Known for its diverse menu and friendly service, Jackey Cafe is a neighborhood favorite. The restaurant specializes in a variety of Chinese dishes, including General Tso's bean curd, egg drop soup, and other traditional favorites. Each dish is prepared with care to ensure high-quality ingredients and flavors that satisfy even the most discerning palates. Additionally, Jackey Cafe offers a BOGO (Buy One Get One) promotion on its egg drop soup, making it an excellent choice for those looking to save while enjoying their meal.

Jackey Cafe takes pride in its ability to cater to a variety of dietary preferences and restrictions. While not strictly vegetarian, many of their dishes are plant-based and can be adjusted to meet specific needs. The General Tso's bean curd is particularly popular among customers who appreciate the delicate balance of flavors and textures. Patrons have praised this dish for its generous portions and authentic taste, making it a must-try for anyone visiting Jackey Cafe.
Customer feedback highlights the positive experiences many have had at Jackey Cafe. One customer shared their experience after ordering on Christmas Day via UberEats, raving about the speed of service and the deliciousness of the food. They particularly enjoyed the General Tso's bean curd for its perfect balance of batter and flavor, describing it as "one of the best takes I've had." The portions were also noted to be very satisfying, with the egg drop soup being a highlight due to its warmth and homey feel.
However, not all reviews have been positive. One diner shared their disappointing experience after visiting during late hours, citing issues with the restaurant's cleanliness and the quality of the food. They found the menu items overpriced for what was delivered, highlighting the importance of considering personal preferences and reviewing recent feedback before dining.
Despite this, Jackey Cafe continues to be a go-to spot for many in Washington DC seeking authentic Chinese cuisine with extended hours. Customer Reviews
I ordered from here because I function on a nocturnal schedule and it was one of the only spots open on Christmas Eve night (well, technically Christmas day since I ordered after midnight)! Got General Tso's bean curd and BOGO egg drop soup. The general tso's bean curd-- SO good! And so generous with the portion, chock full. I'm not a vegetarian but enjoy the food, and this is one of the best takes I've had. I don't like heavily battered stuff, this was perfect for me. Basically tasted like tofu with a cooked skin. It came with three pieces of steamed broccoli, I wish there was more broccoli but that wasn't included in the item description, so, fair enough. It also came with what the description said was a, "small," box of rice but I would describe it more as medium since I've definitely had smaller boxes of rice. Filling meal. The egg drop soup is interesting.Tasty and warming, but has a taste like leftover slightly burnt pieces from a skillet? IDK how else to say it. Mde it kind of homey. Big containers too. Happy with it. It arrived quickly via UberEats and was piping hot. I would definitely order from here again.
Not good! Swung by here for carry out and almost skipped it because the restaurant was empty and the one across the street was packed. Thought it might just be because it was late. Wrong. Not very clean restaurant and the food was terrible. Inedible and expensive. Avoid at all costs. The soup was gluey and the crab Rangoon was terrible. We got some appetizers, a soup and fried rice and it was $56 including a tip and inedible.
I’m disappointed in my experience with Jackey Cafe tonight. The service was mediocre and the food was disgusting! Whenever we have a night out in Chinatown, we stop here for a late dinner. Then, we Uber home. We got home and discovered that ALL of our food was spoiled. Shrimp Lo Mein - noodles were dry, sour and had a foul odor. Shrimp and broccoli - the shrimp were mushy, bitter and sour. Chicken wings - (see photo) wings had a foul odor and the bones were dark/bruised. Hot and sour soup - soup tasted like it was at least a day old. Egg rolls - the cabbage was dry/dehydrated. This actually tasted better than everything else. When we called the complain, the “manager” said “that’s impossible” and would only acknowledge our complaint if we, as he stated, “well, bring it back and let me taste it.” This would be an inconvenience, as we don’t live in walking distance. Our ride home is 30 minutes and we weren’t going to drive back to the restaurant after midnight. The foul odor and taste of the food warrants a complaint with the Department of Health; which I will be filling when I go into work on Monday morning. The children in the restaurant (especially the boy) was extremely rude. He was loud and obnoxious - using profanity. The girl had an attitude whenever she was asked to do something other than sit with her face buried in her phone. The woman who took our order was extremely pleasant, as always, and she was trying to remain calm while the children were disobedient. This used to be our favorite late night spot. Needless to say, we’ll never go there again. We’re just two customers - I’m sure the owners won’t care about losing two customers.
Tried this place for the first time just now because it was open late on ubereats. Never again. I ordered an orange chicken for me and a shrimp & broccoli for my girl and it was horrible. Sauce for the shrimp/broccoli was sour and nasty and the orange chicken tasted old & dry. Shrimp wasn’t even seasoned.
This place is such a GEM! The decor is a mix of hole in the wall china town restaurant with hints of traditional Chinese artwork. The staff is laidback but come quickly when you wave. At 10:30 pm this cafe provided a fulfilling and tasty meal and on a rainy Thursday night when most surrounding restaurants were closed; definitely recommend for some great Chinese food basics.
