. (I didn't taste the Indian-type of chai) I love tea leaf salad, so I would want to try that next time. They have neat items in the market. Credit card/Apple Pay accepted. Bathroom is in the back.

Love this place been coming here since 2000 when the first owners were here. Best Burmese place around. So glad they are being recognized more and the new owners definitely made this place a lot more inviting plus hes such a chill dude. I'd come for the food it self but the ambient transport you out of LA. Love this place.

Not the nicest place to eat at but the food was pretty amazing. There are a lot of choices with the majority having a bit of heat to them. My partner got the vegetable curry with naan. It was very tasty and a bit salty for me so I think it would have paired better with rice. I got the shrimp curry and also an order of chicken biryani rice. The spices were on point but the chicken was a bit dry. It actually was an excellent dish to pair with the vegetable curry in my opinion. Parking was a bit difficult since all I was able to find was street parking. Seating was limited and would probably recommend getting things to go if it's busy. Despite these little things i would definitely recommend going here for some excellent food! Thinking of getting something tomorrow actually....
