About Jade East Chinese Restaurant
Jade East Chinese Restaurant, located at 3556 Rhodes Ave in New Boston, Ohio, has been a long-standing part of the community's dining scene for many years, even earning community choice awards in the past. However, recent customer feedback suggests a potential shift in the restaurant's quality and service, indicating that it might not be maintaining the same level of luster it once enjoyed. If you are a local user considering dining at Jade East, it's important to be aware of recent experiences shared by other customers.
Regarding the environment, one recent visitor noted that the restaurant did not appear to be overly busy during their visit, and they were seated promptly by the cashier. The availability of both booth and table-style seating was mentioned. However, it was also observed that several tables had not yet been cleared from a previous lunch rush, suggesting that the cleanliness and upkeep of the dining area might sometimes be delayed. Despite this, the overall impression was that the place "appeared clean."
In terms of services, Jade East offers dine-in options, as indicated by the seating arrangements and the interaction with a waitress. Takeout service is also implied, although not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. One customer's experience highlighted some shortcomings in the table service. After being seated and having their initial drink order taken promptly, there was a significant delay of 35 minutes before their food arrived. During this time, empty glasses were not refilled, and extra plates on the table (leftover from previous diners or perhaps brought unnecessarily) were not removed, leading to a cramped dining space with numerous dishes and serving dish covers.
A significant feature that once defined Jade East was its reputation for good quality food, evidenced by its past community choice awards. However, recent reviews paint a more inconsistent picture. One diner reported that their own food was "good," but their companion's experience with the orange chicken was overwhelmingly negative. Described as cold and a far cry from the menu's description, the orange chicken was likened to microwaved chicken cutlets covered in an entire can of mandarin oranges in syrup. The diner was so dissatisfied that they considered sending it back, a thought they quickly dismissed due to concerns about the quality of a replacement after complaining. Interestingly, they noted that their German Shepherd enjoyed the dish, implying it might not be palatable for human consumption.
Another long-time customer expressed significant disappointment with the food quality, specifically mentioning their regular order of moo goo gai pan (ordered extra spicy) and house rice. They reported that the food was "NOT good" on a recent occasion. The moo goo gai pan was undercooked and cool upon arrival home (despite living only 10 minutes away), and the flavor was described as "off." This indicates a potential decline in the consistency and quality of even their long-standing popular dishes.
One reviewer summarized their experience by stating that "overall the place appeared clean and for the most part the food was good." However, they also noted that the service was slow, suggesting that the perceived wait time might vary depending on the dining group's liveliness and the individual's time constraints. They also advised that customers should be proactive in asking for what they need and tempered expectations regarding the food being the best Asian cuisine in the area.
Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided customer reviews. To inquire about any lunch specials, daily deals, or other promotions that Jade East Chinese Restaurant might be offering, it would be best to contact them directly at their phone number: (740) 456-8078 or +1 740-456-8078. Given the recent feedback regarding service and food quality, it might also be prudent to inquire about the preparation methods and freshness of specific dishes you are considering ordering.
In conclusion, Jade East Chinese Restaurant in New Boston, OH, was once a celebrated local dining establishment. However, recent customer reviews suggest a decline in both service efficiency and food quality consistency. While some aspects like cleanliness might still be satisfactory, concerns have been raised about slow service, undercooked food, and dishes not meeting expectations (such as the orange chicken and moo goo gai pan). If you are a local user considering Jade East, it would be wise to weigh these recent experiences against its past reputation. For any information on current specials or to address any specific concerns about their menu or service, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended.

Customer Reviews
For years Jade East won community choice awards and has long been a staple of the community’s dining choices, but it seems as though they have lost their luster. We stopped in the today after a bit of shopping since they didn’t appear to be too busy and seated ourselves at the direction of the cashier. We must have just missed the lunch rush as several of the tables hadn’t been bussed yet, but both booth and table style seating was available. After about 10 minutes our waitress came to take our drink orders and quickly returned with them and took our order. After that two other couples came in and we must have fallen off the radar. After 35 minutes we received our order, but empty glasses were not refilled or extra plates removed. This might seem trivial but the tables are a bit cramped with 9 plates (we only needed 3), glasses, and serving dish covers. But hey, it’s not the end of the world. My food was good. However my dining companion’s food was not: the orange chicken. Aside from being cold it was a far cry from the menu’s description. A better description might have been, “Microwaved chicken cutlet covered with an entire can of Mandarin oranges in syrup.” If you’d like to try it just buy some nuggets from McDonalds, put them in the fridge for 30 minutes, while doing so open up an $0.89 can of mandarin oranges, remove nuggets from the fridge and dunk them in the can. It was bad. So bad that she wanted to send them back and order something else. In 10 years she’s never even suggested the idea, and thinking the worst of having them make something else after complaining the thought was quickly disregarded. On a positive note our German Shepherd loves orange chicken. Overall the place appeared clean and for the most part the food was good. The service was slow but if you’re with a lively group the time will seem faster; if you’re in a rush it will seem like forever. If you need something you’ll have to speak up. If you’re expecting it to be the best Asian food in the area you missed that bus a while ago.
What has happened to the food?? We have been ordering moo goo gai pan extra spicy for 30 years and house rice….. today the food was NOT good….i had to cook the moo goo gai pan because it wasn’t cooked and was cool when we got home.. we only live 10 mins away. The flavor was off……bad
Food was aweful and way overpriced I would not recommend this to anyone
Ordered generals chicken and it was Walmart bought frozen reheated chicken cut up with zero sauce on it. One worker was sitting in lobby with dirty sandals and feet and….no socks. The lobby floor was covered in cardboard boxes…..dirty. Honestly……I prefer the Chinese place in Wheelersburg and will never go back to this place. “Generals chicken and orange chicken was $25. Save your money and get quality food elsewhere.
The food was so excellent. It's take out. And it's like no other Chinese food can compare!
